Story
Bitty is the sweetest cat. We adopted her from PetSmart when she was a kitten around 6 or 7 years ago. She is the friendliest and kindest cat I have ever met with both children and adults. Unfortunately Bitty was born with IBS which we have tried to manage and put up with this whole time because she is so sweet. Unfortunately, due to our busy schedules and we now have a little one in the house who is going to start crawling soon... we can no longer have Bitty here. She is an extremely petite cat that weighs an average of only 6.2lbs. We've taken her to the vets to continue to try and fix her condition and her bloodwork comes back normal. She has a huge appetite and drinks lots of water. The only issue is, she poops outside her litter box with inconsistent stools about 50% of the time. (Just poop, she always pees in her box) We want to make sure she finds the right home as she is the sweetest and we really love her which is why the adoption fee is $0.

Story
Trouble is one year old. Trouble always uses the litter box to do his business. Trouble loves to be talked to and be pet with your hands only. Unfortunately while he is a loving boy, he does not like to be brushed or groomed. It is very frustrating to pet his Angora soft coat and not be able to brush out any knots. He is very curious and doesn't mind our dog but again with my drooling dog and his fur can because knotty easily.

Story
Mars is a stunning black long-haired gentleman who was nearly abandoned when his owner refused to pay pet rent. But Mars isn’t meant for the streets—he’s meant for a loving home where he can be cherished the way he deserves! This sweet and incredibly friendly boy has never met a stranger. He’s curious about everything and loves to explore his surroundings, making every day an adventure. While he does co-exsist with dogs and female cats, Mars would prefer to be an only child and get all the attention. He would thrive in a family with teenagers or adults only, as he can be a little unpredictable around small kids. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and social feline companion who will always be by your side, Mars is ready to be your best friend. Will you be the one to give him the forever home he’s been waiting for?

Story
Jax is a 4 year old who loves to lay in the sun, play with toys, cuddle when he wants to which is once a day and best alone without children or other animals. He is shy at first but the sweetest boy who deserves a home with an experienced cat owner who gives him his alone time and love when he needs it. He is funny and silly. When you come home after work he will run to you and rub against your legs, lick your hand or face then run back to his sunny spot. He was found in a garage in Granbury, TX and adopted from a foster shelter June 2021. I hope to find him a new home that will be more present, calm and safe :)

Please note, we will be unable to respond to inquiries via Adopt-a-pet and Petfinder. All applications must be submitted on our website.  Please keep an eye on your spam folder. Emailed responses often end up in spam folders!  Meet Twilight, a striking medium-to-long-haired tuxedo kitten with a soft, fluffy coat and bright, curious eyes. With his classic black-and-white markings and charming personality, Twilight is as handsome as he is lovable. He’s full of playful energy, always ready to chase a wand toy or wrestle with a stuffed mouse, but when playtime winds down, he’s more than happy to curl up next to you for some quiet snuggles. Twilight enjoys spending time with his brother Cosmos, especially when they’re chasing each other around the room or cuddling up for a nap. While they don’t need to be adopted together, Twilight does need to go to a home with another young cat or kitten to keep him company and help him continue to grow into a confident, happy cat. With his mix of playfulness, sweetness, and dashing good looks, Twilight is ready to light up your home. We don’t DNA test our kittens, but we think Twilight looks like he could be a Maine coon-type mix. He's likely a domestic lnog hair mix, but "Maine coon" has become synonymous with long haired cats. Most cats in the US are made up of a variety of different breeds, and we think Twilight falls into that category as well. Either way, we know he’s 100% cute! Twilight is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, he is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!  Foster-to-Adopt Program Details We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted. Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption. Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed. Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.  Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.  Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $135.  Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative. Complete Application.  https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Phone Interview/Vet Check. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##2353608##
