Story
Meet Cherokee, our adorable 5 year old Maine Coon mix! She's an independent and low maintenance kitty who loves sunbathing on our balcony, soaking up the warmth. Cherokee enjoys climbing her cat tree to the highest perch to relax and watch the world go by. She's a playful girl and loves hanging out with her best friend Nova, a sweet dog. Cherokee is very vocal when it's time to eat and can be a bit shy, but she still loves her toys and will play when the mood strikes. Sadly, due to our busy work schedules, we're looking for a new forever home for her. We would love to find a home for both her and Nova together, but we understand if that's not possible. Cherokee will make a loving and charming companion for the right family!

Story
On September 4th the skies were pouring when I got the call about kittens in Azle who needed help urgently. My cat partner in crime and I pulled on our rain gear and carriers in hopes of rescuing these little ones, but we were doubtful of our success in such a storm. The woman we met there had been feeding a rag tag group of ferals and strays in her neighborhood for a while and on that day thought she caught a glimpse of 2 fluff ball tabby babies. We began our search and quickly found 2 rain-drenched kittens hovering in a water trough that had formed from the rain running off the roof. Upon our approach, they hissed and ran under a bush. We set a trap partially protected with umbrellas and loaded with stinky wet food and prayed. It was our only shot. Luckily, it worked and 15 minutes later they were captured. They were wild as the breeze and not at all happy to be contained but they were safe and soon riding home in the warm car. At home I was finally able to touch these fierce darlings. They were muddy, matted, soaked through and so skinny. They got a flea bath, naturally protesting the whole time, and the bath water ran red from all the flea bites. But the worst was yet to be revealed—their eyes were swollen, matted, and completely shut from infection, leaving them essentially blind. Their noses were crusty with drainage and it’s a miracle they could smell the food that lead them to the trap. The next few weeks were rough going with frequent vet trips, lots of eye drops, sub-q fluids, breathing treatments and antibiotics. They were afraid of me, and I was afraid I would lose them to this illness. They fought every attempt at treatment-- scratching, biting, and hissing. Then slowly, gradually I noticed some changes in their behavior and one wonderful day they did not bolt away from me when I approached their kennel. It was the first time I had hope that I wouldn’t lose them and the first time they realized I wasn’t so scary after all. They were starting to eagerly eat and would perk up their ears when they heard my voice. I am so proud of them for fighting and being so brave. I named the girl Robin and her brother is named Cline. Born August 1, 2024 Today they are regular kittens in almost every way. They are curious, funny, playful and loving but they are permanently visually impaired. The scarring on their eyes is very apparent. The vet feels they do have some sight but it will never been clear. It’s true that eyes are the window to the soul and I’m hoping someone will look into those eyes and see the beautiful souls behind the scars. These loves have overcome incredible odds, not the least of which was learning to love and trust. As I write they are curled up on the bed beside me and my dogs in sweet slumber. Robin was the smaller of the two at first and probably the most fierce because her eye infection was the worst. Today, she is large and in charge! She feels like an armful of fluid fluffiness when you scoop her up. She is show-stopper gorgeous and she knows it. She is good with dogs, other cats, and children who are familiar with cats. Story
Purry Mason is a curious little kitten with the cutest, most inquisitive face and a zest for playtime and exploration. This fluffy boy started his life out on the mean streets and was found and brought inside by his foster family as a teeny two week old baby. They quickly discovered how much Purry loves to eat, and with lots of TLC, he graduated from bottle feeding to eating kitten food on his own and he hasn't stopped thriving since!Purry's hobbies include climbing, romping, jumping, chasing toys, meeting new friends, and being professionally adorable. While he's not on track to pass the bar exam like his namesake, this kitten is one smart cookie and we think he could win over the toughest judges around. Purry Mason will be happiest in a home with another cat friend to play with, whether that's another kitten pal or a resident cat who can show him the ropes!  We don't DNA test our kittens. Most cats and kittens in the US are a mix of breeds and we suspect the same is true for Purry Mason. He looks like he might be Maine coon mix (or other longhair mix). Either way, we know he's 100% cute!  Purry is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, he is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!  Foster-to-Adopt Program Details We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted. Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption. Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed. Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.  Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.  Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $125.    RHS Adoption Process and Requirements Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations and on a flea/heartworm preventative. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit by an RHS representative. Phone Interview. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. Home Visit.  If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will coordinate a virtual home visit. We’ll request you send videos/pictures of your home to verify it is safe and welcoming for the cat. Meet and Greet. Once your home visit is complete, we can coordinate a time with you and the foster parent/s to meet the kitty you’re interested in.  Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $125 for cats, and payable by Paypal, Venmo, cash, or check. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##2121380##

Story
We are brother and sister and bonded immediately after being born. Our foster parents found us in the garage when we were a few weeks old and brought us in. Don't worry about being able to tell us apart, we have different characteristics with our looks and personalities. The boy is called ears because he has big Batman ears, and the girl has a rounder face with a white patch on her chest. We are extremely loving, cuddly, and playful. We are used to a regular litter box and robo littler box. We have been around adult cats, kids, and dogs. We eat Purina one salmon flavor for sensitive stomachs, and have recently found a new love for cat nip. Our foster parents would keep us in a heartbeat if they could, but they are renting and are already at the animal limit. We want to go together because we are super close and love each other.

Oscar is a mild mannered gray tabby with black, too. He is the largest of his litter. Oscar is quiet but enjoys playing with his 5 siblings. I think Oscar would do well in a home with other cats and/or children.
