Story
3 yr old white M Siberian Husky Notes from his foster:  Chip is a very loving and intelligent. What an amazing dog! He has so much love to give, yet at the same time he has high energy! The husky traits are definitely there like talking to you, of which is  moaning and somewhat of a soft howl. His new adopters should be aware of what those traits are and with any negative ones he is trainable. But it needs to be a constant reminder to him, he is very trainable as an intelligent pup could be! He loves laying on the couch next to his human. He'll either lay his head on you or lay with half of his body on you, which means he wants loving!   The shelter estimates Chip to be 3 years, I challenge his age to be at least a year    younger. I've looked at his teeth, evaluated his boundless energy, and when playing with other dogs, he acts like a pup.   He does well with indoor cats, but he sometimes goes up and sniffs them like he's checking to make sure they are ok.  If he is outside and one runs away he will chase it -supervision is a must   It's not a good idea to have small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs or hamsters. Due to the huskey's high prey drive! Chip would be great in an active home that loves the outdoors and is busy with outdoors activities with him, like hiking or swimming. He loves water so much that he plays in his water bowl and likes to bite at the water coming out of the hose. Thankfully he's learning to do it outside in his water bowl only. The daily walks which    he needs, he has been doing extremely well on not pulling, except at the beginning or if another owner/dog is walking by. He'll pull because he is very excited to meet them. I have him sit and calm him down until they have gone by. He loves car rides to a fault. If a neighbor gets in their car and starts it up he will continue running around the car until you call him off. But keep attention on him because he's known to run after the car, like let me in, you forgot me!   Chip would do best in a cold weather environment. We haven't had time to take him to the snow but I can imagine him loving it! He loves to go out on the deck late at night. He lays with his nose in the air, wide awake enjoying the cold night. Then he comes in and either jumps on the bed partially laying on me. Or if I'm rolled    over towards the middle of the bed, he'll lay on the bed along the edge. Always waiting to be petted. And yes, we do have other pets but once he moved in, he took over everything! If something is on the floor and becomes missing whether it's a dog item or an item of his human, Chip has most likely picked it up and moved it somewhere else. He does know how to share. He is not food aggressive, will let my labradoodle eat out of his bowl with him. And he shares all of the other pets toys he took over. When all the pets are resting or it is bedtime, his high energy is gone and he calms down to a resting state, sleeping too.   He does need a home with another younger high energy dog to play with, my 2 15 year old Yorkies are not playmates. My 5 year oldlabradoodle adopted as apuppy    during COVID did not learn how to play with dogs. She sure knows how to play with Chip whether she wants to or not. She always runs out of energy way before he does. Chip might even bless a family with another high energy dog. They will wear each other out. And eventhough my Yorkies don't play he has learned to leave them alone occasionally forgetting and dangles a toy over their head as they show their growling teeth, so he moves on.   Chip is very friendly with people one of the only things he hasn't learned is not to jump up on the person. He's so excited to meet someone new,  that to get their attention he thinks they needs to be eye to eye. Kids he has had little exposure. He will do well with kids just needs an adult there to watch over until he calms down with his     excitement. He is also vey dog friendly unless the other dog turns aggressive on him he will respond back to correct Most of all he becomes very attached to his humans and loves them MOST of all !!!   ##2559846##

MEET TENOR & BASS! This happy and loving duo has waited much too long for a home. They are a loving, fun pair of playful dogs who need a foster or forever home! They are very affectionate toward people, and love, love, love each other. They are likely brothers, who found themselves at a crowded California shelter with no adoption interest. Fortunately they were rescued but still haven't found a home yet. They must be adopted together as they are extremely bonded. Both are almost 7 years old. Bass, the brown-and-white pup, weighs only 55 lbs., and Tenor (tan and white) weighs about 60 lbs. They are fun, active pups who love to run, play and snuggle. They would love to be adopted by someone who could take them on hikes, walks and other outings. They currently play with each other for entertainment but it'd be great for them to branch out and see the world. Bass & Tenor love to jump up and give kisses. They are not super friendly with other dogs, so should be the only dogs in the home - but they have plenty of love to give and will be grateful to whomever adopts them. If you can foster or adopt Bass & Tenor, please email for an application.

