He has a heart of gold and a wagging tail that never stops, especially when he's around his human companions.Unfortunately, Acorn is not a fan of dogs and has a difficult time around other dogs, which means he will need to be the only pet in his new home. He loves to be around his human friends and is always eager for attention, affection, and belly rubs. He is a happy and playful dog who has a lot of energy and loves to go for walks, play in the park, or just hang out on the couch with his favorite people.Acorn is already potty trained and knows some basic commands, which makes him a smart and trainable dog. He is a fast learner and is always eager to please his human companions.Overall, Acorn is a lovable dog who will make a great companion for anyone who is looking for a loyal and affectionate pet. While he may not be the best fit for a home with other pets, he is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a fun-loving dog to share their life with. Story
Zion has been with PAWS for 331 days. He was adopted as a puppy and returned three years later as a fearful and skittish adult who had learned that he could get himself out of a stressful situation by using his teeth. Since being at the shelter, Zion's confidence in other people has grown tremendously, and his circle of friends increases weekly; he has never felt the need to communicate by nipping, and we are so proud of him. This week Zion is having a much needed break with one of his trusted friends and he is making the most of every minute. Zion is house trained, gets along well with almost every dog he meets, can be left in a room unsupervised, and he can catch a frisbee like a pro (see video). Zion is a very pretty little dog who runs around like a show pony doing dressage; effortlessly elegant yet totally goofy at the same time. Zion is SO ready for another shot at being someone's beloved pet. He needs a home with people who understand that he needs time to feel safe- older kids or no kids- and maybe another dog to play with. He will surprise and amuse you on a daily basis, and steal your heart (and your chair) with his uniquely charming ways.

Story
Chula is a pretty little lab mix who loves eating and swimming, as all self-respecting labs do. She will need an active lifestyle and a good sized yard to use up that energy. Chula tested positive for heartworms and is eligible for the "slow kill method", meaning she won't have to endure months of confinement and painful injections. Chula has had many great interactions with other dogs here, and has a friend to wrestle with, but due to an altercation with a dog in her previous home we think it best that she be the only dog in the family. Chula gets to spend time in the office and loves to be the center of attention.

Story
Gatsby definitely lives up to his name and loves to be the life of the party! Gatsby has soulful eyes and a loving smile. He is an active boy that knows how to chill when it's time to nap. He loves all toys, especially rope toys and is a self-proclaimed fetch champion. He's also incredibly smart and knows sit and shake. He was staying in a home for the past two years, but had to come back to us due to no fault of his own. In his home they stated that he was house trained and crate trained. He prefers his time with adults or older children, but can be a bit too rambunctious around young kids. He enjoys the company of dogs that are smaller than him, but can get overwhelmed with larger dogs. He has a couple of dog friends in shelter and could go home to a well matched dog buddy.

Story
Frankie is a handsome young man with the energy and enthusiasm to be man's best friend. We pulled him from a municipal shelter when he was just ten or so months old, and he has been in several homes since that time, both as a foster dog and an adopted dog. Frankie has so much going for him. He's wicked smart and loves to learn tricks and show them off, and he already knows "sit, "down, "spin, "wait and "shake. He is extraordinarily food/treat motivated, and this can be used to the human's advantage and to keep Frankie's excitement in check. In his most recent foster home Frankie has shown himself to be house trained and well mannered, and had a blast socializing with the resident dogs and doing doughnuts in the kiddie pool. Frankie has had dozens of dog friends at the shelter, from 10lbs Chihuahua mixes to 90lbs Boxers. He is a sensitive and respectful play partner, and one we often pick for our shyer dogs as he will very gently coax them out of their shells until they enjoy their yard time as much as he does. Whilst he's an active boy and loves his play time, he has done well with dogs, livestock, he's also a terrific cuddler, chin-kisser and nap-taker. He needs an adopter who can enforce strong boundaries since Frankie is sure to push them, just like the kid in class who misbehaves because the work isn't challenging enough. Making him work for his food is the key to success with Frankie- puzzle feeders, stuffed kongs and the like, will keep his brain busy and set him up for success. A perfect home for this beautiful boy will be active, dog savvy, ideally with a large kiddie pool and another dog to play with. Resource guarding of food has been an issue in the past, and something potential families will need to consider and be prepared to work on. In his most recent week-long shelter break the foster didn't see any evidence of resource guarding, and in fact, he would only eat his food when she was close to him. Frankie is full of surprises.

Story
Smooch is a professional cuddle bug, accomplished dimple model, and a licensed sweetheart. Smooch was surrendered to the shelter when her human had to go to a retirement home. She has been waiting patiently for many months for a new family to come bring her to her forever home. Smooch is famous at the shelter for being easy to walk, potty trained, quiet, and a good hugger. Smooch sometimes gets scared and barks when someone stands too close to her kennel door, and she keeps getting overlooked because of it. If you come to meet her, please be patient because this pretty girl is a once-in-a-lifetime dog that anyone would be lucky to adopt!
