Story
This pups adoption fee has been partially sponsored by All Aboard or an All Aboard partner! The new adoption fee is reflected on the profile. ADOPTION FEE: $75 Kammie is a shy older gal looking for a very special home. Kammie was found as a stray in Texas with her 3 babies. All of Kammie's pups but one did not survive the conditions they were in prior to arriving at the shelter. Poor Kammie had most likely been roaming the streets her whole life, and had more than a few litters of pups throughout her life. Once Kammie arrived to AAAR she was placed with an experienced foster. Because she had had so much trauma, this girl was timid and determined to run to the streets as the only home she knew. When the fosters where gone Kammie had bust through the door, and fence to escape. This was in February of 2020 so the weather was very snowy and frigid. The nights in the single digits, Kammie was determined to find somewhere familiar. Our team was tracking Kammie right away, the whole community got involved. Kammie was a pro at being a stray, and knew exactly how to stay clear of people, and avoided being caught. We spent 9 days tracking, trying to trap her, and talking to professionals. Kammie was in our sight always, which was very frustrating, and caused us sleepless nights. Finally, on 2/7/20 Madison got a call that Kammie was hiding, freezing under someone's deck. This called for a plan that had to be executed very carefully, or Kammie would be on the run once again. Madison and her dad, Shawn showed up with a rabies pole, blankets, and Kammie's puppy to try and show her we meant well. It took 15 people to barricade the deck with blankets, while Shawn crawled under the deck and slipped the lead over Kammie's neck. Once he pulled Kammie out from under the deck, Madison put another lead on her to secure. Everyone took a deep breath, after 9 LONG days and the whole community's involvement, Kammie was finally safeand warm. Madison and Shawn took Kammie to the Animal Hospital of Colorado where she could get checked out. She was a bag of bones, her paw pads bloody raw, and her nose frost bitten. Madison wasn't going to let Kammie out of her reach. From her foster, Madison (rescue director): Fostering Kammie has been baby steps of process, but she has made major improvement over the years! This sweet girl took 3 months to even come out of her kennel by herself. She would hide as far back in her kennel as possible, and had to be dragged out with much effort to come out of her "den". Kammie was always on guard, keeping eyes on you at all times, walking slowly and close to the ground. She was never aggressive, just has never learned how to be a dog. She spent her years wandering the streets of Texas, protecting her babies, and fighting for her life. Kammie started to bond with me over cleaning her ears, brushing, and giving her chicken. This was a slow process and seemed to be one step forward, two steps back for over a year. I would celebrate over little accomplishments like "she wagged her tail briefly when I opened the door!!" She is very specific about where I am standing, looking, and what I am doing. She was quick to run back into her "safe place" - her kennel. One day I brought home a very insecure foster dog named Tank. He was a shy, nervous ball of anxiety and was also unsure of how to be a dog. He was very fearful of other dogs and would scream if they even sniffed him. I noticed Kammie was a little interested in Tank and he didn't seem to look at her in fear. I decided to open Tank's kennel to see if he and Kammie would want to sniff noses. Tank beamed out of his kennel right into Kammie's kennel. Kammie ran into her kennel as well, unsure of what was going on. Tank would then run in and out of the kennel, forcing Kammie to be his friend. It wasn't long before they were running around the yard together, learning how to be a dog and have fun! This was like night and day for the both of them. Tank eventually got adopted. Kammie decided she was Queen of the house, and welcomed new fosters kind of like a mother figure. She is still shy, specific, and not fond of new people. But she has come a LONG way! She finally will play, and has fun. She doesn't have to watch her every move and live in fear. She is now safe and she knows it. I am in no rush to find Kammie a home, as she is a wonderful house guest. She has taught me a lot in her growth. Patience is key! If the right owner comes along, I will be so grateful for Kammie to find a home where it is all about her!

