Story
Mars is a stunning black long-haired gentleman who was nearly abandoned when his owner refused to pay pet rent. But Mars isn’t meant for the streets—he’s meant for a loving home where he can be cherished the way he deserves! This sweet and incredibly friendly boy has never met a stranger. He’s curious about everything and loves to explore his surroundings, making every day an adventure. While he does co-exsist with dogs and female cats, Mars would prefer to be an only child and get all the attention. He would thrive in a family with teenagers or adults only, as he can be a little unpredictable around small kids. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and social feline companion who will always be by your side, Mars is ready to be your best friend. Will you be the one to give him the forever home he’s been waiting for?

Story
Rose is a Pure Bred Maine coon that was retired from her breeder.  She is 3 years old and such a joy to snuggle and play with.  She has lots of energy and plays like a kitten.  She will sleep on the bed with you and lay beside you like your best buddy!  She has never seen a dog a day in her life and would probably do best as an only cat. She is spayed, combo tested, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and received a 30 day flea treament.   Apply to adopt at maricats.com.May 18, 2025, 1:53 am

Please note, we will be unable to respond to inquiries via Adopt-a-pet and Petfinder. All applications must be submitted on our website.  Please keep an eye on your spam folder. Emailed responses often end up in spam folders!  Meet Twilight, a striking medium-to-long-haired tuxedo kitten with a soft, fluffy coat and bright, curious eyes. With his classic black-and-white markings and charming personality, Twilight is as handsome as he is lovable. He’s full of playful energy, always ready to chase a wand toy or wrestle with a stuffed mouse, but when playtime winds down, he’s more than happy to curl up next to you for some quiet snuggles. Twilight enjoys spending time with his brother Cosmos, especially when they’re chasing each other around the room or cuddling up for a nap. While they don’t need to be adopted together, Twilight does need to go to a home with another young cat or kitten to keep him company and help him continue to grow into a confident, happy cat. With his mix of playfulness, sweetness, and dashing good looks, Twilight is ready to light up your home. We don’t DNA test our kittens, but we think Twilight looks like he could be a Maine coon-type mix. He's likely a domestic lnog hair mix, but "Maine coon" has become synonymous with long haired cats. Most cats in the US are made up of a variety of different breeds, and we think Twilight falls into that category as well. Either way, we know he’s 100% cute! Twilight is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, he is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!  Foster-to-Adopt Program Details We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted. Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption. Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed. Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.  Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.  Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $135.  Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative. Complete Application.  https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Phone Interview/Vet Check. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##2353608##

Emailed responses often end up in spam folders!  Meet Venus, a long-haired torbie beauty with a personality as vibrant as her stunning coat. As part of the Valentine’s Day litter, Venus is a perfect mix of love and liveliness. Her silky fur swirls with rich shades of brown, orange, and cream, and her bright eyes are always full of curiosity and play. She’s sweet, snuggly, and full of spirit—a kitten who brings both charm and energy to every moment. Venus loves to play and explore, often leading her siblings on little adventures around the room. She’s clever, confident, and always up for a game of chase or a pounce on a dangling toy. But when the fun winds down, she’s quick to climb into your lap, nuzzle into your arms, and purr herself to sleep. Venus would do best in a home with another playful young cat or kitten to keep her company—she’d be thrilled to be adopted with one of her siblings from the same litter. If you’re looking for a kitten who brings together bold beauty, affection, and fun, Venus is ready to make your heart her home. All of our cats are current on vaccines, combo tested (FIV/FELV) , spayed/neutered, microchipped, given rabies vaccine as age appropriate, flea treatment and dewormer as needed   Meet Harrison! Harrison is a 7-year old cuddle bug. He loves to have his belly pet, and is especially good at making air biscuits.  If you are looking for the best nap partner ever, you’ve found him! Harrison likes a peaceful, quiet atmosphere where he and his human can relax together. He will reward you with the biggest purrs.  Harrison would make a great companion for an older adult with a less busy lifestyle.  Harrison lived a wonderful life with his owner and other cats.  They were cherished by the owner, who sadly passed away and now we are re-homing her cats. Leo is a very sweet cat. He loves pets and tummy scratches. He can be very affectionate. He's usually a very calm cat but sometimes in the evenings he gets the zoomies. He doesn't really like being picked up, but if he knows you he'll crawl on your chest and want pets. He LOVES food. He also has a cat-partner named Einstein that we would like to keep together if possible. They've been house-mates for 7 Years. We recently had our first child and just do not have the space or time to give the cats the attention they need and deserve. They are also having trouble adjusting to a very energetic 1 year old.

Story
Einstein is 8 years old. He can be a very affectionate cat but he can also have attitude. It takes him a while to get use to new people, and it has to be on his terms. But once you've won him over he loves to cuddle. He was declawed when he was younger. He does have a tendency to nip at you if he thinks you're cornering or pestering him. He can be vocal at times and will talk back to you if he wants attention from you. He loves being brushed, though it can be a little overstimulating for him. He has a partner cat LEO, who we would love to keep together with him. They've been pals and house-mates for 7 years. We recently had our first child and just do not have the space or time to give the cats the attention they need and deserve. They are also having trouble adjusting to a very energetic 1 year old.
