Hi, I’m Sawyer and I’m new to the rescue. I am currently decompressing and getting used to my foster family. Check back as my foster family learns more about me! Dog’s Name: Sawyer Location: Chicago, Il Age or Date of Birth: 11/18/2024 Gender: Male Breed: Matador (Mastiff / Labrador Mix) Color: Tan Dog's Weight: 31 lbs Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?: Unknown Kids?: All kids Training: Leash trained:  In progress Crate/Kennel:   In progress Potty trained:   In progress Sawyer is a very happy go lucky guy. Although he has had a rough beginning to his life with his eyelids, Sawyer doesn’t let that stop him from being your typical puppy. He has the sweetest most loving personality with a flair for silly. His favorite pastime is being a complete couch potato and loves to snuggle. But he does find time to play and rough house with his foster sister and occasionally drops his butt with the zoomies. Sawyer is very smart and responds well to correction.  With proper training, he will make an amazing companion in any loving home. Sawyer is a puppy and will thrive in any home. He will need a little extra TLC until his eyelids are fully corrected and healed. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Story
Calling all Mastiff and Senior lovers!! ❤️❤️ Our special sweet 10 year old Mastiff Mix Caramel Apple is in urgent need of a forever home. Caramel came up north after being surrendered by her owner for no fault of her own. After 45 days, her time for euthanasia came for length of stay - pups only get 45 days. This poor sweet senior was lucky enough to have a family step up to foster who planned to give her a retirement home. But due to a death in their family, life threw loving Caramel a curve ball. A new foster stepped up but Caramel finds her self searching again after foster has had a life change and she finds herself with no place to go. This is no place for a senior who recently completed ACL surgery after falling in her foster home. Caramel Apple is hearing impaired but that hasn’t slowed this sweet gentle giant down. She’s 111 lbs of love! She is wonderful with children in her foster home and other larger dogs in her foster home. She lovingly takes treats and enjoys a long nap! She loves every human she meets! If you want a mature pup with manners, Caramel is your girl - she takes treats gently, is fully potty trained and even knows hand commands. Caramel’s an easy to please girl, she craves nothing more than a comfy bed, sunbathing or light strolls followed by a nice back rub. Caramel has been waiting since October and has completely ACL surgery and heartworm treatment and she deserves nothing more than a forever home to spend the rest of her years. If you have a spot on the couch or a warm bed, Caramel is your gentle giant! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process. Please understand we must meet your entire household, including dogs, before an adoption will be approved. Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant (adopter) for any reason.

Story
Hi, All Mac, here short for Mac truck lol. If you love big goofy dogs, I'm your guy. I am 100 lbs. of cuddle bug. I really don't think I am as big as they say I am because I would prefer to just be a couch Potatoe and lay next to my people and chew on a bone. I am a people kind of guy and love everyone I meet. I can probably live with another dog, but he would have to be calmer like me. but little dogs and very young children I would be afraid of because I am clumsy and wouldn't want to hurt them. I definitely don't think I could handle cats. But I know a lot of commands they say I am really smart and a fast learner. I am potty trained but do not like cages. I am strong on a leash so I would need a strong owner. Fill out an app here. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdsHBf5NUtvyBYpzWm6Z5Z0JosLBTsDC98oxPTfxtM9brrc7Q/viewform

Story
Bailey Age: 2 years Gender: Female Breed: Mastiff mix Weight: 100lbs Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes Dog friendly: No Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Unknown Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Negative Microchipped: Yes Energy level: Medium, can and will find things she can destroy if not watched or exercised regularly. Location: Fostered in Chicago, Illinois. No out of state applicants, please. Bailey came to us as a skinny, terrified, stray dog that would have likely been euthanized at animal control. Her finder spent days gaining her trust to get her off the streets, and offered to foster her. Bailey has blossomed since first being found. She loves to be outside. Very protective of her people. Loves to roll in the grass. Sweetie pie. Loves to eat. Enjoys stealing wet cat food. Not a fan of other dogs. Still working on her walking calm when others are too close for her comfort but she’s a protective breed and watches over her foster mom. She doesn’t care for bike riders. Bailey is a sweetie pie that thinks she's a small lap dog. She's happy just to be with you. She loves long walks and playing outside but if you just want to stay inside and watch a movie she's content to put her big head on your lap and watch the movie with you. Bailey would do best in a quiet home with adults only. If you’re interested in meeting Bailey, please fill out an application at the link below. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
