Story
Please note, we will be unable to respond to inquiries via Adopt-a-pet and Petfinder. All applications must be submitted on our website.  Meet Smooch, the fluffy little heart-stealer with a name that says it all! With her luxurious long fur and adorable extra toes—25 in total!—Smooch is as unique as she is lovable. Her polydactyl paws look like tiny mittens, and she uses them with surprising grace and charm, whether she’s batting at toys or reaching out for a cuddle. Smooch is sweet, social, and full of affection. She loves giving gentle headbutts, curling up in laps, and snuggling close with her siblings or humans alike. Her calm, loving nature makes her the perfect companion for quiet evenings and cozy naps, though she’s always up for a bit of play when the moment strikes. Smooch would thrive in a home with another young cat or kitten to keep her company—ideally one of her Valentine’s Day siblings she’s grown up with. If you’re looking for a kitten who’s equal parts unique and irresistible, Smooch is ready to leave her paw prints all over your heart. Smooch is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, he is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!  We don’t DNA test our kittens, but we think Smooch looks like she could be a Maine coon-type mix. She's likely a domestic lnog hair mix, but "Maine coon" has become synonymous with long haired cats. Most cats in the US are made up of a variety of different breeds, and we think Smooch falls into that category as well. Either way, we know she’s 100% cute!  Foster-to-Adopt Program Details We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted. Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption. Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed. Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.  Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.  Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $135.  Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative. Complete Application.  https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Phone Interview/Vet Check. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##2352648##

Story
Meet Twilight, a striking medium-to-long-haired tuxedo kitten with a soft, fluffy coat and bright, curious eyes. With his classic black-and-white markings and charming personality, Twilight is as handsome as he is lovable. He’s full of playful energy, always ready to chase a wand toy or wrestle with a stuffed mouse, but when playtime winds down, he’s more than happy to curl up next to you for some quiet snuggles. Twilight enjoys spending time with his brother Cosmos, especially when they’re chasing each other around the room or cuddling up for a nap. While they don’t need to be adopted together, Twilight does need to go to a home with another young cat or kitten to keep him company and help him continue to grow into a confident, happy cat. With his mix of playfulness, sweetness, and dashing good looks, Twilight is ready to light up your home. We don’t DNA test our kittens, but we think Twilight looks like he could be a Maine coon-type mix. He's likely a domestic lnog hair mix, but "Maine coon" has become synonymous with long haired cats. Story
Please note, we will be unable to respond to inquiries via Adopt-a-pet and Petfinder. All applications must be submitted on our website.  Meet Aphrodite, a stunning little kitten with a name as bold and beautiful as her personality. Born on Valentine’s Day, she carries all the sweetness of the holiday—but with a confident, adventurous twist. Aphrodite is brave, curious, and always the first to explore a new toy or investigate a new corner of the room. Her fearless nature makes her a natural leader among her siblings, and her playful energy is downright contagious. While she loves a good romp and chase, Aphrodite is also incredibly affectionate. Once she’s had her fun, she’s quick to curl up beside you, purring contentedly and soaking up all the love you’ll give. She strikes the perfect balance between spunky and snuggly, making her a joy to be around no matter the mood. Aphrodite would do great in a home with another young cat or kitten to keep up with her playful spirit—she’d especially love to be adopted with one of her siblings from the Valentine’s Day crew. If you’re looking for a kitten who’s full of heart, confidence, and cuddles, Aphrodite is ready to be your fearless little Valentine. Aphrodite is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. Story
Please note, we will be unable to respond to inquiries via Adopt-a-pet and Petfinder. All applications must be submitted on our website.  Meet Venus, a long-haired torbie beauty with a personality as vibrant as her stunning coat. As part of the Valentine’s Day litter, Venus is a perfect mix of love and liveliness. Her silky fur swirls with rich shades of brown, orange, and cream, and her bright eyes are always full of curiosity and play. She’s sweet, snuggly, and full of spirit—a kitten who brings both charm and energy to every moment. Venus loves to play and explore, often leading her siblings on little adventures around the room. She’s clever, confident, and always up for a game of chase or a pounce on a dangling toy. But when the fun winds down, she’s quick to climb into your lap, nuzzle into your arms, and purr herself to sleep. Venus would do best in a home with another playful young cat or kitten to keep her company—she’d be thrilled to be adopted with one of her siblings from the same litter. Story
All of our cats are current on vaccines, combo tested (FIV/FELV) , spayed/neutered, microchipped, given rabies vaccine as age appropriate, flea treatment and dewormer as needed   Meet Harrison! Harrison is a 7-year old cuddle bug. He loves to have his belly pet, and is especially good at making air biscuits.  If you are looking for the best nap partner ever, you’ve found him! Harrison likes a peaceful, quiet atmosphere where he and his human can relax together. He will reward you with the biggest purrs.  Harrison would make a great companion for an older adult with a less busy lifestyle.  Harrison lived a wonderful life with his owner and other cats.  They were cherished by the owner, who sadly passed away and now we are re-homing her cats.
