Story
My wife rescued Carmen several years ago. She has been a loyal dog and part of this family. For the past year, our youngest dog has been attempting to become alpha picking on Carmen and starting fights. We have a third dog which has lived we Carmen for the past 6 years and continues to have no issues. The issues between the youngest and Carmen have become unmanageable, stemming from the young ones behavior. The reason we have not moved to rehome sooner is because we do love Carmen, she is sweet to our friends and kids, and we really want her to have the right owner. Her passion is to be outside; she loves it. She is very smart. If you have space to open your heart, home, and backyard, then our family would be grateful; Carmen deserves a loving space.

Story
This is Marvelous Miss Mazie! Mazie is a 3-4 year old Lab mix. We originally adopted her in August of 2023 from the SPCA. Prior to being brought to the shelter Mazie was one of several dogs found in an abandoned house after her owners left her when they were evicted. She was very skinny and covered in fleas. Due to her condition she had severe flea dermatitis and was missing fur on her lower half. Since we have had her her dermatitis has healed up completely and she has been doing great! Mazie does however have Lyme disease, but she was given the proper rounds of medication and will not need any further treatment, she will live a happy life like any other lab! Mazie is very sweet and loving, she loves to play with soft toys and she is a great cuddle bug! She would love to curl up with you on the couch or in bed and snuggle up a storm. Mazie is very friendly with other people and kids, however she does take time to warm up around other dogs and she is NOT good with cats.

Story
Jax has been with me since he was 10 weeks old. He is now 10 months. He is Mr. Personality. Very intelligent and energetic. He knows some commands, needs training on leash walking. Gets along with my 12 lb. Chihuahua. Shy when meeting new people and dogs. With treats, you can accomplish anything with Jax. I live in an apartment and work 4 to 5 days a week, 12 hour shifts. His humans would have to have more time to spend with him. An energetic person with a yard and willing to train with him would be best. He needs to have his brain stimulated and plenty of exercise. And he loves to go on adventures.

Story
I am looking to rehome my, male, 7 year old Pitball/Lab. Winston is a great dog, unfortunately, we dont have the time to give him the attention he deserves. Winston is fixed and chipped. He is house trained but will go to the bathroom in the house if not taken out as needed. He is a large dog at 110lbs. Winston is good with kids and MOST people. Winston does have issues with some males, I do not know why or how he chooses which guys he doesn't like but you will know when they walk in and his hair sticks up. He will follow them around and possibly attempt to bite them. He walks fairly well on a leash, he is a large dog so if he tries to pull, it will take some strength to stop him but he loves to go for walks. He believes he is a lap dog and loves to sit on the couch watching tv with us. He also likes sleeping in the bed if you let him but is fine sleeping on the floor on his dog bed also.

Story
Hi, I'm Cheyenne! I came to the shelter as a stray and I must admit I'm pretty nervous and confused. I tend to gravitate more towards women than men, but I can be friends with guys with some patience and TLC. I am a big girl with a lot of love to share, and I will just need time to decompress and then my personality will shine. I am open to living with other animals given proper introduction. Since I am somewhat fearful and sensitive, any kids in the home should be 8 and older. I am looking for my furever family who will cherish me and give me the quality life I so deserve. Could it be yours? ---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Leeda is a sweet sweet soul.  She absolutely LOVES the outside!!!  She is content to wander around the fields all day long!  She would be perfect for someone who has a large fenced yard where she can roam to her hearts content.  She loves people!RequirementsLarge Fenced YardVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!March 14, 2024, 1:12 am
