Story
Calling all experienced Jack Russell Terrier lovers! Are you looking for a true, full-of-energy JRT? Meet Akira — the playful adventure-seeker! Akira is a spirited 15 lb Jack Russell Terrier who is ready to bounce her way into the heart of the right person. True to her breed, she is incredibly smart, curious, energetic, and always looking for her next adventure. She loves exploring new places, car rides, toys, and dog puzzles. Thanks to her compact size, she’s the perfect companion to take almost anywhere. Akira is also very affectionate and deeply bonded to her people. She loves cuddling, being close to her humans, and being part of everyday life. She is used to having people around and should not be left alone for long periods of time. Like many intelligent working breeds, Akira needs plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Without proper outlets for her energy and curiosity, she can become destructive with household objects. Please note that Jack Russell Terriers are not the right fit for every household, especially for first-time dog adopters. Akira is a textbook JRT — she comes with all the amazing qualities people love about the breed, along with the strong personality and quirks that require experienced handling, structure, and leadership. Akira has territorial instincts typical of the breed and does not do well with strangers entering her home, so slow, structured introductions are essential. Her ideal home is an adult-only, calm household with limited visitors and confident owners who can provide clear boundaries and guidance. Akira is good with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship, especially with larger, balanced dogs. However, she can be alpha and bossy when first meeting new dogs, so proper introductions and an experienced adopter who can confidently manage interactions are important. Akira is potty trained and comfortable using potty pads or a doggy door. She is crate trained, spayed, and up to date on all her shots. Akira would thrive in an active, structured home with people familiar with Jack Russell Terriers. In return, she will reward her family with loyalty, cuteness, endless entertainment, cuddles, and adventure. If you think Akira could be the perfect fit for your household and lifestyle, we would love for you to apply to adopt her! Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Akira the home she deserves! Story
Meet Sass! Sass is an 8.5-year-old Terrier mix weighing just 14 pounds. Don't let her name fool you—she's a sweet, gentle little dog with a loving heart. She can be a bit timid when meeting new people, but with a little patience and kindness, she quickly warms up and enjoys being part of the family. Sass does well with people of all ages, including children, and loves the comfort of a calm home. She's quiet and well-mannered indoors, making her an easy companion to relax with. On walks, Sass is a bit more vocal and likes to bark when she sees other dogs. She especially isn't a fan of large dogs and would be happiest in a home where she can avoid close interactions with them. Sass is not a good match for a home with cats.  With thoughtful management and an understanding adopter, she's a wonderful little companion who has so much love to give. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate dog who enjoys a peaceful home and just needs a little time to build trust, Sass could be the perfect match.   Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Sass the home she deserves! Story
Meet Pekoe, affectionately known as Pokey by her foster family. ❤️ Pekoe is around 3 years old, although she acts like a little old lady. She was bred as a Jack Russell, but with her long body and short legs, she might have some Dachshund in there too. Whatever she is, one thing is certain: she is absolutely adorable. Pekoe came from a backyard breeding situation where she spent her days in an outdoor pen with no cover, dirty water, and mulch to sleep on. When she had puppies, she was put into a tiny crate to care for them. She was an amazing mama, but she had very little human interaction and never really learned that people could be trusted. Because of that, Pekoe's journey has been all about learning how to be a dog instead of a breeding machine. And she is making progress every day. Her foster family calls her Pokey because she moves at a snail's pace. 😂 Her decompression period has taken longer than most, and she still isn't quite ready to hop on the couch or snuggle with her humans. But don't let her slow pace fool you, because she's beginning to come out of her shell. She has started running sometimes, and watching her discover that she can actually play and have fun is pretty special. Her little booty shake is probably the cutest thing ever. 🥹 Pekoe is crate trained, potty trained, and does well coexisting with other dogs. She's even started interacting and playing a little with her foster siblings! She loves butt scratches and is becoming more comfortable accepting pets. Recently, she even took a treat directly from her foster mom's hand, which may sound like a tiny thing, but for Pekoe, it's a HUGE milestone. She also has some pretty adorable quirks. If she hears puppies on a video, she comes running to find them. Her mama instincts are still strong. She loves squeaky toys, especially balls, and likes to collect and hoard them all in her crate. She still loves digging in the dirt and will happily lie down in it, probably because that's what she has always known. But she does have one dislike: the ice maker dropping ice. 😂 Apparently, that sound is completely unacceptable. Pekoe is not going to be the dog who jumps into your lap on day one. She needs patience, consistency, and a quiet environment where she can continue to decompress and learn that she is safe. But every little step she takes is incredibly rewarding. She has already gone from a scared, neglected mama who knew very little about life outside a breeding pen to a sweet little dog who is beginning to run, play, accept pets, take treats from a human hand, and show off her adorable booty shake. Pekoe doesn't need someone to "fix" her. She needs someone willing to give her time. And if you do, you'll get to watch her discover who she was always meant to be. ❤️🐾

Story
Ruby's story is heartbreaking. She came from a backyard breeder whose owner sadly passed away. The family planned to euthanize her, but we couldn't let that happen. She now has a second chance- but she needs a foster to help her start this new chapter. Ruby was found in a hoarding, breeding situation. She was having to stay outside in terrible conditions with no clean water. DogRRR stepped in to rescue her and started her on medication. Ruby is a very sweet dog. She likes to cuddle and she tolerates her foster brothers! She likes to be with her person. She likes to follow her foster mom around and loves to lay in the sun. She will definitely let you know when she has to go potty. She is waiting for her forever family.

Story
Meet Papi - A happy go-lucky puppy Papi is a handsome Terrier/Chiweenie mix with a happy-go-lucky personality and enough puppy energy to keep everyone on their toes! This boy is always ready for his next adventure, whether that means playing with his furry friends, chasing toys, going for a car ride, or following his foster family around to see what they’re up to. Papi absolutely loves everyone and would love an active family who wants a fun, playful companion. He plays wonderfully with other dogs and has plenty of energy to spare—he can easily outrun and outfetch his playmates! He has not yet been tested around cats. He’s still a puppy and working on his housebreaking skills, but he reliably uses potty pads. Because Papi is still learning how to regulate his strength and enthusiasm, a family with children over five years old would be the best fit for him. Papi loves being involved in whatever is happening. Following his foster parents around the house and yard is one of his favorite activities, and he even likes to "help" in the garden. He’s still working on learning the difference between flowers and weeds, though! After a full day of puppy fun, Papi knows how to settle down. At night he’s ready to relax on the couch and enjoy some serious cuddle time. He prefers not to be alone and sleeps best right next to his people throughout the night. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate puppy who wants to be your sidekick for all of life's adventures—and your gardening assistant (with supervision!)—Papi might just be your guy! Papi is ready for a family who can keep up with his puppy energy, help him continue learning, and give him all the love and companionship he craves. ##2827309##
