Story
Danielle aka Coco is a sweet, comical little girl. She loves being petted and is quick to offer her belly for tummy rubs. She enjoys tearing around the backyard, at breakneck speed but stops after a couple of laps. She loves playing with her foster buddy, Marvin (aka Vinnie), but she can sometimes challenge other small dogs. She will also initially challenge larger dogs, but stops after being put in her place a time or two with a bark from the larger dog. Coco was returned for nipping at a baby but she was okay with toddlers in her foster home when she returned to our program. Because of her history, I would not recommend placing her with babies or children under the age of 6 or so. A trial period with any other dogs in the home would be recommended. She could also be an only dog and be perfectly happy. She loves people. ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. Story
Meet Cleo, a very affectionate little girl who is looking for a loving home. Cleo is 20 pounds and 2 years old. She enjoys cuddling, spending quality time with her people, playing tug-of-war with her toys, learning new tricks, and belly rubs. She is full of love and is a great companion! Her favorite time of the day is the morning because she gets so excited when she sees her people are up and ready to give her some attention.  Cleo’s past is unknown as she was a stray. She is thriving in the stability that a loving foster home provides. Cleo loves to be with her people but she is not the biggest fan of other dogs. Because of this, it would be best for Cleo to be the only dog in a household. Cleo is still working on: getting along with new dogs, not chewing on small items when she is left alone, and car rides. These situations may require additional training/exposure. Cleo is eager to learn! She is a curious little dog, loves to play with her toys and sniff for kibble in her snuffle mat. She is getting more comfortable with bath time and is doing well with housetraining, for the moment as she is still learning. Wherever you go, you can count on looking down and seeing Cleo at your side. She is a loyal companion, always ready to accompany you and snuggle up next to you.   Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. Story
Hi, my name is Walker. The vet said I’m about 4 years old.  I am a happy boy and I love people and dogs. I weigh about 30 lbs. My activities outside including chasing squirrels and other, not to be named, varmints, as I think I have a lot of terrier in me. Playing catch and batting a tennis ball around occupies me for a while and then – SQUIRREL! Inside I have a lot of toys that my sibling shares with me. My foster mom says I make good choices and only chew on toys, because I'm a Good boy!!! My foster sibling and I have a great time. I am friendly and love to play. Treats get my attention, and I am currently in training and I know a lot! Do I bark, you might ask? Well, I am NOT a cat!, so yes, but mostly with a purpose. I am not chatty but I will let you know if I think something has changed around me. I enjoy taking walks and sniffing, and I am perfect at meeting people and dogs. My goal is to have a family that will be kind to me, love me, and give me lots of attention. I will gladly reciprocate. Having another dog in my family would be perfect. Looking forward to lots of happy tail wags! ##1747931##

Story
Dex is a 10 year old terrier mix that came from a hoarding situation.  He arrived very scared, but with love and affection is coming out of his shell.  Very sweet, but very timid. We think he received minimal or no human contact. This little guy will need a quiet home with someone who will be very patient with him while he continues to learn a life of love from human(s). He will take some time to trust you. He is food motivated and a fast learner. He needs more leash training. We are working on potty training. He loves to play with other dogs and is very submissive. Once you gain his trust, he's playful and likes to be pet and loves belly rubs. He does like his alone time sometimes.   ##1217955##

Story
Meet Peanut and Scruffy, a dynamic duo of delight! These two tiny tails are inseparable best friends, sharing a bond that's as strong as their love for cuddles and treats. Peanut, the shy one of the pair, is as timid as a mouse but twice as sweet. With his delicate demeanor and gentle disposition, he melts hearts with just a wag of his tail. Despite his small stature, Peanut's loyalty to his best friend Scruffy knows no bounds. Scuffy, on the other hand, may be petite, but his personality shines bright like a star. Fearless and full of zest, hes always by Peanut's side, offering comfort and companionship whenever needed. Together, they navigate the big world around them, finding courage in each other's presence. Their co-dependent relationship is evident in every wag of their tails and every snuggle shared. Whether they're exploring new adventures or simply lounging in the sun, Peanut and Scruffy prove that the best things come in small packages—and that true friendship knows no size. Peanut is the white and tan male; Scruffy is the golden blonde male. These two cuties were dumped , and after days of people trying to get them, one of them spent about an hour sitting on the side of the street with them and coaxing them to come to them..  Finally they came to her, and  she got them in a crate, took them home, bathed and feed them and have had them since.   They are both super sweet and are great little dogs.  They are playful and are healthy.. Scruffy weighs about 15 lbs ##2038136##

Story
Frosty is our adorable 47 pound 2 year old scruffy boy.  He has not met a person or a dog he doesn't like. Frosty loves going to events and will be your restaurant patio pal.   He loves going for walks and just hanging out. He has a medium energy level and likes to cuddle and can even play scrabble (okay, maybe he's not the best speller!) You get the idea though. Frosty is a doll and deserves only the best home! He will be happiest in a home with  fenced yard as he loves to sun himself and watch the squirrels. Another dog in the home who will play with him is ideal.  And he must have an owner willing to cuddle!   To meet Frosty in person visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online adoption application.  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. All poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.  DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and surrounding areas. ##1881137##

Story
Meet Pete, a playful and joyful little boy who knows how to have a good time. Whether it's wrestling with balls, toys, or anything that smells enticing, Pete is up for the challenge. He's even the type to stop and smell the roses, enjoying life's simple pleasures. While Pete can entertain himself, he thrives when another dog is around to share in the fun. After all the excitement of smelling and playing, he's happy to curl up in your arms, on your lap, or by your side for a relaxing "chill" session. Pete's personality is nothing short of huge, promising to bring amazement wherever he goes. This lovable pup is fond of kids, dogs, and anyone willing to spend quality time with him during the day. Despite his adventurous past of wandering around train tracks and causing a traffic pause when he was found, Pete is not a daredevil – he's just a guy on the lookout for a loving family to call his own. If you're ready for a bundle of joy with a big heart, Pete is the perfect addition to your home. ##1872059##
