Cookie is a sweet 9-year-old Labradoodle weighing 45 lbs. We brought him home from a breeder when he was just 8 weeks old. He's well-trained and doesn't require much exercise—just a pleasant 15-20 minute walk in the morning and evening. Over the past year, we've faced some challenges that prevent us from caring for him as we would like. We're hoping to find someone who can give Cookie a loving home, preferably someone who stays at home and can spend quality time with him.

     Meet PERIDOT Peridot is an approximately 7-year-old, 12-pound mixed-breed girl—possibly a Dachshund/Poodle mix—who is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and free of parasites. She also happens to be one of those dogs who makes it very easy to fall in love.Peridot is sweet, affectionate, easygoing, and happiest when she is close to her person. Her tail seems to have only one setting: wagging. Mornings are her favorite because that means she gets to see her people again, and she greets them with the happiest little wiggles. She is potty trained, crate trained, and a very fast learner. She sleeps peacefully through the night and has shown no food aggression. She gets along well with other small dogs, but given the choice, Peridot would probably rather be curled up next to her human on the couch watching TV. Peridot does have a medical condition that her future family should understand. She has been diagnosed with low-grade mammary adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer affecting the mammary glands. Her veterinarian estimates that she may have another 1–5 years, although every dog's journey is different. Her mammary glands and any changes in her masses will need continued monitoring so that her comfort and quality of life remain the priority. Umbrella of Hope is committed to Peridot's well-being and will cover the cost of euthanasia when the time comes and it is no longer kind to ask her to stay. She deserves to live out her days surrounded by love, comfort, and all the good things life has to offer. And Peridot? She is still her same happy, loving little self. She wants to go for walks, snuggle up with her favorite people, collect all the treats, and enjoy the simple pleasures of being someone's beloved little dog. Her diagnosis hasn't changed her sunny personality or her desire to be part of a family. Peridot would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a devoted little companion who enjoys a predictable routine, gets along with other small dogs, has excellent house manners, and thinks the best seat in the house is the one directly beside you. Adopting Peridot means opening your heart to a dog whose future may be uncertain—but whose capacity to love is not. She doesn't need someone to feel sorry for her. She needs someone who sees the happy, affectionate little girl she is today and wants to make her days as wonderful as possible.      Two year old neutered male poodle mixMeet Little Wolf, a handsome 2-year-old, 18-pound boy who is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, free of parasites, and very ready to find his person. Little Wolf is sweet, playful, active, and absolutely loves other dogs. He enjoys his walks, does well in the car and crate, and once he decides you are safe, he is incredibly affectionate. He is also still a work in progress. When Little Wolf first came into foster care, he was severely matted, nervous, and protective. We do not know much about his life before rescue, but it is clear he did not receive the grooming, structure, or training he needed. Since then, he has made meaningful progress and continues to become more confident. Little Wolf tends to warm up more quickly to women and may need a little extra time and patience with men. He is not looking for someone who expects instant perfection. He needs someone who understands that trust is built through consistency, routine, and positive experiences. One thing Little Wolf has very strong feelings about? Other dogs are AWESOME. He loves to play and would be a fantastic companion for another playful dog. He may be too enthusiastic for a dog who values personal space, but he could also do well as an only dog as long as his person is able to give him plenty of attention, exercise, and interaction. His feelings about cats are still somewhat unknown. We think he may be able to live with a confident, dog-savvy cat, but careful introductions and the right feline personality would be important. Little Wolf also LOVES his walks. His foster home typically takes him out twice a day for walks of a little over a mile, and he is happiest when he has an opportunity to get outside, explore, and burn off some energy. He travels well, rides nicely in the car, and is comfortable in a crate, making him a pretty easy companion for adventures. House training is still a work in progress, but he is improving. He enjoys marking and exploring outside, so frequent potty breaks and a consistent routine will help. He is also perfectly comfortable wearing a belly band while he continues working on his manners. Because Little Wolf can become nippy when frightened or overwhelmed, we are looking for a home without young children. A calmer household where people can respect his boundaries and allow him to decompress will set him up for success. And there is a LOT to love about this guy: • Young and healthy• Handsome and freshly groomed• Loves other dogs• Great walking companion• Crate trained• Good in the car• Playful and active• Very affectionate once he trusts you• Making steady progress with confidence and house training Little Wolf does not need someone to “fix” him. He needs someone willing to show him, consistently, that he is safe. Someone who will keep him active, help him continue building confidence, give him appropriate boundaries, and understand that the payoff for a little patience may be an incredibly devoted companion. Little Wolf is fostered in the East San Francisco Bay Area, and we are open to out-of-area adopters who are willing to travel to meet him.
