Story
Meet Mia Bella! 🐾 Mia Bella is a beautiful 2-year-old Boxer/Mastiff mix weighing 66 pounds. This sweet girl came to Anderson Humane from a partner shelter in Louisiana alongside her nine puppies. Now that her puppies are growing up, it's finally Mia Bella's turn to find the loving forever home she deserves. Mia Bella is a gentle, easygoing companion with a heart full of love. She may take a little time to feel comfortable with new people—especially men—but once you've earned her trust, she'll be your biggest fan. Cuddles, affection, and spending time by your side are some of her favorite things, and her serious expression is simply deceiving—deep down, she just wants to be your best friend. This lovely girl enjoys treats, toys, and relaxing outside, soaking up the fresh air at her own pace. She's crate-trained, potty-trained, and wonderfully quiet, making her an easy addition to the home. Mia Bella is also a fast learner who loves to please and is already making great progress with commands like sit, paw, down, and stay. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will reward your patience with endless love and cuddles, Mia Bella is ready to steal your heart. When Mia Bella arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Mia Bella to recover and complete treatment is in a loving forever home. If you choose to adopt Mia Bella, our clinic staff will support you every step of the way by answering questions and providing guidance throughout her treatment. The process generally takes about three months and involves some simple at-home care to help keep her safe while she recovers. The final step is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff anticipates that Mia Bella will make a full recovery! It's also important to know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal through mosquito bites. If you're looking for a gentle, affectionate companion with lots of love to give, Mia Bella is ready to meet you! Stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Story
Hi, I'm Beignet! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together!

Story
I am 53 lbs, and I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $450 Shy is a beautiful girl with a stunning brindle coat and a gentle, sensitive soul. True to her name, she can be a little shy at first and may need a minute to warm up to new people. But once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines through. Shy loves affection and will happily lean into you for pets once she trusts you. She has such a tender heart and just wants to be close to someone who cares about her. She came to us when her owner sadly became homeless, and the change has been scary for her. Shy is simply looking for a safe, loving home again — a place where she can relax, feel secure, and be someone’s beloved companion. With a little patience and kindness, Shy will reward you with quiet loyalty and lots of love. All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. We also cannot guarantee the ages of our adoptable animals or how large puppies will be when fully grown. We look forward to seeing you soon! Story
Hi, I’m Peewee and I’m ready to find my forever home!  Location: Kaukauna, WI Date of Birth: 6/07/2024 Gender: Male  Breed: Mastiff Color: Tan Dog's Weight: 139 Gets along with: Dogs?: All dogs Cats?:  Unknown Kids?: All kids Training: Leash Trained: Working on it! Crate Trained: Goes to crate/kennel on command Potty Trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides well in car Meet PeeWee At 139 pounds, PeeWee is a lot of dog, but his favorite thing in the world is simple: being close to his people. If you're sitting down, don't be surprised if PeeWee appears at your side looking for pets. And if you stop petting him before he's ready? He'll happily remind you with a gentle nudge that your job isn't finished yet. PeeWee is settling beautifully into foster care and has quickly shown everyone what a sweet, affectionate boy he is. He loves attention, enjoys following his people around the house, and can often be found proudly carrying one of his stuffed toys from room to room as if he's showing off a prized possession. This handsome guy is potty trained, crate trained, rides great in the car, and is working hard on his leash skills. He's also proven to be a good patient at the vet—except when it came time for his glands to be expressed, and honestly, who can blame him? Like many intelligent dogs, PeeWee occasionally finds creative ways to entertain himself. Shoes and TV remotes sometimes catch his attention, but more often than not, he'll proudly bring his treasures right back to you in exchange for affection. He is still learning some basic manners and will benefit from continued training and consistency. We want to be honest that PeeWee can be wary of men and will need slow, patient introductions to build trust. Once he feels safe, however, his loving personality shines through. He is also a strong dog with a stubborn streak, so his future family should be comfortable handling a giant breed and committed to continuing his training. PeeWee may do well as an only dog or with another compatible canine companion. He reportedly did well with other dogs while at the shelter, and we're continuing to learn more about his preferences. His compatibility with cats is currently unknown. PeeWee's ideal family is one that appreciates giant breed dogs, enjoys an affectionate companion, and is willing to invest in obedience training and confidence-building. In return, they'll get a loyal friend, a dedicated cuddle enthusiast, and a dog who will make them laugh daily with his goofy antics and oversized personality. If you're looking for a sweet, lovable giant who wants nothing more than to be near his people, PeeWee may be the perfect addition to your family.   Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Hi, I’m Orville.  I am a senior boy looking to relax in a home for my golden years. I will need typical senior care special needs. Dog’s Name: Orville Location: St. Joseph, IL Date of Birth: 06/28/2017 Gender: Male Breed: Mastiff Mix Color: Brindle Dog's Weight: 118 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  All Cats Kids?: Have not tested with kids Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Orville Orville is the definition of laid-back love. This tall, gentle boy is happiest right by your side — truly your shadow in the very best way. Whether you're moving from room to room or enjoying a quiet afternoon, Orville will calmly stroll along beside you. He’s a pleasure on walks and just as easy in the yard, where he prefers to stay close rather than wander. Orville is wonderfully quiet and only speaks up when it’s time to head outside. His house manners are impeccable — he has his potty routine down perfectly and hasn’t had a single accident in foster care. He politely sits for his food bowl and treats, and at this stage in life, he’s more about companionship than chaos. While he may be a little slower these days, that just makes him an easy keeper and an incredibly devoted companion. Orville is quiet and well mannered, great on walks, fully house trained, does not require a fenced yard, will do well as an only dog or with a calm buddy, and an excellent choice for a first-time giant breed owner. Orville isn’t looking for adventure — he’s looking for connection. If you’re hoping for a steady, gentle presence who will faithfully follow you through life’s simple moments, Orville is ready to be your loyal best friend.
