My name is Lucas, and I’m a 4-year-old male Jack Russell Terrier × Welsh mix weighing around 10kg. I have a compact, sturdy body — but my short little legs are what everyone notices first. People often say I look extra adorable when I walk, and I think it’s because every step I take naturally makes people smile. 😊 For a long time, I lived in a shelter. I was rescued just before euthanasia, and since then I’ve been given a second chance at life. Now I’m staying in a training facility where I’m slowly learning what the world is like outside the shelter. Everything still feels new to me — other dogs playing freely, interesting smells on walks, toys, and especially kind human attention. It’s almost like I’m finally experiencing what it means to just be a dog. Because I’m discovering so much for the first time, I get very curious about everything around me. But there are also things I still need help understanding. Sometimes, if a hand suddenly reaches over my head or someone touches me unexpectedly, I can get scared and react defensively. In those moments, it may look like I’m trying to bite, but it’s really just fear — a way for me to protect myself when I feel unsure. When people take time to approach me gently, that behavior becomes much less, and my true personality starts to show. Because deep down… I’m actually a very sweet and affectionate boy. 💛 I just need time. What I need most is not quick bonding, but patience and understanding. If you let me come to you at my own pace instead of forcing touch or rushing interactions, I will slowly begin to trust you. It helps a lot when people approach me from the side or below rather than reaching over my head, and when they use calm voices and positive experiences to help me feel safe. Once I trust someone, I become a completely different dog — I love attention, I follow my person around, and I show a very affectionate and playful side. I also need time to adjust because I haven’t really experienced normal home life before. A house, daily routines, leash walking in neighborhoods, being alone for short periods, and house training — all of these are still new to me. At first, I may feel nervous or make mistakes, but that’s not bad behavior. It’s just me learning how to live in a home. What helps me grow is guidance, not punishment. With a stable routine, regular walks, and positive reinforcement, I can gradually build confidence and feel more secure. I’m smart and curious, and with the right support, I learn step by step at my own pace. In the beginning, it’s really important for me to have a calm environment and not too much overwhelming stimulation. If I’m given space and time to feel safe, I will slowly open my heart. And when I do, I will stay by your side with all my loyalty and love. I may not be the easiest dog at first, but I promise I have a heart that is ready to love deeply once I feel safe. An elderly man had these 4 pups dropped on his property and he didn’t know what to do with them. He approached a neighbor that he knew to do rescue but she, too, was having her own problems with too many dogs and she approached me. They were already 3 ½ mos old. (We gave them a DOB of 2/15/26.) We took them in and started shots, neutering and TLC. I see 2 puppies with one father and 2 puppies with another father. I did a phone scan for breed-types and came out with varying suggestions so as we list each one, I will list the differences. MAJOR-Possibly a mixture of Jack Russell, Rat Terrier, and Beagle. He is currently 6 mos old and weighs 12#. I expect him to be 22# when grown. He is a delightful short-legged little dog. The Beagle really shows up in him. Even with those short legs, he sure can run and keep up with the rest. He’s the one that is our comedy act with his brothers and sister. He loves to play with all the toys and loves the water tub. It is quite hot right now in Texas…so they all love the water. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. Meet Missy & Patches, Twice the Sweetness Some things are simply better together, and after a lifetime side by side, Missy and Patches are ready to find a forever home where they can spend their golden years exactly that way. Missy, 12, is the mellow, confident half of this mother-daughter duo. She's easygoing, food motivated, and a big fan of life's finer things: leisurely sniffy walks, sunbathing, tasty snacks, and settling in for a good nap. She may politely hang back while her daughter demands attention, but don't be fooled. Missy would very much like a spot on your lap, thank you! When she's feeling silly, she'll roll around huffing or give Patches a little side nibble to get a game started. Patches, 10, is the affectionate little shadow of the family. She can be shy initially, but once you're hers, she's ALL IN. Expect cuddles, kisses, and a companion who would prefer you remain within easy snuggling distance at all times. She'll even barge ahead of Mom to make sure she gets her fair share of attention! When emotions run high, Patches communicates through adorable howls and yips, and she's mastered "raccoon hands," standing up with both front paws in the air. Don't let their ages fool you, either. These ladies still get the zoomies, chasing each other through the house and engaging in enthusiastic mother-daughter wrestling matches, especially first thing in the morning and right before bed. Missy is estimated to have been born in May 2014 and weighs 12 lbs. Patches is estimated to have been born in May 2016 and weighs 8lbs. They are a mother/daughter bonded pair and we are looking at adopting them together into a loving home to live out their golden years. Missy & Patches’s adoption fee is $650 for the pair.
