My name is Babe Nico, and I’m here to introduce myself because I’m on the hunt for my forever family! I came all the way from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama with my four brothers. It was getting pretty crowded there, but luckily some wonderful people stepped in to help us. Now I’m safe and settling in while I wait for the family who’s meant just for me. If you saw my photo shoot, you probably already noticed that I’ve perfected the art of being both adorable and handsome. It’s a natural talent, really. But I’m not just good looks — I’m also a friendly, playful puppy who loves having fun and making new friends. I get along great with other dogs and enjoy playtime just as much as cuddle time. My humans say I’m a well-behaved boy and at the perfect age to learn all the important puppy skills. That means I’m ready for training, adventures, and growing into the very best companion you could ask for. I’d love a home that enjoys staying active and spending time together — I promise to keep your days full of wet-nose kisses, happy tail wags, and plenty of goofy puppy moments. So what do you think… could we be a match? If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who will love you with his whole puppy heart, I’m your guy. Apply to adopt me today and let’s start our forever adventure together! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Meet Scottie! This handsome scruffy boy came from the same property as our recent doodle mixes, Henrietta and Steve. The family who found them reached out to us about two additional dogs after their neighbor, who breeds doodle mixes, was jailed and the dogs were left abandoned on the property. Animal Control stepped in, removed the dogs, and Worthy Dog was asked to help. Scottie had been living outside and was covered in ticks, with little to no prior vet care. He’s already been groomed and neutered and, amazingly, tested negative for heartworm. Over the past week, he’s settled into his foster home, living with two adults, another dog, and meeting the grandkids who visit regularly. Home life is new for Scottie, and while he’s timid, he’s doing well. His foster mom, Cindy, is working with him daily to build confidence and help him adjust. She shared this update: “We named him Scottie since he looks like a distinguished Scottish gentleman, and after my son-in-law’s favorite golfer, Scottie Scheffler. I let the kids help name him. He’s doing better than I expected at this point. He walks great on leash and has good house manners. He’s still a little skittish with people and noises, but last night my grandkids came over, and he spent time with them. He’ll let them pet him once he’s settled on the couch, but he’s not fully comfortable with kids or strangers yet. He’s not aggressive at all, just timid and needs time to build trust. He may bark at visitors, but never at us. Scottie would do best with a confident, social dog in his new home. He loves every dog he meets and is very friendly and adaptable. There’s not an aggressive bone in his body. After one week, he’s already building trust. About 75% of the time I can walk right up to him, and the other 25% he may shy away. Sometimes he’ll run from me in the yard, but if I squat down, he’ll come over after a few minutes. Last night, for the first time, he came upstairs, jumped on my bed, and slept with me all night. I was shocked, but he followed my granddog, Buster, and is clearly learning from him.” Scottie will be coming to the DC metro area in mid-May ready to start his new life. Story
Meet Wyatt This sweet, budding senior was found wandering as a stray in the Carolina heat, tired, and covered in fleas. Thankfully, a kind Samaritan took him in and searched for his family, but sadly, no one ever came forward. We see countless dogs in need of rescue, and can only save them if we have a foster to take them in.  Thanks to our amazing, big-hearted foster Jen, the stars aligned for Wyatt, and we had a foster home ready to take him in. It did not take long for us to learn that this gentle boy is a pretty wonderful pup. Wyatt is sweet, funny, and easygoing, with a laidback personality that makes him a great companion. After a few nervous accidents during his first days, he quickly settled in and is now fully housetrained with a consistent routine. He is also crate-trained and does well in his crate when his foster mom is away for a few hours, though he will likely be trustworthy left out once comfortable in a new home. In his foster home, Wyatt gets along well with dogs and cats and loves people. He’s especially affectionate with his humans and enjoys attention and companionship. He bonds closely with “his person,” and has learned that attention can be shared with the pack. Wyatt enjoys car rides and going for walks, happily following his nose along the way. He walks well on leash and likes to get out and about. He has bursts of activity and will happily trot around the yard or follow the other dogs when they get playful, but he’s just as happy curling up for a long nap nearby.  Food is definitely one of Wyatt’s favorite things. He’s very treat-motivated and always excited for mealtime. Because he eats quickly and loves snacks, he’s currently working on shedding a few extra pounds.  Medically, Wyatt has limited vision in one eye from an old injury, but it doesn’t bother him, and he navigates his surroundings just fine. Like many senior dogs, he takes supplements to support his health. We did an ultrasound on him to make sure he had no internal issues, and thankfully, there were no major concerns. He currently takes medication for gallbladder “sludge,” likely related to poor nutrition in the past, along with liver and joint supplements we give to most of our seniors. Wyatt has great mobility overall, but can have a little trouble jumping onto higher surfaces. He can jump up on the couch no problem, but when getting into an SUV, he may need a boost, especially while he’s carrying a bit of extra weight. Wyatt needs to trim down, so watching his calories and regular walks will be an important part of his care. While he has playful moments, Wyatt spends much of his day enjoying long naps and relaxing near his people. At night, he sleeps peacefully in a cozy dog bed next to his foster mom’s bed. FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 3/11/26 " Wyatt is amazing. He’s great on leash, not a big puller. I think he would love a home with a flexible work schedule. He is crated at my house because of all the dogs and fosters we have coming in and out, but I think he would be just fine home alone (not destructive) and not crated. He doesn’t really do toys but likes chewing on Benebones, loves just lying in the sun, and going for walks. Sleeps all night on “his”bed right next to me on the floor at night. He will love someone being there so much. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be with you and will lie down behind you when you are in the kitchen cooking. He isn’t intrusive or bothersome; he’s just very connected. I think he will do great with another dog who matches his energy, small or large, but chill."  This sweet boy is such a resilient, affectionate soul who clearly hasn’t had an easy life, and he needs a loving home to live out his golden years Wyatt needs a FOSTER home to bring him to town. Open to foster-to-adopt, too!  Apply today!
