You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hi my name is Roxy! I was taken from a home that could only be entered by first putting on a respirator, and gloves along with my half-sisters Isabell & Smokey. The 3 of us are so thankful to be with 2nd Chance! I am a very sweet gal who loves affection and kisses, I have LOTS of energy, and Smokey and I LOVE to play together. Smokey and I have lived together all of our lives, so for that reason we must be adopted together. We require a fenced yard.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Hi, I am a 16.5 year young Jack Russell. I ended up at the shelter due to no fault of my own and my foster people say I am the best boy. I am very energetic for my age and would enjoy walks, play time and I LOVE water. If you get the hose out, I will be your best friend. I do fine with other low-key dogs. I am in good health with just some minor old man bumps. I'm looking for a home to spend the rest of my days filled with love and play. I sleep through the night and do well in a crate during the day. If you look for me, I'm usually hanging out on the back of the couch or with my people giving little licks. I promise to give my family the best love if they take a chance on an old guy like me. ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Review our adoption contract and application. 2. Call your vet and references to inform them that a rescue representative will be calling. 3. Complete adoption application and submit following appropriate link below: Dog/Puppy: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HRMD/Dog Cat/kitten: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HRMD/Cat It takes us about 1-3 days to process applications. Once approved, we ask that all members of the household (including dogs) be available for meeting the animal within 5 days. If the meeting goes well, you will submit payment electronically and be able to take your new family member home with you immediately! If for whatever reason you do not take the animal home after the first meeting, please understand that we will continue to process applications for the animal and availability is not guaranteed. 4. Please review these resources prior to the meeting to be prepared with what to expect when bringing a new dog home: a. ttps://www.petfinder.com/dogs/bringing-a-dog-home/tips-for-first-30-days-dog/ b. https://www.dogstardaily.com/free-downloads 5. Story
Hello there! My name is Mama Sugar, and I can’t wait to meet you! First, a little bit about me. I am a 3 year old, 19 pound, female, Jack Russell Terrier mix. My foster mama says that I am low energy and that I love to snuggle! She also says that I am a little timid and slow to warm up to new people but that once I earn your trust we will be fast friends. My foster home has dogs, little kids, and dog-savy cats and I am doing fabulous with both of them! Due to my timidness, slow introductions with the little kids is best. I am great in my crate and I am doing amazing with my house training. I have a few set backs at times due to the weather (I don’t like this cold, rainy weather in PA) and my timidness. I am up to date on my vaccines and preventatives. If you think you may be my forever home, please apply at  www.pack9rescue.org  today, I am waiting in Harrisburg for you! Story
We found Nala online, she was the runt of her liter and was/is shy, fearful. She has issues with fear anxiety. She is very sweet and loves to cuddle. She will be 2 on September 8th. Though she is ok with other animals we feel she would do best to be in a 1 animal household. She needs alot of attention and someone who can help her work through her fears and anxiety issues.
