Story
Margo is the kind of dog who stops people in their tracks—beautiful, soft, soulful, and radiating that unmistakable Golden Retriever sweetness. She came from a backyard breeder as an 8-week-old puppy, advertised as a Goldendoodle, but as she grew, it became clear that her heart and her heritage lean almost entirely Golden. Born on 2/7/23 and now weighing about 50 pounds, she has matured into a graceful, gentle young girl who wants nothing more than to be loved. Her original family adored her and provided her with a safe, caring home, but unexpected personal challenges arose—difficult ones that prevented them from giving her the consistency, time, and attention she truly deserved. They made the painful, selfless decision to ask for help in finding her a new family, wanting Margo to live her best possible life. And what a gift this girl will be to her new home. Margo is sweetness personified. She is friendly with every dog she meets, respectful and calm around cats, and gentle enough to be trusted with young children. She needs to be in a home of no small dogs - she thinks they are playthings. Her temperament is exactly what people love about Golden Retrievers—steady, affectionate, intuitive, and endlessly kind. She greets new people with a soft smile and happy tail as if welcoming them into her world. Margo is still young and doesn’t have many commands under her belt, but she is a blank slate in the best possible way. She watches her people carefully, eager to understand what’s expected of her, and she responds beautifully to gentle guidance. With patience and routine, she will blossom into a perfectly mannered companion. A fenced yard would be ideal for her—she loves the freedom to run, sniff, and stretch those young, energetic legs. She hasn’t had nearly enough opportunities for outdoor play or structured exercise, so a family who values activity and time outside will help her thrive. After playtime, she’ll settle in beside you with that soft Golden warmth that makes every house feel more like home. Margo is the whole package: beauty, personality, intelligence, and a heart full of love. She is ready for the stability of a forever home where she won’t have to transition again—a place where she can grow up, bond deeply, and be cherished every day. If you’ve been dreaming of a young Golden mix with all the emotional intelligence and gentle spirit the breed is famous for, Margo could truly be your once-in-a-lifetime dog. She is hoping to find her new family just in time for the holiday season. To apply for this beautiful girl, emailccrnewengladn@gmail.com. Margo is ready for her fresh start. &#226&#156&#168PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 6, 2026, 4:28 pm

Story
This lovely lady is as pretty as a picture and has a smile that lights up a room. Lucy wandered onto the property of a dog-lover in Louisiana. When she was unable to locate the owner, she reached out, and Lucy is now a Sunshine dog! Lucy's foster mom shared, "Lucy is such a love bug and just wants to be next to you. She is a quick learner, picking up basic commands easily. She is good with other dogs, loves all people, tall & small. She is housebroken and walks well on a leash.” Lucy will do best with an active adopter or family who has the time to continue her training and give her lots of attention. She would also love a dog sibling, if that was a possibility, but cats would be too much of a distraction for her. She enjoys children and would be a nice family dog. If you looked up the word "happiness" in the dictionary, there might be a picture of Lucy next to the definition. Just look at that smile on her face!! And when Lucy gets to her forever home, she will be grinning far and wide! Super pretty and super sweet - she's the perfect package of fun and good looks! Lucy is ready to join her humans and be at their side. All she needs is her heart person to come along and make her life complete. In turn, Lucy promises to be your best friend forever and ever! Lucy is thought to be a Golden mix of about 1- 1 ½ years of age. At 57 lbs, Lucy needs to gain some weight and should likely be about 63 lbs as a good weight. Lucy has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and is heartworm negative. She has been given a Proheart 6 injection that provides 6 months of heartworm prevention. Lucy is currently being fostered in New England and is ready to find her forever home now! Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If you would like to be part of Lucy's rescue story and are already approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Lucy. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Story
We often say that God knew what He was doing when he created puppies to be so darn cute! We imagine Jax's young owner could not resist his sweet puppy face. But life changed for that young person and he left Jax with his grandparents who, unfortunately, found his energy level to be too much for them to handle. Instead of working with him on manners, they relegated him to life in their backyard. This sweet love muffin is a diamond in the rough and an adopter who is willing to dedicate time to training Jax will be greatly rewarded with a WONDERFUL dog! Jax is with a professional trainer right now, who will start him on his way to becoming the best dog he can be. He shows such promise and is a loving guy who is ready to bring brightness to his new forever home. Jax is an affectionate Golden mix (maybe with Duck-Toller*) who is about 2 years old and is an energetic 45 lb. puppy in his heart. He is so charismatic and is the first dog you will see in a room full of dogs or people - friendly, outgoing, loving. Jax wants to be your new best friend the minute you meet him. If you are looking for a loyal companion who will follow you everywhere then Jax is the fella for you! He is good with other dogs but has no known history with cats. This boy loves to play with toys and enjoys his chewy bones!! He is up-to-date on vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. All that is missing is a place to lay his sweet head where he will know that he is home, forever. He should be ready to come north in mid-February. (*Often the Duck-Toller breed is mistaken for small Golden Retrievers but they are a breed unto their own. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers are energetic and are extremely intelligent thinkers. Once they accept you as their leader, the bond will last forever. Duck Tollers are affectionate and loving with family members and are very patient with children.) Story
I have an Adoption Pending, but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! Toby came to our rescue through the good deeds and kindness of several animal lovers. He was once a beloved companion, but his owner in MS passed away and that left Toby in need of a new home. Toby is a stunningly beautiful boy who has the kind of face that you could just picture on a box of dog biscuits! But he is more than just a handsome face; he is a wonderful Golden mix who longs to be the center of someone’s world, with a typical “love me” Golden attitude. Toby is estimated to be about 4 years old and is described by Heather, one of our volunteers in AL, as a big goofy puppy! "He is a fluffy, sweet guy who tries to dance with me and then puts his paws around me. Seriously, it's like he's saying, "Hey girl!" He likes belly rubs and is one handsome fella who loves treats!" Toby is good with other dogs and weighs in at around 75 lbs. This Golden mix has been neutered, brought up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and micro-chipped. Toby should be ready to go north to be directly adopted in mid-January. Toby has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. If the companion you are hoping to add to your life is one that is affectionate, deeply trusting, happy, and beyond beautiful, then look no further - you've found him!!! If you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Toby. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical.
