Story
My name is Lucas, and I’m a 4-year-old male Jack Russell Terrier × Welsh mix weighing around 10kg. I have a compact, sturdy body — but my short little legs are what everyone notices first. People often say I look extra adorable when I walk, and I think it’s because every step I take naturally makes people smile. 😊 For a long time, I lived in a shelter. I was rescued just before euthanasia, and since then I’ve been given a second chance at life. Now I’m staying in a training facility where I’m slowly learning what the world is like outside the shelter. Everything still feels new to me — other dogs playing freely, interesting smells on walks, toys, and especially kind human attention. It’s almost like I’m finally experiencing what it means to just be a dog. Because I’m discovering so much for the first time, I get very curious about everything around me. But there are also things I still need help understanding. Sometimes, if a hand suddenly reaches over my head or someone touches me unexpectedly, I can get scared and react defensively. In those moments, it may look like I’m trying to bite, but it’s really just fear — a way for me to protect myself when I feel unsure. When people take time to approach me gently, that behavior becomes much less, and my true personality starts to show. Because deep down… I’m actually a very sweet and affectionate boy. 💛 I just need time. What I need most is not quick bonding, but patience and understanding. If you let me come to you at my own pace instead of forcing touch or rushing interactions, I will slowly begin to trust you. It helps a lot when people approach me from the side or below rather than reaching over my head, and when they use calm voices and positive experiences to help me feel safe. Once I trust someone, I become a completely different dog — I love attention, I follow my person around, and I show a very affectionate and playful side. I also need time to adjust because I haven’t really experienced normal home life before. A house, daily routines, leash walking in neighborhoods, being alone for short periods, and house training — all of these are still new to me. At first, I may feel nervous or make mistakes, but that’s not bad behavior. It’s just me learning how to live in a home. What helps me grow is guidance, not punishment. With a stable routine, regular walks, and positive reinforcement, I can gradually build confidence and feel more secure. I’m smart and curious, and with the right support, I learn step by step at my own pace. In the beginning, it’s really important for me to have a calm environment and not too much overwhelming stimulation. If I’m given space and time to feel safe, I will slowly open my heart. And when I do, I will stay by your side with all my loyalty and love. I may not be the easiest dog at first, but I promise I have a heart that is ready to love deeply once I feel safe. I didn’t always have it easy — I was left behind at an oyster factory in Tongyeong, forgotten and alone. Even after having four puppies, no one looked out for me… but that’s all in the past now. I was rescued, and ever since, I've been learning how beautiful life can be when you’re loved.Now I know how to trust, how to play, and most of all — how to love back. I’ve even picked up some smart tricks like “sit,” “paw,” and “go to your house!” Not bad, right?I’m super friendly and absolutely adore people — men and women alike. I haven’t met many young children yet, and since I’m pretty bouncy and energetic, I might do best with older kids who can match my vibe.Other dogs? LOVE them. I get excited to meet new furry friends and will happily introduce myself first! I haven’t met any cats yet, so I can’t say how we’d get along, but I don’t have any aggression or prey drive — I’m more about snuggles and zoomies than anything else.I’m still working on leash training, and I’m not totally used to living indoors yet, but I’m a quick learner. If you show me the way, I’ll follow. I’m a good girl with my barking, too — I might bark when someone new comes in or if I’m really excited, but if you say “no,” I usually settle down quickly.I love being touched, hugged, and cuddled, especially by women. I’ll even give you gentle hugs to show you how much I care. With male guardians, I’m respectful — if you’re not in the mood for snuggles, I’ll understand and give you space. I enjoy toys but I don’t destroy things in the house, and I’m not possessive over food or toys either. Missy, 12, is the mellow, confident half of this mother-daughter duo. She's easygoing, food motivated, and a big fan of life's finer things: leisurely sniffy walks, sunbathing, tasty snacks, and settling in for a good nap. She may politely hang back while her daughter demands attention, but don't be fooled. Missy would very much like a spot on your lap, thank you! When she's feeling silly, she'll roll around huffing or give Patches a little side nibble to get a game started. Patches, 10, is the affectionate little shadow of the family. She can be shy initially, but once you're hers, she's ALL IN. Expect cuddles, kisses, and a companion who would prefer you remain within easy snuggling distance at all times. She'll even barge ahead of Mom to make sure she gets her fair share of attention! When emotions run high, Patches communicates through adorable howls and yips, and she's mastered "raccoon hands," standing up with both front paws in the air. Don't let their ages fool you, either. Meet Annie! Don't tell Annie she's blind—she hasn't let it slow her down for a second. This sweet 10-year-old Jack Russell mix is proof that joy has nothing to do with eyesight. Annie approaches life with confidence, curiosity, and a tail that never seems to stop wagging. She loves meeting new people, enjoys leisurely walks, chases after tennis balls, soaks up the sunshine, and is happiest when she's curled up beside the people she loves. Annie adores everyone she meets and would make a wonderful companion for a family looking for an affectionate, easygoing dog. She would likely do well with respectful children and may also be happy living with other dogs after proper introductions. Cats are unknown, but based on her gentle nature, we think she may do well with them too. While Annie is blind, she navigates her world remarkably well. She's confident in familiar environments and relies on her other senses—and her trusting spirit—to guide her. Because of her vision loss, she'll need a family committed to keeping her safe with a secure routine and regular veterinary care, including ongoing monitoring of her eyes. Annie has a low-to-medium energy level that's the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. She enjoys exploring on walks, playing when the mood strikes, and then stretching out for a sunny afternoon nap. A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus so she can safely enjoy one of her favorite pastimes: basking in the sunshine. Like many senior dogs, Annie does have a few medical considerations, including a heart condition that is currently being managed, the need for a dental cleaning, and a daily joint supplement to help keep her comfortable. She also eats a prescription hypoallergenic diet due to a chicken allergy. What Annie is really looking for is simple: a family who will love her for exactly who she is. She doesn't need perfect eyesight to live a full, happy life—she just needs someone willing to see how truly special she is. Annie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.