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THIS DOG: Oprah is the happiest pup, but struggles around other dogs due to her past. Oprah can bark and growl when she wants attention but means no harm. She is reactive when it comes to seeing other dogs and also has a strong prey drive. With patience and guidance she would absolutely thrive. If you are an adopter with no other pets looking for a giant lap dog Oprah is your girl. Oprah is the happiest and most wiggly pup there is!! She is GREAT in her crate, super gentle, snuggly, has fantastic recall with commands like sit, stay, shake, and lay down. She seriously is the sweetest girl who adores every human she meets. Oprah isn't always a fan of other dogs and needs to be in a home with no other pets. She has her whole heart to give and is looking to be someone's soul dog! From her foster: " Oprah is so silly and sweet! She loves treats, belly rubs, a good run in the backyard, and playing with all of the toys. She likes playing by herself and also with her humans. Amazing in her crate and doesn't make a peep when she's in there. She also loves every human she has met and greets them like they are her best friend. She loves going for walks too and is great on the leash for walks and doesn't pull.....until she sees a bunny. We're working on "leave it since we encounter several bunnies in our neighborhood. So far it's still a work in progress From her AWESOME Doggy Day Outing Handle: "meet sweet Oprah! this lovely lady is the happiest dog you ever did see!! she loves meeting new people and gets her little butt wiggles just to show how excited she is! oprah loves being outdoors exploring, and LOVES to watch squirrels. she is also very well behaved inside and curls up on the couch next to you chewing a toy, or sits in the kitchen watching you cook. she loves treats too and can sit and shake! this beautiful girl would bring love and joy into any household and would make you as happy as you make her!" Story
This pup's adoption fee has been partially sponsored by All Aboard or an All Aboard partner! The new adoption fee is reflected on the profile. Waldo is a special boy who needs a home with a fenced in yard (no apartments). Waldo has officially finished his 21 day board and train and is so excited to show off his new tricks to potential adopters. He is a high energy guy who would love a job to keep his brain busy :) He is a great dog! Introducing Waldo, the spirited lab seeking a special someone! Rescued many days ago, Waldo's journey includes overcoming some challenges, including leash reactivity and few quirks that he needs worked with. Rescued and fostered with boundless love, Waldo's journey has seen him getting into a few sticky situations, which only highlight his need for guidance and understanding. However, with the right patient and dedicated owner willing to invest in his training and socialization, Waldo promises to be a loyal companion. His goofy charm, intelligence, and love for people make him a loving companion for the right person. Are you ready to give Waldo the understanding and commitment he deserves? Waldo is a goofy lab mix! He is an amazing learner, but get overstimulated when other dogs are around. He can be a bit hyper but wears down with fetch. He has honestly been doing do great in foster care! However he is very used to a routine and would benefit from more socialization. He has wonderful potential and we believe will be the perfect fit for someone who can recognize his puppy nature and help him work through it. He gets along well with dogs, but seems to mimic their behavior. He does do good with dogs, and I think he would benefit from having a dog friend to play with. Just with the right introduction, he also needs more socialization to be the best boy he can be! Past shelter staff notes: This boy is so sweet! He is very gentle, and was so great at making the other dogs feel comfortable! He loves to get pets, and does really well on leash! He's SO sweet and silly and is an all around happy boy! His silly facial expressions when he plays are sure to win you over! He is a very loyal, adventurous, and smart boy. Treats and toys are the way to his heart, he will do anything for a cookie or stuffed toy. He is very good with routine, and likes to know what is happening next. He really is just a giant puppy that needs to be given a chance! He is house and kennel trained. He knows sit, shake and lay down! ADOPTION FEE: $75 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. This pups adoption fee has been partially sponsored by All Aboard or an All Aboard partner! The new adoption fee is reflected on the profile. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS PUP: Dexter is fearful and shy around humans, he prefers his dog friends over human friends. He has not bonded with humans yet, but would be a perfect dog for an adopter who understand their relationship will be different compared to other pets. Dexter came in very shut down and scared. In his foster home he has made lots and lots of progress. He is small and large dog friendly and cat friendly too! He is shy around humans, and has yet to bond with his fosters, but he is house and kennel trained as well. He will need an involved and patient foster like the one who has him now. He is an AMAZING boy. He needs a home with another dog and a yard as he is still struggling with people, but is amazing with dogs. If you are looking for a dog to be your dog's best friend, Dexter is your guy!! Story
