Story
Our sweet and beautiful Freya couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she may try. Freya is a ten month old Maltese Terrier / Poodle mix (Maltipoo) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Maltipoos have grown in popularity tremendously over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their excellent temperaments, intelligence, cottony-soft non-shedding coats and easygoing personalities. Farfel's makes an effort to rescue as many at-risk Maltipoos as possible with confidence they will be sweet and loving family members. Freya has all these wonderful traits and is described by her Texas foster as pretty close to PERFECT! Freya has had a challenging period of time but is now safe and sound never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all, sweet Freya doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Freya is just a young girl, she's a blank slate open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement / force-free trainer would truly serve both Freya and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills for Freya to become a companion that is well-behaved (she's pretty close right now!) in almost all situation. It also creates strong bonds of love and respect between dog and family. Freya, while initially a bit shy due to all the changes in her life, tends to be a happy-go-lucky girl who loves life and responds very well to love and time spent together (hugs and lap time are absolutely awesome), and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Freya gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people's lap for belly rubs and loving words. Freya loves to come along (and is very portable at just 11 lbs) for a fun trail or neighborhood walk, car rides to dog-friendly locations or just socializing at home, Freya would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance enough to fit in just about anywhere. We envision Freya either as an only-dog in a dog-crazy family or sharing her home with a gentle, playful doggie-friend. Freya loves her fun with other dogs but would also do well as a single pup if her family was attentive to her needs for play and snuggle time. Freya wouldn't be happy spending the long hours alone while her people work full-time outside of the home. She is far too people-oriented to be happy with that arrangement. Retirees or a younger family that works from a home-based office would be perfect for Freya. She would love the periodic belly rubs, walks and consistency of these relationships. Being a young dog, she'll also learn that she'll always be loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy, confident and well-bonded dog. Freya has a gorgeous, non-shedding scruffy coat that's currently shelter-sad. She will require a lifelong commitment (approximately every 8 - 10 weeks) to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition, A five star food and a daily salmon oil supplement will bring Our sweet and beautiful Freya couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she may try. Freya is a ten month old Maltese Terrier / Poodle mix (Maltipoo) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Freya will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 4/20/2024. If interested in this very sweet and loving family dog, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Freya, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.'s hair back to the cottony-soft and shining coat that is consistent with her breed mix.

Story
Laverne is a lovable, 10 year old, female, Maltese. She joined MHCR as a transfer from another CO shelter where she came in as part of a large surrender. Laverne is house trained, good with respectful children, and has really taken to her foster dad. His chest is her favorite to snuggle on. Laverne is dog friendly and while she doesn’t love her crate she will tolerate it. She’d likely do best on a quiet home with another dog or two and a secure yard. Laverne is in foster in Loveland, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/laverne/. Story
My goodness her little white goatee just speaks to my soul. Shirley is an 8 year old Maltese mix. She joined MHCR with, you guessed it, Laverne! They came from a local CO shelter after being surrendered in a large group of dogs. The shelter life was a bit stressful for them, so we scooped em up and over to MHCR they came. Shirley is a sensitive sweetheart. She’s a little timid and takes a bit to warm up. For this reason, we suspect she will do well in a quieter household with other dog friends to keep her company. She’s house trained and crate trained and doesn’t get into things free roam. Shirley is seeking a home with a securely fenced in yard and not a lot of hustle and bustle, but PLENTY of snuggles. Shirley is in foster in Loveland, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/shirley/.
