Story
Sonny - Male English Mastiff Age: 2.5 years Good with: Cats: Yes Dogs: Yes with slow intro Kids: Yes, older kids Location: Noble, IL Weight: 160 lbs Training: Leash Trained - walks loose leash Crate Trained - goes to crate/kennel on command Potty Trained - indicates need to potty and doesn't have indoor accidents Car - Rides well in the carMeet Sonny- he is sure to sweep you off your feet and fill an empty spot on your sofa and heart. He’s notin a hurry to rush things, he prefers to take things nice and slow. Making sure things are safe and givinghim the time he deserves to get familiar with all things new is key. Sonny prefers a home with a confidentleader and lots of structure. He loves to stay on his routine once he has that figured out the rest is history. Sonny does great with the company of another dog that understands he’s the boss. A female dogcompanion would be ideal, but being the only dog child would be just fine too. If your home has a dogsavy cat, count him in.Sonny prefers to spend his days lounging on the couch or a comfy spot at the feet of his person. He reallylikes the ladies. You will never do a single thing alone at home with him around. Spending time outsidesunbathing is refreshing. But he has just enough energy to chase a ball or wrestle his fur sibling outside. When it comes to little people-Sonny absolutely adores older giant breed experienced kiddos. He thinksit’s really fun to chase his current little person on his dirt bike, always keeping his eye on him to makesure he’s safe. He’s also a pro at hanging out and just watching tv with the little people when it’s time tocall it a day.Potty and crate trained-he has it mastered. Sonny does well on a leash and even knows how to sit, shakeand stay when instructed.A fenced in backyard wouldn’t be a must, but having strangers in/out of an open yard likely wouldn’t behis cup of tea. That would be a little scary for him. Sonny also has really long legs and can cover a lot ofground in a hurry if he gets the urge to explore so being left unsupervised outside wouldn’t be ideal Sonny's perfect adopter?Patient, experienced large breed, he will be a work in progress. He is very leary of new people and getsspooked easily. Has to be someone that has time and patience to work through his initial fear. He is lessworried with females initially but I do think he needs a confident, gentle male in his life. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Norbert (Norby) - Male English Mastiff Age: 1 year, 10 months Good with: Cats: Yes, with slow introductions Dogs: Yes Kids: Does well with older kids Other: Goats Location: Oak Forrest, IL Weight: 130 lbs Norbert is a sweet dog. He loves to be by his people but is content to chill out as well. He loves belly rubs and enjoys playing with his toys or people outside. Norbert would do well in any home that can give him attention and love. He would be fine with a first-time giant owner. He would do best in a house with other animals and a fenced yard. He doesn’t require a lot of exercise but he’s so happy when he sees other animals or when my kids go outside to play with him. Story
Hi, All Mac, here short for Mac truck lol. If you love big goofy dogs, I'm your guy. I am 100 lbs. of cuddle bug. I really don't think I am as big as they say I am because I would prefer to just be a couch Potatoe and lay next to my people and chew on a bone. I am a people kind of guy and love everyone I meet. I can probably live with another dog, but he would have to be calmer like me. but little dogs and very young children I would be afraid of because I am clumsy and wouldn't want to hurt them. I definitely don't think I could handle cats. But I know a lot of commands they say I am really smart and a fast learner. I am potty trained but do not like cages. I am strong on a leash so I would need a strong owner.