This pup's adoption fee has been partially sponsored by All Aboard or an All Aboard partner! The new adoption fee is reflected on the profile. IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THIS DOG: Clinton is fearful of new people, especially men. He requires a structured meet and greet. He will not click with new people instantly and will need some time. Clinton has big emotions and does not enjoy when his boundaries are pushed. He will require an adopter who is willing to be patient, help with his training, and give him all the love in the world. Clinton is so wonderful! He is sweet, gentle, and so wiggly! He is an absolute lover, and is very eager to please! He is great on leash, and with a little convincing with a treat he'll sit down! This guy would make a wonderful addition to any family! He is going to be a big boy, weighing in at 60 pounds when he was estimated at 7 months old! He even met a cat and did well! From Clinton's Doggy Day Outing Handler: " Clinton is the sweetest goofball! He enjoyed a fun doggy play date today, filled with a long trail walk, a pup cup treat, and some cozy cuddling. Although he takes awhile to warm up to new people, a treat works like magic. Clinton's a silly boy who will keep you entertained endlessly. He's fantastic in the car, hopping right in and settling down. Clinton embodies the best of both worlds - he adores adventures but also loves lounging on the couch with you! We had a blast today. Clinton sometimes needs slower introductions to new men, but if one of his dog friends already knows/likes a new guy friend Clinton warms right up! He is an incredibly sweet boy with the wiggliest butt and a potato body. He is OBSESSED with puppies and is definitely a team favorite. You will not regret meeting this amazing boy! Story
Orchid is a sweet and silly girl who's ready to find her forever home! From her current foster: " Here is an update on Orchid! Things we have noticed Orchid likes is fetch, playing, feeding time, frozen peanut butter Kong toys, and greenies. She really likes soft toys that squeak and tug of war. The things we noticed she doesn't like is if you crate her, and then immediately walk out of the room, she barks and cries. But she is getting better. We have been leaving her in the crate for small amounts and just staying in the room for a while, then leaving, then coming back shortly after. Things she is great at are she sleeps all night in her crate without crying! She walks on the leash great. She respects other dogs boundaries and listens to their social cues. She can sit and lay down with command and hand motion. The things she is still working on are fetch, she will get ball but still working on bringing back. Shake. Jumping up when she first meets a new person. And putting her mouth on you when she is playing. Not biting down hard. But she is improving. She is excellent in her crate for a puppy. Sleeps all night. Only initially cries when you walk out of the room right away. For potty training progress Saturday she had two pee accidents, and then Monday she had one pee accident. No pooping inside. Overall doing very good. She is friendly with other humans. She does tend to jump up when she first meets them where she is excited. She has been good with my dog, Odin. He is 10 years old. She follows his social cues and leaves him alone when he's laying by himself and plays with him when he is acting playful. She also will follow his lead on leash. She saw other dogs in a fenced in yard barking at us, but she didn't bark back or get afraid since he kept on walking. She has not met any cats or children at our house. ADOPTION FEE: $550 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event. Meet Osa! Osa is an almost 3-year-old golden retriever/border collie mix. She loves to be around her pack and her people, once you show her love- she's the most loyal dog you'll ever have. She LOVES the snow, going on adventures in the outdoors, and playing with water! She loves belly rubs, big stretches, and learning new tricks. She is a very well-behaved dog, she is a little nervous about meeting new dogs after a fight with two off-leash dogs last year. She is potty trained, has a great personality, and will show you all the love she holds by giving you lots of kisses and wanting to play with you outside. She enjoys chasing electric cars in open fields- really gets her tired! July 26, 2024, 5:12 pm
