Story
Adventure-seeking, nose-following, smart, and playful Husky seeks forever guardian(s) to adventure with, play with, and snuggle! Klondike is our 62 lb, about 4-year-old Husky fella who *loves* a sniffing adventure and would likely excel in a nosework class with his guardian. He has gone on hikes with staff and loves the adventure. He loves his enrichment—both mental and physical—as well as a nice nap after his needs are met. He’s an active guy looking for an active home with a fenced yard. He’s done so well in our yards here at POOCH—he’s never tried to go over or under the fences, which is A+++ for a Husky! He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccinations. Being the smarty pants that I am, my friends here at POOCH are helping me be my best self through appropriate enrichment: playing, sniffing, shredding, brain games, food dispensing toys, and learning! I have done well playing with my dog friend here at POOCH, so if you have another dog we could see if we can be friends, or I could be your one and only as well—I’m a flexible fella! I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of my vaccinations. If you’re ready to be adventurous together, meet my amazingly special mental needs, and be rewarded with lots of love and fur on your clothes, fill out an application to be my forever person today! Likes: People! Being outside! Other dogs! Agility games & equipment. Dislikes: Not being able to be active. Get more info at pooch.org/klondike

Dog meet and greets are by appointment only, please answer the questions below the bio, either through Petfinder, Adopt-A-Pet, Rescueme.org or by directly e-mailing us at shelter@hbpets.org. Please be patient, we try and get back to you as quick as possible. Longest dog resident: 595 days, that is how long Luca has been at our shelter, 595 days, as of 4/18/24. We don't understand why, Luca is sweet, lovable, goofy, his recall is 90%, he knows sit, stay, leave-it, kennel and handsome boy (he tilts his head), he has a long list of many different breed dogs he has played with (from cattle dogs to Labradors to malamutes to German Shepard's), he does well at he groomers, he loves water, any kind of water, whether that be pool water or a muddy pond. Luca came to us in 2022, from a local county shelter who have been hit hard with abandoned dogs, he was on their list to be euthanized due to overcrowding, they reached out and we took him in, we never expected him to still be here 595 days later. Sure, he cannot live with cats, he doesn't like intact male dogs or Alpha dogs and he shy's away from children under 10yrs, but he truly is he most amazing dog, he is coming up on his 2yr anniversary here, is there no one who will give this boy a home before then?? My adoption fee is $150: This includes neuter, vaccines, microchip, dewormer, flea treatment and a 1 pound bag of food. 1. Do you own or rent? 2. Do you have a private fenced yard? 3. Do you go hiking, jogging or do physical activities that he can be a part of? 4. How many people and age groups live in your home? 5. How many animals, types and what they are like! 6. Do you have time to continue his leash manners? 7. How many hours a day will he be alone? 8. Do you have time for brushing? 9.Please tell us more about how he would spend his days and what activities you would plan!

Story
It burdens me to even consider giving up this girl because she has been with me through the last 9 years. I’m reaching out to see if I can find someone who has more time than I have to care for her. I feel absolutely terrible about it and she deserves better, so I want to see if a better situation exists out there. Pros: -She comes from a loving home with no behavioral problems. -She’s off-leash and well trained. -I’m willing to support you in this transition in anyway that I can. I truly care deeply about this animal. -I’d like to stay in her life by means of watching her if you go on vacation or want a weekend off if possible. Cons: -She’s 9 years old (senior dog) but has no serious health concerns. -She sheds a lot of fur, so lots of brushing, but doesn’t require bathing often. -She needs exercise every day and loves new adventures. I’m looking for the right fit so if you think that’s you, let me know.
