True to her breed, Akira is incredibly smart, curious, and always on the lookout for her next adventure.   She absolutely loves going for walks, playing with her toys and dog puzzles. Akira does well with older, respectful kids (teens) who understand how to interact with dogs. She isn’t the best fit for families with young children, as she doesn’t enjoy their high energy or playful handling.   She gets along with other dogs and enjoys their company, though she prefers slow, gentle introductions when meeting new furry friends   Akira is potty trained and is comfortable using potty pads or a doggy door. She is also crate trained, spayed and up to date on shots.   Akira would thrive in a home that offers plenty of physical and mental stimulation. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. We have named this cutie Maya. We think she was dumped behind a wall and on a creek. She could not get out without getting in the creek and when she did she was wet as a noodle. She endured two heavy nights of thunder and heavy rain and another very cold night. We finally got a trapper to get her and she has been with our Founder getting lots of love and socialization with other dogs. She would thrive in a home where she is with someone that is home more than not - someone retired would be great. She is extremely loving and really enjoys being in your lap.