🎉ANNABELLE🎉 This is one happy girl! She loves to love. Annabelle mastered crate and potty training in no time. She quickly learned “sit”. Does well on a leash. And loves snuggles. She is dog friendly. She does fine with the inside cat but the outside cats she can be overly interested in. Annabelle loves to chew her bone. She LOVES playing with her best buddy Sarge (also available for adoption! - they would be a great duo to adopt together! 😉) Annabelle weighed in at 65lbs yesterday and is said to be around 6/8 months. Story
Bailey Age: 2 years Gender: Female Breed: Mastiff mix Weight: 100lbs Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes Dog friendly: No Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Unknown Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Negative Microchipped: Yes Energy level: Medium, can and will find things she can destroy if not watched or exercised regularly. Location: Fostered in Chicago, Illinois. No out of state applicants, please. Bailey came to us as a skinny, terrified, stray dog that would have likely been euthanized at animal control. Her finder spent days gaining her trust to get her off the streets, and offered to foster her. Bailey has blossomed since first being found. She loves to be outside. Very protective of her people. Loves to roll in the grass. Sweetie pie. Loves to eat. Enjoys stealing wet cat food. Not a fan of other dogs. Still working on her walking calm when others are too close for her comfort but she’s a protective breed and watches over her foster mom. She doesn’t care for bike riders. Bailey is a sweetie pie that thinks she's a small lap dog. She's happy just to be with you. She loves long walks and playing outside but if you just want to stay inside and watch a movie she's content to put her big head on your lap and watch the movie with you. Bailey would do best in a quiet home with adults only. If you’re interested in meeting Bailey, please fill out an application at the link below. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog

Story
Mojo Age: ~1 year Gender: Male Breed: Bullmastiff/Boxer mix   Weight: 82lbs Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes Dog friendly: Yes, with proper introductions  Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes, a better match for kids 8+ in the home Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Negative  Microchipped: Yes Energy level: Moderate Mojo is being fostered in Chicago.  Mojo is a big ol’ puppy, in all the best ways. He’s got that “Gentle Giant” thing down pat, with some added spunk and a whole lot of comedy. He is the perfect mix of couch potato and world class parkour athlete, and has been an absolute pleasure to live with. If you’ve never seen a 100 pound dog with the zoomies, you are in for a treat! It’s hilarious.  Mojo loves to be close to you, and is a champion snuggler, but isn’t a total Velcro dog, and he self-entertains quite well. He has picked up potty training quickly and hasn’t shown a strong inclination to chew on inappropriate items. He has a big love for pulling the stuffing out of plush toys, so I can’t promise he wouldn’t do the same with a fluffy dog bed or throw pillow if left unsupervised with them, though he has been fine with the bed in his crate.  Mojo is a total ham. He makes us laugh constantly. His tail never stops wagging, and he’s often sporting his signature grin. He loves to soak up the sunshine and roll in the grass. He’s super food motivated, and playing tug is his #1 thing in the world. Mojo has received training on basic obedience and house manners. He is respectful of doorways and doesn’t dash through them. He knows the cues sit, down, come, with me, leave it, drop it, wait, find it, get it, touch, off, spin, kennel, and place. He has great engagement, learns quickly, and loves to train. He is calm and quiet in his crate and goes in easily. He is happy sleeping in his crate or curled up at your feet in bed.  Mojo has integrated very well with the cats and older children in his foster home. He is working through some normal adolescent impulse control stuff, and learning to tolerate frustration a little better. Right now, his biggest challenge is being restricted by a leash. He likely didn’t have any experience walking on a leash in his previous home, so it’s a new skill for him. He isn’t really a puller, but wants to be able to run up to every dog and person he sees, and gets pretty frustrated when he can’t. He needs a bit more practice with walking beside his handler, instead of weaving back and forth in front of them. We are continuing to work on this, and are happy to provide an adopter with support to keep him on the right track.  Mojo’s ideal home would be with a family who is committed to continuing his training through positive reinforcement methods. He is a very large, strong, athletic dog, and will need regular exercise and enrichment. With adopters committed to providing for his needs, he could easily thrive in an apartment, but he wouldn’t turn down a house with a yard to romp in! He may do well with another medium to large dog in the home. He seems to have a preference for female dogs, but has also played well with some males. If you have a dog, we will arrange meet and greets to ensure they will be a good match. He does very well with children, but due simply to his size and adolescent antics, I wouldn’t recommend him for a home with children under age 8.  If you’re interested in meeting Mojo, please fill out an application at the link below. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
