Story
Rowena is a sweet and loving dog! We adopted her from a local rescue shelter when she was six months old. She is now three but still very puppy. She has basic training, is house trained, walks well on a leash, is a great running partner, and a super snuggler. She is good with dogs her size or bigger but has bitten smaller dogs. She would do best as the only animal in the house. She has shown aggressive tendencies towards kiddos on two occasions (snarl, bare teeth) but never done anything physical. She would benefit from older kiddos in a home. She has been a wonderful part of our family and we did not come to this decision lightly. As such, we are searching for an amazing new family that she will thrive in and be loved.

Story
This pups adoption fee has been partially sponsored by All Aboard or an All Aboard partner! The new adoption fee is reflected on the profile. ADOPTION FEE: $75 Kammie is a shy older gal looking for a very special home. Kammie was found as a stray in Texas with her 3 babies. All of Kammie's pups but one did not survive the conditions they were in prior to arriving at the shelter. Poor Kammie had most likely been roaming the streets her whole life, and had more than a few litters of pups throughout her life. Once Kammie arrived to AAAR she was placed with an experienced foster. Because she had had so much trauma, this girl was timid and determined to run to the streets as the only home she knew. When the fosters where gone Kammie had bust through the door, and fence to escape. This was in February of 2020 so the weather was very snowy and frigid. The nights in the single digits, Kammie was determined to find somewhere familiar. Our team was tracking Kammie right away, the whole community got involved. Kammie was a pro at being a stray, and knew exactly how to stay clear of people, and avoided being caught. We spent 9 days tracking, trying to trap her, and talking to professionals. Kammie was in our sight always, which was very frustrating, and caused us sleepless nights. Finally, on 2/7/20 Madison got a call that Kammie was hiding, freezing under someone's deck. This called for a plan that had to be executed very carefully, or Kammie would be on the run once again. Madison and her dad, Shawn showed up with a rabies pole, blankets, and Kammie's puppy to try and show her we meant well. It took 15 people to barricade the deck with blankets, while Shawn crawled under the deck and slipped the lead over Kammie's neck. Once he pulled Kammie out from under the deck, Madison put another lead on her to secure. Everyone took a deep breath, after 9 LONG days and the whole community's involvement, Kammie was finally safeand warm. Madison and Shawn took Kammie to the Animal Hospital of Colorado where she could get checked out. She was a bag of bones, her paw pads bloody raw, and her nose frost bitten. Madison wasn't going to let Kammie out of her reach. From her foster, Madison (rescue director): Fostering Kammie has been baby steps of process, but she has made major improvement over the years! This sweet girl took 3 months to even come out of her kennel by herself. She would hide as far back in her kennel as possible, and had to be dragged out with much effort to come out of her "den". Kammie was always on guard, keeping eyes on you at all times, walking slowly and close to the ground. She was never aggressive, just has never learned how to be a dog. She spent her years wandering the streets of Texas, protecting her babies, and fighting for her life. Kammie started to bond with me over cleaning her ears, brushing, and giving her chicken. This was a slow process and seemed to be one step forward, two steps back for over a year. I would celebrate over little accomplishments like "she wagged her tail briefly when I opened the door!!" She is very specific about where I am standing, looking, and what I am doing. She was quick to run back into her "safe place" - her kennel. One day I brought home a very insecure foster dog named Tank. He was a shy, nervous ball of anxiety and was also unsure of how to be a dog. He was very fearful of other dogs and would scream if they even sniffed him. I noticed Kammie was a little interested in Tank and he didn't seem to look at her in fear. I decided to open Tank's kennel to see if he and Kammie would want to sniff noses. Tank beamed out of his kennel right into Kammie's kennel. Kammie ran into her kennel as well, unsure of what was going on. Tank would then run in and out of the kennel, forcing Kammie to be his friend. It wasn't long before they were running around the yard together, learning how to be a dog and have fun! This was like night and day for the both of them. Tank eventually got adopted. Kammie decided she was Queen of the house, and welcomed new fosters kind of like a mother figure. She is still shy, specific, and not fond of new people. But she has come a LONG way! She finally will play, and has fun. She doesn't have to watch her every move and live in fear. She is now safe and she knows it. I am in no rush to find Kammie a home, as she is a wonderful house guest. She has taught me a lot in her growth. Patience is key! If the right owner comes along, I will be so grateful for Kammie to find a home where it is all about her!

