Story
5 years old Spayed female 40 lbs. Sweet, playful, and energetic Gets along with other playful dogs Looking for a home with kids over 6 years Hi there, I'm Sasha, but you might know me as the 'Robert Street Husky' if you're from the Fort Atkinson area! I spent quite a bit of time outside in my previous home, which made me a frequent topic of discussion in local online forums. I'm a sweet and playful girl who adores people and gets along great with other dogs. With my boundless energy, I'm always up for a game or a good run around the yard, especially if it's with a canine friend! I'm a total cuddle bug too—there's nothing I love more than a good belly rub. However, I can be a bit nervous when people reach for my collar, so a home with kids over 6 who understand not to grab at me would be ideal. If you're looking for a fun-loving companion who's ready for adventure, then I'm your girl! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.April 24, 2024, 11:18 pm

Serenity, also known as CiciHuskyFemale5 years oldGood with dogs and very shy of peopleCici was a surrender from an Amish farmer that the state closed down due to neglect and bad conditions. She was used for breed purposes only. We believe she had at least 8 litters. Cici needs a home with another playful pup, and a fenced-in yard is a must.Cici has a heart condition, and because of that, she can not be spayed. There is a surgery to correct it, but their is a high chance she may not make it through the procedure. We have decided to let her live out her days, and we want her to have the very best. Cici is very sweet but is shy of people petting her. This girl has not 1 mean bone in her body. She is a dog that loves to lay in front of a door and soak up the warm sun. She is currently being fostered with lots of other dogs and small kids.apply at wbdr.org

Story
Luke- 8 month old Husky/Shepherd Mix, 50 pounds, neuteredLuke is a young energetic boy that is looking for a home to match his energy. He needs a home that will provide mental and physical exercise, with consistent and strong leadership. He is a very smart and loyal dog. He loves to learn, enjoys treats, and his favorite past time is chewing on toys. He is potty trained and sleeps in a gated area. He is doing well with two adult dogs and a puppy in his foster home. Due to lack of socialization in his first home, proper introductions will be necessary for Luke. He will need a yard with a secured fence to help him with his energy. He would do best in a home with older children.Apply at wbdr.orgapply at wbdr.org

Story
Meet Kenai! Hey friends! My name is Kenai, and I'm am as handsome as they come! I'm a pretty special adult dog who needs someone in my life who will show me guidance and all the good things to do. I'm housetrained, but I'm not a fan of crates, but I'm not destructive if I need to be left alone. I'd really rather not be home by myself very often. I really attach myself to my person and love going everywhere with them, riding shotgun, of course! I'm good with other dogs, but since I love food so much, it's best that I'm fed by myself, but I've been working at being a good boy, and practicing not having to be in a different part of the house to eat. My style of play might be a little rough for smaller dogs, or since I think cats are really fun to chase, and shouldn't live with them, it might just be a small animal thing that I'm not a fan of. I love humans, but I don't think I should live with the little ones, as I'm a pretty strong, large 65 pound dog, and I would never want to knock them over or hurt them. I enjoy going on walks, but if I see a squirrel, walking is out of the question. Then we run! I'm normally pretty good with having slack in my leash, but sometimes I pull, and that's where a strong handler comes in. Actually, it's probably best if I have someone with husky experience. I can't be on a tie out, so I'll need to go for walks for potty breaks or have a very secured fenced-in yard. If you know huskies, you know that I'm everything great all rolled into one! I'm a talker, and needy (that classifies as great, right?), and obedient and active! I could stand to lose a few, or more, pounds to get myself to a healthy weight and make my joints happier in the long run, so I need someone who is active. We could go on hikes together, and I could help you train for that 5k you've been wanting to do! I'd love it if my new person works from home or I could go to work with them. Remember, I love humans and not fond of being left alone! I'm a really good boy, and trying to find my forever people at this point in life seems very daunting! Do you think you have what it takes to make me a happy guy for all the rest of my days? *Kenai is being fostered in the Janesville area. Story
Meet Layla! Hey everyone, my name is Layla. I'm a beautiful, adult Husky mix. I'm a petite little gal, weighing just 38 pounds. I'm a really good girl, and I get along well with other dogs, and I don't mind cats either! I do my pottying outside, but since I'd rather be indoors, you might have to have a pottying schedule for me so I don't have accidents. I haven't been around any kids since being in my foster home, but since I recently had an eye removed, and my other eye isn't super great, I think if there are kids in my forever home, they should be older than 12. My fur is super great, so I just know everyone will want to touch me! Ever since I came into rescue, I've gotten all fixed up and received so much love and care. And it feels good! I've never really had that in my life before now. My foster pawrents have been working on giving me guidance to feel confident in things I've never felt like I would have confidence in. I'm not there yet, so I sure hope my forever family wants to love me enough to do that for me, too! I enjoy laying in comfy dog beds, but my favorite bed to lay in is the big bed with my humans, snuggled up without a care in the world. I haven't tried going up a full flight if stairs just yet, so I just stay on the main level at my foster home. I'm a very quiet gal, and don't bark at every leaf that blows! Well, since I can't see well, I can't really see the leaves blowing anyway, but you get my point. I'm ready to go home with you now, and I can't wait to show you all the love I have in my heart for you! *Layla is being fostered in the Fort Atkinson area. Story
Star is fostered in CA. Star is great with dogs, but having energy can play excitedly and may not be a fit for puppies or elderly dogs. Star is a gorgeous girl with brains and energy to match! She might be blind, but that doesn’t slow her down at all. She navigates just fine and all the important things (food, sniffy walks, petting) don’t require sight. Star also had a couple of seizures, which the vet is calling idiopathic epilepsy since no other cause was found in testing, so she takes Keppra and that has prevented any more episodes. She has already learned a lot of words, including: focus, sit, step, and walking. Given her puppy energy level, she would love to be in a home with another dog her size or bigger and no small children or cats. Star *loves* meeting new people and dogs, exploring her environment, eating, walking, and snoozing in her crate or in the car. She is still learning to be the best dog, but she is a quick study. She needs a family experienced with Huskies or similar breeds who are willing to continue her education. If you are active and ready for an energetic beauty, contact us to learn more about Star! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
