Story
This is a mighty special boy who is NOT special needs despite only having 3 legs.  Oscar is missing his front right leg and it does not slow him down at all.  His foster mom takes him on long walks daily and he loves them. If she gets busy and does not take him, he whines at hurt like his feelings are really hurt. He jumps into the van by himself and he loves to go on rides, really he barks if she loads up another dog and does not take Oscar.  The foster mom tries to give all of the dogs equal time in the love and attention area.  Oscar went riding in a subdivision where the Christmas lights were plentiful and he loved it, he rode and looked at the lights as if he were a real 2-legged little boy. So it is safe to say that Oscar's foster mom spoils him and gives him more attention and love because we feel he deserves it.  Oscar is 4 years old and 60 pounds.  All he knew all his life was being chained up in someone's yard.  Oscar got tired of it and chewed through his cable chain and got loose.  Something horrible happened to him but he made his way back home.  The foster mom lives on the same street so the owners called her over and begged her to help him.  She called me and Roxy's K-9 Rescue took him to the vet where they cleaned him up immediately and assessed the situation.  There was so much damage that they only option was to amputate his leg.  If you would like to see his wound pictures, I can email them to you. Oscar is now a Roxy's K-9 Rescue dog as the owners surrendered him not wanting a tri-pod dog.  But nothing is wrong with him, Oscar has no disabilities or special needs except to need love and a safe, happy home. He gets along with all of the dogs that are in the home, big and small.  He does not bother them and they do not bother him.  He is more focused on hanging out and following his foster mom around.  He is completely healed from his amputation, no medications or special instructions are required for him. Wouldn't you like a warm loving guy who is not destructive and appreciates a good home?  There is another video of him playing with a toy that I can provide. We transport across the United States.  Thank you.   ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes  spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to you.  Thank you.         September 20, 2023, 8:15 am

Story
This guy is a super star, everything about him is great.  The only thing that Hank does not like to do is take baths, hates them.  He is quiet, well-mannered and behaved and low maintenance on a daily basis, you hardly know he is there. Hank loves everyone and tries to play with all dogs no matter what size they are.  He completely ignores cats, just watches them.  He is at a foster home with 5 cats roaming around.  There is no barking from Hank except when he wants your attention, then he will bark 1 time.  He loves to go walking and does not pull on the leash and not dog reactive while walking except he wants to play, rides well in the car without getting sick. Hank is certainly a lover and a very loyal companion.  He is 1.5 years old, 61 pounds, heartworm tested negative.  He has his vaccinations, rabies, been dewormed and he is microchipped.  This is really a great guy to have as a buddy. If interested, please submit an application on our website, www.roxysk9rescue.org   Transportation is available to most states across the country. Story
Name: SissyGender:  Female Weight: 66 lbsBreed: huskyAge/DOB: approximately three years old Sissy is a sweet southern girl who came all the way from Texas.    Sissy and her brother were found on a local golf course. Rescuers are not sure if they were strays that wandered onto the golf course or somebody left them. The rescue down in Texas was at max capacity, so unfortunately Sissy ended up in Boarding for a couple of months until we could place them into foster with our rescue. Sissy is a very sweet girl who just wants to be loved, and to be near her people. She will play with other dogs but she’s still trying to figure out her place in the pack.    She wants to initiate play but isn’t sure quite yet.   We know that she will make a great family pet because she is eager to please and easily takes direction.  She’s good in the crate and stays in there when her fosters are not home.   At nighttime, she sleeps on a dog bed in her fosters bedroom with her foster siblings.  She prefers to sleep in your bed but 3 dogs in the bed is a bit much lol.  Sissy has had no accidents in the house since we got her. She also enjoys her daily walks with her foster siblings and the occasional golf cart ride. Her foster does not have any children or cats so we cannot attest to how she would be with them. In regards to kids she would probably be fine with older kids but little ones. I imagine she would knock over just because she gets excited. If you’re interested  in adopting Sissy head over to our website 716paws.org and submit an application.    ##1796980##

