Story
Meet Ozzie. In mid-November, this incredibly sweet little dog found himself in a dire situation. He wasn’t feeling well, so his family took him to the vet. Shockingly, their recommended solution was to put Ozzie to sleep. Thankfully, the vet couldn’t bring himself to go through with it. Instead, he asked Ozzie’s family to release him into his care, and they agreed. He immediately called Critter Cavalry, and Ozzie’s story took a hopeful turn.   After a second thorough exam and x-rays, it was determined that nothing was seriously wrong with Ozzie. He only seemed to have some mild back pain, which resolved after a short course of medication. The moment Miss Dawn arrived home and Ozzie heard the other dogs, his spirits lifted. He happily bounded out of the car, and in no time, he was running around the backyard with his new friends.   Ozzie is a very sweet little man who is 7 years old and 9 lbs.  He is very friendly.  Ozzie gets along great with other dogs.  He does not meet a 4 legged stranger.  He also loves people.  Ozzie would do best in an all-adult home with another small dog to play with.  He is happy boy who just brings a smile to your face.  Don’t you want a similar smile on your face!!     To be considered for Ozzie’s forever family and to request an adoption application please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Ozzie is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)December 11, 2025, 7:13 pm

Story
Meet Skippy; a 9.5yr old Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie) mix who will be 10 in January. He reminds his foster family of a sour patch kid; sweet one minute, sour the next. It all depends on what mood Skippy is in & how tired he may be. He absolutely loves his foster momma, but is hesitant of his foster dad. He will allow his foster dad to play ball or throw toys, but hasn’t allowed him to handle him or even pet him. Skippy is good at letting you know if he is okay with things by either allowing it, or, growling, baring teeth or trying to nip. He definitely has a Napoleon complex, aka little dog syndrome, & likes to try to rule the roost. He isn’t allowed to lay on his foster momma’s lap, but instead has his own dog bed he can lay in further down the couch.  Overnight, or when his fosters aren’t home, Skippy is crated. He does very well in the crate & doesn’t make a peep unless he hears something that alarms him. He isn’t allowed to sleep in bed with his foster family due to his potential to bite when moved. To keep Skippy’s bad habits in check, he gets crated.  Skippy is fully potty trained & hasn’t had any accidents! He is leash trained & walks well with a harness. On walks he may act a fool if he sees another dog, but it’s only his false “big man” bravado that comes out, otherwise does his business & walks well.  Skippy is being fostered with other pups, but has only really showed a liking to a couple; small breed, older, submissive, not wanting the spotlight females. He has played outdoors with two of the small breed males, but tends to puff his chest out & act the toughest! Indoors is another story; he doesn’t like them in what he considers his “space” & his Napoleon complex comes out & tries to pick fights. A fence is not required as long as the owner will walk him regularly.  Skippy’s ideal home would be a low traffic one with one or two owners; preferably female. Due to his little dog syndrome he shouldn’t be homed with children. He is cat friendly & doesn’t seem to care about sharing his home with them, or so his foster family was told. Ideally, it would be great for him to be an only dog, but we think he would be okay living with a low key, submissive, older female that isn’t the type to be in his face or push his buttons. Hopefully Skippy’s ideal home is out there & he can bask in all his glory for the rest of his elder years! Skippy is now neutered, up to date with vaccines and microchipped. He did just have a dental in July before coming to us. His adoption fee is $50.00.If you are interested in adopting Skippy,  please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application. Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 9th 2026 (could be sooner!) to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Benny to our trip for the right home/homes! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! His adoption fee, along with his adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Benny ultimately finalizing his adoption. Meet Benny 💙 Some puppies simply have “it” — that gentle spark, that intuitive sweetness, that soft, loving presence that wraps around you the moment they crawl into your arms. Benny is one of those rare little souls. Even at such a young age, he carries a calm confidence and an emotional awareness that feels far beyond his months. He came to us from a home where he was deeply loved and spoiled in the best ways, and you can feel that history in how connected he is to people. The devotion he offers is pure, immediate, and full-hearted. His journey to us was a tender one. His prior owner adored him and struggled tremendously with the decision to surrender him. A sudden breakup and the need to return to full-time work meant Benny would no longer have the companionship he was accustomed to — and she knew that wouldn’t be fair to him. She chose the selfless path, asking us to take him in and ensure he found a home where he could continue to be someone’s whole world. Because that is exactly what Benny is meant to be: a true companion, a shadow, a love-at-your-side kind of dog. He is incredibly smart — shockingly so for his age — and don’t let his size fool you. When you call “Benny!”, you hear his little paws pattering toward you from wherever he is, bursting with excitement just to be close. His heart lives for connection. And he is doing phenomenal at his house training — truly remarkable for a puppy his age. He goes outside every couple of hours to use the restroom, and due to his tiny size, he is always supervised for his safety. He’s attentive, willing, and eager to learn, which makes him such a joy in a structured home. He is a snuggler to his core, happiest