Story
Calling all experienced Jack Russell Terrier lovers! Are you looking for a true, full-of-energy JRT? Meet Akira — the playful adventure-seeker! Akira is a spirited 15 lb Jack Russell Terrier who is ready to bounce her way into the heart of the right person. True to her breed, she is incredibly smart, curious, energetic, and always looking for her next adventure. She loves exploring new places, car rides, toys, and dog puzzles. Thanks to her compact size, she’s the perfect companion to take almost anywhere. Akira is also very affectionate and deeply bonded to her people. She loves cuddling, being close to her humans, and being part of everyday life. She is used to having people around and should not be left alone for long periods of time. Like many intelligent working breeds, Akira needs plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Without proper outlets for her energy and curiosity, she can become destructive with household objects. Please note that Jack Russell Terriers are not the right fit for every household, especially for first-time dog adopters. Akira is a textbook JRT — she comes with all the amazing qualities people love about the breed, along with the strong personality and quirks that require experienced handling, structure, and leadership. Akira has territorial instincts typical of the breed and does not do well with strangers entering her home, so slow, structured introductions are essential. Her ideal home is an adult-only, calm household with limited visitors and confident owners who can provide clear boundaries and guidance. Akira is good with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship, especially with larger, balanced dogs. However, she can be alpha and bossy when first meeting new dogs, so proper introductions and an experienced adopter who can confidently manage interactions are important. Akira is potty trained and comfortable using potty pads or a doggy door. She is crate trained, spayed, and up to date on all her shots. Akira would thrive in an active, structured home with people familiar with Jack Russell Terriers. In return, she will reward her family with loyalty, cuteness, endless entertainment, cuddles, and adventure. If you think Akira could be the perfect fit for your household and lifestyle, we would love for you to apply to adopt her! Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Akira the home she deserves! Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##2241705##

Story
This beautiful mama was part of a back yard breeder-hoarding case that brought her and 7 babies into the Dallas Dog family. Pekoe is a Dachshund/Jack Russel mix, just as sweet as can be but a little timid. She has few interactions with humans, just left outside to be a baby making machine. Pekoe deserves a life that provides soft beds, pampered care and lots of love. You can meet her by applying at www.dallasdog.org

Story
☕️💕 Meet the Tea Litter! 💕☕️ Meet Hibiscus, a little girl from the "Tea" litter. These babies are a Dachshund/Jack Russel mix. Born in the filth and neglect of a backyard breeder’s yard, they deserved so much more than the circumstances they were born into. The moment we learned about them, we stepped in and got this little family to safety. Since then, they’ve traded dirt and uncertainty for soft beds, full bellies, and the love of an amazing foster family. They’ve been learning that people can be kind, cuddles are wonderful, and the world is a much safer place than they ever knew. Now, these sweet little pups are healthy, happy, and getting ready for the best chapter of all—their happily ever afters. 🐾❤️ Like any puppies, they’re playful, curious, and full of silly antics that will keep you laughing. They can’t wait to find families who will cherish them for the rest of their lives and show them that their difficult beginning does not define their future. ✨ Their story started in a backyard. ✨ Their future belongs in a loving home. Could one of these little cups of sweetness be the perfect addition to your family? 🫖🐶💕 www.dallasdog.org/adopt Rld Photography TX, LLC These precious babies are just weeks old, but they’ve already overcome a heartbreaking start to life. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. Story
Meet Annabelle – Learning Love, One Day at a Time Annabelle is a 3-year-old terrier mix who is discovering just how wonderful life can be as a loved family dog. Once a stray, she’s leaving her “street-dog” days behind and learning what it means to feel safe, secure, and cherished.  Annabelle enjoys running joyful zoomies and playing with her foster brother. She is happy just to be with him and her people. When she first arrived, Annabelle didn’t quite know how to play nicely and could be a little defensive. But with patience and consistency, she’s learning that she doesn’t have to compete for love anymore—it’s freely given, and she’s soaking that lesson in more every day. Annabelle’s personality is full of charm—she’s a petite, happy bundle of excitement when her foster comes home. She is crate and house trained. Is good with other dogs and children. Annabelle loves a walk but will need to be on leash until she is used to her new environment. She would do well with a home that would provide a yard to run in and a stable home she’s never had before. In return, she’ll give you loyalty, affection, and the joy of watching a dog truly come into her own. If you’re looking for a rewarding adoption and a dog who will love you with her whole heart, Annabelle is ready to meet you. ##2676374##

Story
Meet Kiki. She is an adorable Terrier mix. She is great with people and children.  Her lil eye had to be removed earlier this year. If you have another dog it would need to be a stronger type as she is rather dominant with weaker pups so might be best as an only dog..She is about 2 years old and weighs 10 lbs.  ##2121763##

Story
We were picking up another rescue dog at the shelter and they brought out Niko.  He was matted badly and we brought him in.  He is now with a foster and doing well.  He takes a few seconds to warm up but otherwise a sweetheart.  He did not come from a good place.  His eyes were matted almost shut and he was filthy.  We don't know for sure  if this is correct but he might be best with older children instead of toddlers.  Somene is going to get a sweet one when he is adopted.   ##2769657##
