Story
Meet Twilight, a striking medium-to-long-haired tuxedo kitten with a soft, fluffy coat and bright, curious eyes. With his classic black-and-white markings and charming personality, Twilight is as handsome as he is lovable. He’s full of playful energy, always ready to chase a wand toy or wrestle with a stuffed mouse, but when playtime winds down, he’s more than happy to curl up next to you for some quiet snuggles.
Twilight enjoys spending time with his brother Cosmos, especially when they’re chasing each other around the room or cuddling up for a nap. While they don’t need to be adopted together, Twilight does need to go to a home with another young cat or kitten to keep him company and help him continue to grow into a confident, happy cat. With his mix of playfulness, sweetness, and dashing good looks, Twilight is ready to light up your home.
Twilight is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, he is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!
Foster-to-Adopt Program Details
We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization
We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted.
Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption.
Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed.
Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.
Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.
Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $135.
Our Adoption Process:
Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative.
Complete Application. https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/
Phone Interview/Vet Check. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable.
Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space.
Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.
