Braison is a goofy energetic dog. Terrier/Hound mix. He is very affectionate, loves to be with me, follows me everywhere almost from day one. I'm 74 and just can’t give him the attention that he needs to flourish. He’s very happy to meet other people and animals, He needs to be with a family with Kids, and or other pets. He was raised with cats, is fully vaccinated, Neutered, in good health. I will provide Vet records, Toys, Bed, Food, Collar, Winter Jacket, Harness, and treats. He walks great on a leash, obeys some commands, Sit, Stay, Down, Paw, Fetch etc. He’s learning to press voice buttons for Treats, Food, Water, Outside, etc... NO Rehoming fee, but thoroughly vetting all applicants. His new home must be a house with a fenced yard, a family with kids or other pets. I have rejected several applicants, only because they didn’t fit my requirements for him. I won’t bring him to a shelter. I'll take him back if you're not happy with him. You know the old, Its not you, its me?Its not Cokie, its us. We have a senior cat and have adopted two senior dogs before. Cokie may be 15, but she is an actual dog. She is curious and will beeline for the cat, which sends our timid cat upstairs. Cokie gets some separation anxiety and she will sometimes bark in the middle of the night when she realizes she is alone downstairs. We cannot make both animals happy and the cat was here first. Cokie can jump up on couches and chairs and navigate stairs with no issues. Cokie is a fun dog who prefers the run of the house and be with her people as much as possible. She is curious, is always in a great mood, and is always up for pets or playing. She is good on a leash and walks at a happy trot, is friendly with most dogs, is friendly with children (but maybe not very small children), and has lived with a small dog most of her life. We took her in after a friends elderly dad had gotten too immobile and could no longer take care of her.

Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required:BEGINNER – “Beginner” doesn’t necessarily mean easy as all dogs will require time, work, and patience, but we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale because of their breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup. Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.) Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs. Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats?Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds. Comfortable with children? (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees?Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses.
