Story
hi Bess, this pretty lady is a 9 year old Havanese. She was surrendered to us by a commercial breeder when they no longer wanted her. She is 15 lbs. After a long time at the puppy mill, it is not surprising that Bess came to us very scared and nervous. While she allows all handling, she is a sensitive girl that needs time to open up and feel more comfortable. Despite that, she does well in playgroups with other little dogs and will cuddle up on a volunteer's lap when she needs a rest. She is hoping for a loving and patient home that will continue working on her confidence. She would also like a home with another dog that is social and friendly so she could model those behaviors after them. She will come spayed, vaccinated, 4dx tested and microchipped. She also had a dental. If you are serious about adoption, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com Her adoption fee is $475. Story
Wiggles is a 7 year old spayed female havanese who weighs 11 pounds. This adorable little girl was rescued from poor conditions and we cannot imagine what she has been through. She is a bit shy to start, but has started to wiggle when she gets happy, had her first zoom around the yard and we cannot wait for her to be spoiled rotten. She has tested great with other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog and a fenced in yard for her safety. It does not seem that she has ever been on a leash, but we promised that she has no worries from here on out. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an adoption application on our website www.justice-rescue.comJustice Rescue - 17663Malvern, PA 19355

Meet Carmela! 💕
Breed: Havanese/Chihuahua Mix
Age: Around 10 years old
Location: Landenberg, Pennsylvania Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Landenberg, Pennsylvania for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Sweet little Carmela has been through quite the journey, but her gentle heart and loving spirit shine through every day.  Carmela came to us from a local shelter after being found as a stray. She had a large open mammary mass that needed immediate care. Thankfully, she received the treatment she needed — a mass removal, dental cleaning, and spay — and we’re so happy to share that her mass was benign! She’s now fully recovered and ready to enjoy her golden years in a loving forever home. This lovely lady is starting to come out of her shell more each day. She enjoys going for walks, exploring the yard, and curling up for snuggles on your lap. She’s also happy to find a cozy bed for some solo nap time — the perfect mix of affectionate and independent!  Carmela is doing well with her potty training and just needs a consistent schedule to stay on track. She eats soft food (she only has a few teeth left, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit!) and has no trouble with stairs. She gets along great with other dogs and would do well in a calm, loving home. If you’re looking for a gentle, easygoing companion who will fill your days with love and quiet joy, Carmela might just be your girl.  Apply to adopt Carmela today and give this sweet senior the forever home she deserves!

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 9th 2026 (could be sooner!) to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Abbie to our trip for the right home/home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! Her adoption fee, along with her adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Abbie ultimately finalizing her adoption. Meet Abbie 💗 Abbie is the kind of little dog who slips into your life with a softness that feels like she was always meant to be there. She has the sweetest, most serene temperament—gentle, loving, and incredibly attentive to her person. At just over 8 lbs with a straight, hypoallergenic Havanese-Poodle mix coat, she’s a delicate, elegant little companion who loves with her whole heart in the quietest, most comforting ways. She doesn’t need grand gestures or constant activity; she simply wants to belong, to be held, to be near, and to be someone’s steady little shadow throughout the day. She came to us from an older gentleman in a wheelchair who adored his dogs dearly but could no longer physically care for them. His love for them was clear, and making the choice to surrender them was an act of true devotion—putting their futures first. Although the dogs in his home knew one another, their bond was truly with him, not with each other, so it became very clear that finding individual families for each of them was the right next step. Abbie has taken that transition with so much grace. She trusts easily, she loves openly, and she holds no hesitation in her heart. Abbie is wonderfully behaved and exceptionally easy to live with. She is house trained and on a consistent 3–4 hour outdoor potty routine. She sleeps peacefully in her crate at night, though she would happily curl up beside your bed or in it if you prefer—she is very adaptable and thrives in routine and closeness. She’s not a barker, but she will softly alert you to unfamiliar noises in a way that feels helpful rather than reactive. She loves other dogs and cats and blends in with any home dynamic beautifully, though her true happiness comes from being with her person. She has a playful side that comes out in the yard during sunbathing sessions, but even then, it’s gentle and joyful, never chaotic or overwhelming. Abbie enjoys grooming and adores being pampered—she stands calmly and loves every bit of the attention. She is wonderful on road trips, happiest resting in your lap, which is why we recommend a booster seat for safe travel when she can’t be held by someone other than the driver. Her manners in the home are impeccable; she is calm, respectful, and content simply being near you. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/abbie-1 She is fully vetted—spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and has had a full dental cleaning with necessary extractions, along with a complete exam by our veterinarian. Her adoption fee helps cover her medical care, dental extractions, microchip, months of care with us, her grooming needs, and the training and structure we’ve provided to prepare her for this next chapter. Note: Abbie will need to be on a soft food diet for now as sadly almost all of her teeth had to be removed. (She has 6 teeth left, two of which are her bottom k9's so no, her tounge isn't hanging out (it's a question we get a lot!!) She is as beautiful and perfect as ever, just with less teeth 🙃 Abbie is ready for someone who wants a loving, peaceful, deeply devoted companion. If you’re looking for a soft little soul who will give you her entire heart without hesitation, she may be your perfect match.
