Story

This is Henry. He is the sweetest English Mastiff. We rescued him when he was about 2 (18 months ago). We would love to keep him, but he tends to be a bit anxious in the city, and we cannot provide him the attention that he deserves. We have taken him to three-week training, and has some new skills, but he hasn't been the best with walks in the city, and when we are away, he gets a bit anxious sometimes and will try to get into packages that we've received from amazon, or find himself a plastic or paper bag to chew. He needs a home either in the suburbs or in the country, or with someone who can give him more attention during the day in the city. He's so sweet to our six year old boy, and loves him immensely. He loves visitors, and wants nothing more than to get as many pets as possible.

This handsome 132 pound magnificent mastiff mix came into our care a few weeks ago, and in that time, he has shown himself to be an unbelievably affectionate dog. He hasn't met a single stranger he hasn't wanted to be best friends with! At 8 years old, Newt is showing us that he still has a lot of pep in his step, and could do well in a pretty active household, but he could also do fine in a home that is mostly low key, too! In spite of his bad luck, it was clear to us that he wanted nothing more than to have a friend (and maybe a stuffed animal or two!) by his side. He eventually got his wish and was adopted by a young couple, and for the next several months we had hoped Zeus was thriving in his new home. Unfortunately, however, Zeus was returned to us in December of 2022, just four months after his initial adoption, and he's had a difficult time adjusting to life in the shelter ever since. Zeus struggles with severe reactivity to other dogs, and weighing in at 93lbs he turned out to be too much to handle for his adopters at the time. All of this being said, Zeus is probably the living embodiment of a "gentle giant". Zeus is one of the friendliest and most affectionate dogs to have graced us at CCR, he absolutely adores people and the only thing he may love more is all the stuffed animals he keeps with him wherever he goes! At just over 2 years old he still has plenty of energy to burn. He loves playing tug of war and keep-away with the staff, and he's known to enjoy a game of fetch if the price is right! Zeus is well past the puppy/teenage stage of needing constant high energy outlets and is perfectly content exploring the outdoors on his own (as long as you're nearby) or cozying up on the couch to watch a movie. Oakley and Angelica are siblings that found themselves homeless and a friend of Mag Mutts asked if we could assist in caring for them and find them forever homes. They are Parvo survivors, approximately 15 weeks old, guessed to be a Mastiff mix and weigh between 31-36lbs (Oakley is a bit heavier than his sister). They are estimated to be a large breed once fully grown. Oakley is such a beautiful boy - charismatic, affectionate, loves to be held, cuddly and can be goofy at times too! He loves to play and is a smart, calm, lovable guy! He gets along with kids, other dogs, and house training is progressing well! He is crate trained and will sleep until 5-6am when will softly alert you to his need to go out! He is also doing well with learning leash walking skills and knows how to sit on command! We recommend obedience training for all puppies! **Breed or size (once fully grown) is a 'best guess' and is not guaranteed since they arrived into rescue without either parent. **Magnificent Mutts is an all foster home based rescue and meets are held by appointment with the entire family in attendance.
