Meet Caster
Good catch. Here's the corrected version with his name as Castor throughout:
Castor may be one of the smaller dogs in rescue, but don't let his size fool you. This young guy is packed full of energy, enthusiasm, and personality. He loves being involved in whatever his people are doing and is happiest when he's right by your side. Whether you're moving from room to room or heading out for an adventure, Castor is ready to join in.
One of Castor's favorite things in the world is spending time with his humans. He's affectionate, loves giving kisses, and has a knack for becoming your loyal shadow. In the home, he's generally calm and settles nicely, though his curious nature and active mind can occasionally lead him into a little mischief.
Castor is potty trained, highly food motivated, and goes into his crate on command. He rides reasonably well in the car, though he's still working on staying calm around passing dogs and people. Like many smart, energetic young dogs, he's always looking for opportunities to explore, which means his future family will need to be mindful of his escape-artist tendencies. Castor has been known to chew through leashes when tied out and may attempt to make his own adventures if given the opportunity.
We want to be honest that Castor is currently reactive on walks and will need continued training and management. He can have strong reactions to dogs and sometimes to people who get too close. The good news is that he's already showing improvement, and his foster family believes he has great potential with consistent guidance. Because we're still learning about him, his compatibility with other dogs remains uncertain, though he has successfully met a calm dog while on leash. His interactions with cats have been limited but encouraging, as he has shown curiosity without tension.
Castor's ideal home is with an active adopter who enjoys outdoor activities and understands the importance of training and structure. A fenced yard would be a huge benefit, giving him a safe place to run, wrestle, and burn off energy. He could make an excellent jogging partner, hiking buddy, or even a candidate for dog sports with the right person.
While Castor may require a little extra work, he offers so much in return. He's smart, affectionate, eager to engage with his people, and full of potential. For someone looking for an active companion and willing to invest in continued training, Castor could become an incredible best friend and adventure partner.
***** One special thing to know about Castor is that he currently lives with fellow foster Poe. Despite both boys having strong personalities and ongoing training needs, they genuinely enjoy each other's company. They play together, spend time together, and have become important parts of each other's daily lives.
While we would absolutely love to see them adopted together, we understand that finding the perfect home is most important. Because of that, Castor and Poe are available for separate adoption and we are committed to finding each of them the family that best fits their individual needs. Whether adopted together or apart, both boys deserve loving homes where they can continue to thrive.
