Teddy was surrendered when his owners realized they had too many dogs to care for properly. Teddy is a 1 1/2-year-old maltipoo and weighs 17.2 lbs. He is extremely friendly and walks well on leash. He seems to be housebroken and lived with other dogs, both big and small. He has not been around cats but can be cat tested. The owner mentioned he loves children and we believe this to be true due to his super friendly personality. Teddy does seem anxious in the kennel, so a family that is home more often than not is preferred. We have noticed salivary stains on all four paws and his face which could indicate an allergy. He is being treated but may need follow up care from your vet going forward. This little guy should also have regular grooming to keep that maltese/poodly hair looking its best. Pop Quiz ❓ 🤔 Your child “falls” on your dog. The dog is limping and not bearing weight on his back leg, now growling and snapping when touched or approached by the child and when anyone tries to touch his back end, and clearly freaked out and in a lot of pain. Do you A: Bring the dog to the vet immediately for pain medication and x-rays? B: Wait and let him limp around a few days. Then call an extremely full local county shelter with over 100 dogs to immediately surrender him since he’s suddenly become aggressive and the child is now scared to approach him, You probably got the answer wrong. It’s clearly B. A no-brainer of course 🤷‍♀️. Don’t feel bad, we would have answered wrong too 🤣 Well little Poochie was surrendered to us and shockingly we brought him right to the vet. He was even more terrified, an already unsocialized little guy now in severe pain having to be handled by strangers. His x-rays revealed a completely dislocated hip that requires surgery to repair and get him comfortable again. He’s just a baby, purchased from a pet store as a puppy as a “designer” Malshi (Maltese/Shih tzu), 14lbs and just over a year old. He’s very scared and distrustful right now but we are hoping once he is out of pain and gets his bearings in a new place he will learn to trust and be a sweet little guy once again, at least with those he trusts. He’s had his FHO surgery and is recovering nicely and starting to use his leg a little more every day. He’s warmed up to us and is a lovable spunky puppy with those he trusts, but needs time to warm up to strangers. For adoption Northern NJ: Looking for a Velcro dog? Hula is your girl! Can’t find her? Look down, she’s probably right there at your feet. Either weaving between your feet, or sitting there staring up at you adoringly with her big brown eyes, or standing on her hind legs trying to get your attention with a dance. This sweetheart is about 2 years old and already had at least one litter of pups. She was found running in the street, and when a neighbor brought her home, the owner didn’t want her back. So she’s on to bigger better things and looking for a responsible home where she’s actually wanted. She’s said to be a maltipoo, is about 10lbs and seems to have a nonshedding coat that needs to be groomed regularly. She’s ok with most dogs but definitely more of a people person. She doesn’t believe in crates and even used her long spider legs to open the door to let herself out of one somehow. She was used to wee wee pads previously but will go outside if taken out as well. But expect some accidents especially if left alone. She prefers a home with someone home more often than not, and definitely wants to sleep in bed and climb on your couches so if you don’t like dogs on the furniture and right in your face she’s not for you.