pressed against your chest or curled at your side. Sleeping in bed with his person is one of the joys of his life, so if dogs in the bed aren’t your thing, he may not be the right fit. His previous owner let him be her cuddle buddy, and that comfort has shaped who he is. He’s the kind of dog who wants to wake up with his head on your pillow and fall asleep knowing you’re right there. Crates, though, are not his preference. We believe it’s the feeling of confinement — after being so bonded to his person his whole life, he simply doesn’t understand being separated or closed away. He isn’t destructive, and he isn’t mischievous; he just thrives when he’s near the people he loves. Being kept apart feels foreign to him, and we want to honor the emotional safety he has built through closeness, not separation. He LOVES his beds — so much so that we keep one in every space he spends time in. He’ll flop into them dramatically, roll on his back, or tuck himself in like a tiny burrito. In the car, he enjoys looking out the window, taking in the world with those big expressive eyes. And at the groomer? He’s an absolute dream. Being pampered suits him, and he handles grooming like a seasoned professional. Leash training hasn’t begun yet, as we needed to make sure all his vaccines were fully current before introducing him to the outside world. Now that he’s officially cleared, his new world is opening up — and with his eager-to-please personality, we have no doubt he’ll take to leash training beautifully and naturally. On the health side, Benny was born 5/22/25 and is completely current on everything age-appropriate. He has had a great full exam with our vet, is microchipped, has had his deworming based on fecal results sent to the lab, and is going home with a health certificate showing he has been fully cleared for adoption. He weighs 5.5 lbs currently and is expected to be around 10–12 lbs full grown. He is a purebred Maltese, and everything about him — his coat, his temperament, his expression — reflects the sweetness and refinement of his breed. Because he is still so young, he will be going home on a neuter contract, as it is important to allow him time to grow and mature before being fixed. What Benny needs most is someone who truly wants a companion. Someone who loves a dog that follows them from room to room, listens for their voice, and melts into their lap the moment they sit down. He thrives on closeness and emotional connection. He is eager to please, affectionate, and has one of those soft, intuitive personalities that simply makes a home feel warmer. If you’re looking for a sweet soul who will meet you at the door every day with his whole heart shining in his eyes, Benny is waiting for you. His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/benny which covers all of his veterinary care to date (including vaccines, microchip/registration, fecal testing, deworming, his full exam, and his issued health certificate), as well as the months of care, meals, grooming upkeep, and training he has received with us. Every adoption directly supports our ability to continue rescuing and preparing dogs like Benny for the beautiful lives they deserve.

PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK MEET DEXTER the MALTI-CHON-POO North New Jersey Dexter is an 18lb 10 yo Maltese-Bichon-Poodle and the sweetest little dude. Dexter was loved his whole life but unfortunately his elderly owner could no longer care for him. He is loving, gentle, and quiet and would be a wonderful companion for someone who is retired or works from home and wants a buddy to hang out with. Dexter loves to nap and EAT and enjoys meandering around the yard sniffing all the smells. In his former home he didn’t have a yard so he is accustomed to going for walks. He lived with another small breed dog in his former home and currently in his foster home and doesn’t have much interest in them. He very much prefers his human but he is pretty independent as well. He is just an all-around easy going guy that is just happy to have a soft bed and yummy food with some pets and loving in between. Dexter is not a fussy eater but his tummy was a bit of figuring out. He landed on a basic kibble and has been regular since. He was brought UTD, HW negative, had a dental and cherry eye removal (it won’t come back), full blood work and xrays, he is neutered, and he is housebroken for outside but he will use potty pads if available. He is a loving little guy that deserves his special person for the holidays. If you are interested in meeting Dexter please fill out our adoption application (link below) and read our process (below and on our website). Please note we do not reply to all applications we receive, unfortunately we do not have the bandwidth to do so at this time. We only reply if we would like to move forward with your application and we will get in touch relatively quickly so please watch your email and answer your phone. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to reply to all applicants. We also do not have the manpower to accept phone calls. Everything we know about the dog is posted above. Our adoption process is on our website. You can see more about our daily operations on our Facebook page. Meet Motas 🐾 Motas does things his own way, but he’s got a soft heart for the right person 💙 A few things about him: • Motas is independent and a little aloof at first—he likes to size you up before giving his attention • He’s smart and quick to learn when motivated, but can be a bit stubborn and has a “spicy” personality 🌶️ • Best suited for a quiet, mellow home with older kids who respect his need for space • Low-shedding and will need occasional grooming to stay looking sharp ✂️ • Training on basics is a work in progress, and he’ll do best with someone patient who understands his unique vibe • Not a lap dog on day one, but with time and trust, he reveals his loyal, loving side ❤️ If you appreciate a dog with brains, personality, and a mellow attitude, Motas might be the perfect fit for you. 📍The Center for Animal Health and Welfare PA Kennel License #02941 1165 Island Park Rd, Easton, PA 18042
