Story
Nala is such a sweet and smart pup. Her motto is play hard, sleep hard. She loves long walks, meeting kids at school, playing with her doggo pals, and chewing on bones. After such a busy day, she wants to curl up in your lap for a snuggle and will interrupt your TV shows with cute puppy snores. Nala shows her smarts with all the new tricks she is mastering. Beyond sit, stay, lay down and leave it, she can entertain you by shaking hands, high fives, and even hugs. Her leash skills are improving rapidly, but she could use some more work on heel in such an exciting and distracting environment like a neighborhood or park.At home she gets along well with her human family including the two young humans and their friends. She loves her crate for bedtime and relaxation. She is also completely house trained.Nala would fit right into an active family that wants to share their attention and love. A dog friend would be a bonus. She is a puppy, so someone that will give her exercise and training would be best. She would make a great running partner or do perfect with a large backyard. Although, being the smart gal she is, she has figured out how to climb a chain link fence, so a privacy fence or family who walks are a good fit for her. This beauty is so ready to share her love. Do you have a heart big enough for her? Story
HI! My name is Yrene (pronounced Irene). Funny story about my history of names: when I first came into animal control, they thought I was a boy, and named me Waylon. Waylon is actually a pretty cool name, but how could they mistake this beautiful face! My foster mom was looking for a boy dog to foster, but once she met me and saw how sweet (and skinny) I was, she couldn’t say no. I was weak and shut down when they found me, but I’ve blossomed into a strong, silly, and loving girl. The things I love most are food, toys and snuggling at your feet. Loving food makes me treat motivated and easy to train. I’m a pro at kenneling up!  I can be shy at first to people and animals, but it doesn’t take me long to feel comfortable enough to show my true self. I currently live with other big dogs and a cat, and especially love being around my dog foster brother. My dream home has a backyard to romp around in, followed by a comfy spot inside to take a long LONG nap.  One of my favorite activities is to take all my toys out of the toy bucket to pick which one to play with for the day and then carry it outside and forget about it. Maybe someone can train me to put all my toys back too! I do cute waves and head tilts with the most adorable face wrinkles. I’d really love a family of my own that would bond with me through positive reinforcement training so I can be my bestest doggo self! The adoption fee for Yrene is $300.  This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet  Yrene  please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team members.  February 10, 2024, 6:04 pm

Story
Scooby Do is about 8 months old. A family friend had a litter and he was having a hard time with all of them so we decided to help and take one in. He is a bit nervous to meet new people. Took about 2 weeks for him to warm up to us. Once he did, he became the sweetest dog. He is great with our children and loves to play with our older dog. He does require a lot of toys to keep him busy; the harder, the better. He also needs a place he can run off to and relax on his own. We usually keep his cage in a corner in the living room. He is house trained. He can last 4 hours outside of the cage without any accidents. We never tried longer than that. He does require someone to have the patience to let him get comfortable. Like I said before, it took us two weeks. A lot of time on the floor trying to coax him to come closer. He is treat motivated. Best adjective to describe him: goofy.

Story
Bailey Age: 2 years Gender: Female Breed: Mastiff mix Weight: 100lbs Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes Dog friendly: No Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Unknown Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Negative Microchipped: Yes Energy level: Medium, can and will find things she can destroy if not watched or exercised regularly. Location: Fostered in Chicago, Illinois. No out of state applicants, please. Bailey came to us as a skinny, terrified, stray dog that would have likely been euthanized at animal control. Her finder spent days gaining her trust to get her off the streets, and offered to foster her. Bailey has blossomed since first being found. She loves to be outside. Very protective of her people. Loves to roll in the grass. Sweetie pie. Loves to eat. Enjoys stealing wet cat food. Not a fan of other dogs. Still working on her walking calm when others are too close for her comfort but she’s a protective breed and watches over her foster mom. She doesn’t care for bike riders. Bailey is a sweetie pie that thinks she's a small lap dog. She's happy just to be with you. She loves long walks and playing outside but if you just want to stay inside and watch a movie she's content to put her big head on your lap and watch the movie with you. Bailey would do best in a quiet home with adults only. If you’re interested in meeting Bailey, please fill out an application at the link below. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