Hi - I'm Benji! I'm a 1-1/2-year-old Siberian Husky-shepherd mix in need of a foster or forever home. I weigh only 48 lbs! I was rescued from a crowded California shelter, where I did well with other dogs. I'm a sweet boy and like most huskies, am incredibly smart, so I need a smart owner to keep me active and secure. Powder: what a sweet heart with her steely blue eyes, she is not icy but she is warm and cuddly. She loves to play and she is a guard dog. She will bark when she needs to go out. And she is basically house broken. And can sleep in her kennel well from 11-6.She won’t be big like a husky. She’ll be about 40 pounds and a small medium dog. She has small paws. She is extremely playful and VERY smart. She would do well in a home that wants lots of structure and a well behaved dog that is treat driven. She’s feisty though so get ready for a personality  Apply for Powder here:https://form.jotform.com/60136667457159 ##2467780##

Story
Nira here is a thoughtful heart and chase queen! Nira is so fortunate and is waiting for her adoption day living in a loving foster home. Her foster shared Nira is both house and crate trained and has been a fun addition to her crew of dogs and kids. Basically, she kinda slid right in and has been playing and snuggling ever since. Before reading on, be sure to watch Nira’s YouTube video to see her love of toys, drive by kisses, and gorgeous listening ears. https://youtu.be/OnUqeKf6NCs Nira is a sweet, thoughtful girl who can take just a beat to warm up to new people, but once she feels safe, she shows her loving, playful side in the most genuine way. She’s not the type to rush in, she prefers to observe a bit before making her full, loving commitment.. And when she does? You’re an item. This girl is wonderfully dog-oriented and truly shines when she has canine companionship. Her confidence noticeably grows when another dog is present, and she relaxes into herself much more easily. She enjoys play that involves chasing and movement, and even though we cannot say with a guarantee what her breed is we see her herding instincts come out when a good round of chase gets going. She also gets a little vocal when she is playing but it is all in good fun. She would do wonderful paired with a medium-energy, goofy dog who can keep things fun. As much as she loves playing with a doggie friend- she is more than happy to entertain herself with a toy. Stuffies are a fave but she has yet to meet a toys she didnt enjoy. With people, Nira needs time and calm introductions. Her foster shared that new environments and unfamiliar faces can seem to overwhelm her at first, so she’ll do best in a quieter home that understands the value of slow trust-building and a little patience. Once she bonds, she seeks affection, jumps up to ask for love, and happily engages with her people. Treats are a big motivator for her and go a long way in helping her feel comfortable and confident so stock up! Nira would thrive in a home with a yard, another dog in the home, and adopters who are patient, consistent, and respectful of her need for space early on. She is not a candidate for apartment or city living and would be happiest as a homebody dog rather than one expected to tag along to outings or social events. Kids and family life are welcome! She lives with kids age 11 & 13 and adores them. She will also needs a cat-free home, as she will chase cats. She lives with cats in her foster home but has more recently been separated from them for her love of chase. It is all fun-loving on her end but the cats agree- the feeling is not mutual. For the right home, she is ready to be an incredibly devoted companion. Nira is ready with deep, loyal, and lasting love. Ready to welcome Nira home? Story
We all know Salt makes everything better and this boy is no exception to that. Salt is the perfect blend of bouncy, melty, loving hilarity. I spent the afternoon with him and honestly giggled and awwww’d the whole time. Some dogs bring goofy and that is so fun, some bring so much heart-wide-open love. Very few bring the perfect balance of both and Salt is one of those rare ones. On top of everything he is so stinking adorable. Dark eyes, floppy ears, a fluffy, curly tail… my goodness he is a cutie! He is simply, the kind of dog that keeps you laughing with his silly self, then melts at your feet like a marshmallow. At just around a year old (estimated because he is a rescue) and weighing 52 lbs,, which we believe is his full-grown size. At this age he is still in-training to be a grown-up pup. We can’t guarantee age or breed but we suspect he is a shepherd/ husky mix. He’s fostered in a home with a full dog pack, and he has an especially cute relationship with the littlest pup in the crew. Watching him play is like seeing a kid at recess — goofy, silly faces, funny noises all while forgetting everyone else. You can see a bit of it (plus so much more) in his adoption video here- https://youtu.be/cMR40T70zf8 But he is not all high energy; Salt is also the king of the love-lean cuddle. Stand still for a minute, better yet- sit down, and he will be there gently leaning his whole self into your legs. I don’t know what it is but that move always feels like the sweetest version of a hug from a dog. If you return that love with a belly-rub you have sent him right to heaven. Salt is pretty perfect but he is still growing so he has a few areas where he is a work-in-progress. For example, his leash manners are still coming along. He has the basics down but lets his excitement for walks show when he first hits the pavement. A gentle reminder is about all he needs to reconnect. Once you’re in a rhythm though, he listens and is ready to move. A home with a yard will be an important element for Salt, he needs space to move, plus with a little husky in him chances are he will be a singing and howling boy so apartment life is just not the right fit. He could thrive with a medium-energy female dog who’s down to play and patient with his big feelings. Cats? Not his thing. He’s a little too excited and chase-prone for the feline crowd. But people? Salt is all in. He’s been great with kids at events (he is a bit of a regular at a local brewery) always happy, wiggly, and gentle with the little ones who come up to say hi or run by playing chase. We can easily picture him as a fun family dog with kids over 5 who can handle his bounce. Sprinkle Salt into your life to add more love, fun, and loyalty. This big hearted goof-ball will not be available for long- he is just too good! Questions? Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