Story
This pup's adoption fee has been partially sponsored by All Aboard or an All Aboard partner! The new adoption fee is reflected on the profile. Waldo is a special boy who needs a home with a fenced in yard (no apartments). Waldo has officially finished his 21 day board and train and is so excited to show off his new tricks to potential adopters. He is a high energy guy who would love a job to keep his brain busy :) He is a great dog! Introducing Waldo, the spirited lab seeking a special someone! Rescued many days ago, Waldo's journey includes overcoming some challenges, including leash reactivity and few quirks that he needs worked with. Rescued and fostered with boundless love, Waldo's journey has seen him getting into a few sticky situations, which only highlight his need for guidance and understanding. However, with the right patient and dedicated owner willing to invest in his training and socialization, Waldo promises to be a loyal companion. His goofy charm, intelligence, and love for people make him a loving companion for the right person. Are you ready to give Waldo the understanding and commitment he deserves? Waldo is a goofy lab mix! He is an amazing learner, but get overstimulated when other dogs are around. He can be a bit hyper but wears down with fetch. He has honestly been doing do great in foster care! However he is very used to a routine and would benefit from more socialization. He has wonderful potential and we believe will be the perfect fit for someone who can recognize his puppy nature and help him work through it. He gets along well with dogs, but seems to mimic their behavior. He does do good with dogs, and I think he would benefit from having a dog friend to play with. Just with the right introduction, he also needs more socialization to be the best boy he can be! Past shelter staff notes: This boy is so sweet! He is very gentle, and was so great at making the other dogs feel comfortable! He loves to get pets, and does really well on leash! He's SO sweet and silly and is an all around happy boy! His silly facial expressions when he plays are sure to win you over! He is a very loyal, adventurous, and smart boy. Treats and toys are the way to his heart, he will do anything for a cookie or stuffed toy. He is very good with routine, and likes to know what is happening next. He really is just a giant puppy that needs to be given a chance! He is house and kennel trained. He knows sit, shake and lay down! ADOPTION FEE: $75 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Story
This pups adoption fee has been partially sponsored by All Aboard or an All Aboard partner! The new adoption fee is reflected on the profile. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS PUP: Dexter is fearful and shy around humans, he prefers his dog friends over human friends. He has not bonded with humans yet, but would be a perfect dog for an adopter who understand their relationship will be different compared to other pets. From Dexter's foster: "Meet Dexter, the sweetest guy you will ever know. This is a dog built to be a great companion to other dogs. He is so patient with pups and loves to play with all the dogs. He ignores cats and chickens, wanting nothing to do with either. He is house broke, kennel trained, and very rarely barks. He doesn't dig in the trash or beg for food. Such a good dog! Dexter has been with his current fosters for 4 years and has some unique needs. His former life must have been really hard for him, as he is still very scared of humans. Loud noises or quick movements will be quite scary for him as well. He is not a great companion for people. He is good with his older foster kids, who respect his boundaries. He will come up and boop your hand with his nose. He will join in with other dogs at greeting humans when they come home. All of this is as long as the human makes no move to touch him. With younger kids or adults who want to show him attention, he will just leave the room. No aggression issues with him at all. The foster family has been able to pet him only occasionally. But he will sit on a couch with a person, so long as they are still. Interested folks should know that he needs a fenced in backyard so that he can go outside without having to be touched. He does not walk on a leash. When human contact is forced (trips to the vet, rare brushings, etc) he can get so scared that he will poop. Dexter is a special case to be sure. It is clear he wants to be loved and cared for by people, he just doesn't know how. Who doesn't want to give this guy with a wounded heart some extra love! Dexter came in very shut down and scared. In his foster home he has made lots and lots of progress. He is small and large dog friendly and cat friendly too! He is shy around humans, and has yet to bond with his fosters, but he is house and kennel trained as well. He will need an involved and patient foster like the one who has him now. He is an AMAZING boy. He needs a home with another dog and a yard as he is still struggling with people, but is amazing with dogs. If you are looking for a dog to be your dog's best friend, Dexter is your guy!! Story
Little Murphy is a tenderhearted pup of a petite mixed breed who appears to have some Golden Retriever and Spaniel characteristics. He has a captivating, sweet face, perky ears, and kind brown eyes. Murphy is currently in a foster home, learning to trust and gain confidence, and is being cared for by a retired couple, a gentle large Labrador Retriever, and a Maincoon cat. Murphy is doing amazingly well adjusting and making small steps each day with his new routine and environment. Murphy finds security in being close to the foster home's dog with outside exercise, indoor quiet time, and mealtime. Each day, Murphy accepts more human affection and trust. He is working on seeking this out on his own but is still unsure. Mr. Murph finds comfort in his crate, a kitchen space with gates, and is now venturing out into other rooms in the house. His crate door is open, and he retreats when he needs to rest or take a break. Murphy has bright spots of joy and playfulness and is silly and goofy, tapping around the kitchen in a happy dancing burst of energy and running around the yard with his ears perky and tail wagging. Murphy gets along with our cat and a neighbor's dog on the other side of the fence. Murph sleeps through the night, is potty trained, is not destructive, and rarely barks. He will need to be on a leash during walks outside a gated yard, as this little pup will bolt. Murphy's favorite food is cooked hamburger, though we are experimenting with different dog foods to see what he might like. We believe he will be a wonderful addition to a loving family who will be gentle and patient. He is drawn to females and seeks security with his foster mom but has made significant gains with his foster dad. Murphy would eventually come to love children once he gains healthy confidence and trust. This sweet pup is a special guy with much potential. Adoption applications are welcomed while Murphy is in his foster home for another week or two, and he will be ready to join a new home very soon. Please ask questions, and we will try to respond quickly. We look forward to setting up visits for Murph to meet a new family willing to give him a second chance at a happy and loving pup life.
