· Intake Reason: transferredKnown with:· Cats: unknown· Dogs: does well in WCHS playgroups· Kids: unknown· Personality: Very active and playful, tends to pull on leash, just LOVES running around in the courtyardHey there, my name is Fox and I am quite a hunk. A while back my sister and I were abandoned in an apartment and I did my best to take care of her. Lucky for both of us we were found and brought to a rescue where we got lots of TLC. When we got the chance to be transferred to WCHS to search for our forever families, we jumped at the chance; everyone in Wisconsin has been super nice. With my handsome wolflike coat, I think I am going to really enjoy the cooler temperatures here. I am friendly and even a bit hyper; I am a high-octane dude. Although I weigh about 50 pounds, I am still a youngster and have some more growing to do. I hope we can take some classes together so I can practice obedience and manners before I am fully grown; I want to be welcome wherever we go. I have so much to learn, discover and explore and I am counting on you to help me safely navigate the world and experience new things each day to allow me to grow into a confident young dog. I also know I have to practice something called house-training so I know proper potty behavior. A routine, lots of yummy treats and praise will go a long way to helping me master house-training when I potty outside. Puppies and dogs need love, exercise, mental stimulation and consistency to be healthy, happy and confident. I have been having a blast romping in the playgroups at the shelter; I am a rough player so I do need my mates to understand I am just having a good time. I am a free-spirit who is good-natured to everyone. I am light on my feet and very athletic so I think I would like to have a job or two. It would be grand to get involved in canine sports or participate in other fun activities like nose work, dog parkour or rally. I will be counting on you to keep me safe and secure because my wanderlust and sense of adventure could get the best of me. I love to talk with my humans and keep you informed about everything in our surroundings; some call me a tad chatty. I promise to be a loyal companion forever and hope you stop by to meet me in person and discover how dynamic I am.#1

Serenity, also known as CiciHuskyFemale5 years oldGood with dogs and very shy of peopleCici was a surrender from an Amish farmer that the state closed down due to neglect and bad conditions. She was used for breed purposes only. We believe she had at least 8 litters. Cici needs a home with another playful pup, and a fenced-in yard is a must.Cici has a heart condition, and because of that, she can not be spayed. There is a surgery to correct it, but their is a high chance she may not make it through the procedure. We have decided to let her live out her days, and we want her to have the very best. Cici is very sweet but is shy of people petting her. This girl has not 1 mean bone in her body. She is a dog that loves to lay in front of a door and soak up the warm sun. She is currently being fostered with lots of other dogs and small kids.apply at wbdr.org

Luke- 8 month old Husky/Shepherd Mix, 50 pounds, neuteredLuke is a young energetic boy that is looking for a home to match his energy. He needs a home that will provide mental and physical exercise, with consistent and strong leadership. He is a very smart and loyal dog. He loves to learn, enjoys treats, and his favorite past time is chewing on toys. He is potty trained and sleeps in a gated area. He is doing well with two adult dogs and a puppy in his foster home. Due to lack of socialization in his first home, proper introductions will be necessary for Luke. He will need a yard with a secured fence to help him with his energy. He would do best in a home with older children.Apply at wbdr.orgapply at wbdr.org

Story
Meet Kenai! Hey friends! My name is Kenai, and I'm am as handsome as they come! I'm a pretty special adult dog who needs someone in my life who will show me guidance and all the good things to do. I'm housetrained, but I'm not a fan of crates, but I'm not destructive if I need to be left alone. I'd really rather not be home by myself very often. I really attach myself to my person and love going everywhere with them, riding shotgun, of course! I'm good with other dogs, but since I love food so much, it's best that I'm fed by myself, but I've been working at being a good boy, and practicing not having to be in a different part of the house to eat. My style of play might be a little rough for smaller dogs, or since I think cats are really fun to chase, and shouldn't live with them, it might just be a small animal thing that I'm not a fan of. I love humans, but I don't think I should live with the little ones, as I'm a pretty strong, large 65 pound dog, and I would never want to knock them over or hurt them. I enjoy going on walks, but if I see a squirrel, walking is out of the question. Then we run! I'm normally pretty good with having slack in my leash, but sometimes I pull, and that's where a strong handler comes in. Actually, it's probably best if I have someone with husky experience. I can't be on a tie out, so I'll need to go for walks for potty breaks or have a very secured fenced-in yard. If you know huskies, you know that I'm everything great all rolled into one! I'm a talker, and needy (that classifies as great, right?), and obedient and active! I could stand to lose a few, or more, pounds to get myself to a healthy weight and make my joints happier in the long run, so I need someone who is active. We could go on hikes together, and I could help you train for that 5k you've been wanting to do! I'd love it if my new person works from home or I could go to work with them. Remember, I love humans and not fond of being left alone! I'm a really good boy, and trying to find my forever people at this point in life seems very daunting! Do you think you have what it takes to make me a happy guy for all the rest of my days? *Kenai is being fostered in the Janesville area. Story
About Me: Name: Cajun Breed (or best guess): Pomski Approximate Age: 5 months Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 20 lb Adoption Fee: $550 Requirements: Loving family Why In Rescue: Breeder surrender Update 3/2024:  Cajun is the final puppy waiting for a home.  He is a great puppy who just needs a home where he will be loved.  Since he has grown up at a shelter, he will need to learn how to walk on a leash and work on housetraining.  Are you the person Cajun has been waiting for? Profile:  Cajun and his sisters came from a farm where they let their dogs breed.  They weren't able to find them homes so they are now in rescue getting socialized and medically ready for adoption.  They are likely to be medium sized dogs when full grown, and need exercise and enrichment to stay happy.  They haven't lived in a home, so will need work with housetraining, and figuring out what life in a home is all about.  They haven't walked on leashes yet, so a fenced yard would be helpful for housetraining.  Another dog in the home may help the pups adjust, but remember many senior dogs aren't going to appreciate the energy level and playfulness of a young puppy.  If interested in meeting one of the pups, please fill out the pre-adoption application.  They pups will be able to go home after 1/11. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS March 23, 2024, 4:14 pm