Story
Here in Canada come meet him Name: Rainbow (20220510-03) Weight: 25 kg / 55 lbs Age: 4.5 years Gender: male Spayed/Neutered: Yes 5/03/22 Breed: Husky mix Colour: cream Neck size (for collar): Height (from top of head): Length (from nose to base of tail): Crate size recommended: L to. XL Good with women: yes Good with men: yes Good with kids: older children Good with other dogs: selective - will do best with females and calm males Good with cats: unknown House trained: not 100% but getting better Crate trained: yes Energy level: med/high - energetic Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: no Flight risk: maybe Food aggressive: Yes - once he learns that he will have constant meals this should subside Current food: Pulsar Walks on leash: yes but is a puller Leash reactive to people or dogs: may react to unknown dogs Rides well in car: yes, in crate Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: yes Needs a home with another dog: should be only dog for now Can live in an apartment: no History: Came from Norway House. He spent his life tied up outdoors and is still getting used to being an indoor dog. Additional comments: Rainbow is a beautiful husky mix that was rescued in Manitoba. He has since travelled to Ontario in search of his forever home and is dying to meet you! Poor Rainbow was chained for most of his life and was attacked over and over again by neighbourhood dogs. Because he was chained he had no way to run away or defend himself from these attacks and has suffered some trauma because of this. He will need very slow introductions to other dog, and does best with females and calm and submissive males. Rainbow is an absolute sweetheart and loves people. It is so evident that he knows he’s been saved and is so thankful in the way he acts toward his humans. He just wants to cuddle and give love. He was recently groomed and was such a good boy! We are looking for a home for Rainbow that understands that he will be fear reactive toward dogs that he does not know, and are willing to work with him and show him that not all dogs are bad and that he will never be hurt or attacked again. Living in a home is still new to him, but he is making amazing progress with his housetraining! He is great in the car and loves car rides. His foster mom is confident that he will be very easy to train, he just needs to learn what is expected of him. Rainbow may show a bit of food aggression in the beginning, only because he was starved and had his food stolen by other dogs. Once he learns that he has a constant food source we are very confident that this will subside. We know his person is out there, do you have it in your heart to take a chance on him?

Dude is a sweet boy and all he wants is to love and be loved. He’s amazing with kids but might knock a smaller child over by accident so 8 years + would be ideal. He loves all people, he does not like cats so a home without cats is a must. Dude likes other dogs but he needs another dog in the home that’s around the same size and one to match his energy level as he loves to play.

Can live in an apartment: No Backstory: This is Smittey. We are just smitten with his personality, but heartbroken over his story. It took a village to get Smittey to where he is today and we are so overjoyed at the thought of him having a forever home. It is our promise to Smittey that he will never have to endure this type of pain and suffering again for as long as he lives. Smittey was brought into the Floyd County Animal Shelter in Kentucky by animal control with a broken jaw. His teeth, tongue, and gums were exposed. After a thorough examination it was discovered that there were bullet fragments in his jaw which led to one sickening conclusion.. someone had shot Smittey in the face. He also tested positive for heartworm and Lyme and is currently undergoing treatment. After multiple vet examinations and X-rays it was determined that his jaw would heal on it’s own and he would not require surgery. His jaw has now fully healed although he will always have a crooked smile as a reminder of what he has been through. Smittey will require a soft food diet for life and will need to avoid vigorous chewing and rough play using his mouth (ie. tug of war) to ensure that he does not re-injure his jaw. Smittey was moved from the shelter to one of our wonderful foster partners where he will stay until his heart worm treatment concludes. Smittey is dog friendly and very well behaved. He is a gentle soul who deserves a chance. He absolutely adores human attention and has been friendly, loving, and gentle to all even during his vet appointments where he was poked and prodded. He is a talkative husky with silly antics who is extremely smart and eager to learn!
