Swayze is officially available for adoption!! Swayze has come so far as a foster dog. When I first brought him home, he was not potty trained, not socialized and not crate trained… and that has all changed. Swayze is now fully potty trained. He is crated 8 hours a day 5 days a week and doing well. He’s not going to go into a crate for free… He happily goes in with a high value Kong treat filled with pub cheese and a dental bone. Because he’s not going to spend the whole day with cheese breath. And you should appreciate that. Socialization has been a big focus of my training with Swayze. Anyone who has raised a puppy knows that dogs need to be exposed to a lot of sights and sounds to confidently exist in the world around them. I strongly believe Swayze’s former owners skipped that step. So I’m making sure I don’t. Swayze has been exposed to a lot of new sights and sounds on our walks… and instead of jumping at anything new, he now struts down the path like he’s the shit. And he is. Work it man! In the shelter, Swayze attended multiple playgroups and has been doing well playing with my 2 giant dogs (male and female) the last couple of days. Again, I don’t think he was trained as a puppy, he sometimes can be a little mouthy with play but he has been responding really well to both of my dogs teaching him what’s acceptable in play and what’s not. And he’s listening to them and getting better. Because he’s still learning, I would really feel most comfortable with him going to a home with adults and older, respectful children only. No young children. He has not been cat tested because I hate litter boxes and that’s not an option in my home. Lastly, Swayze can be a little cautious with new men. Male volunteers worked with him in the shelter but I highly suspect that Swayze had some negative experiences with the male gender. He would benefit from a calm, patient family who would allow him to slowly warm up to men. This is an area I will continue to work with him on. Overall, Swayze is a beautiful, brindle sweetheart who has shown he is so smart and wants to be a very good boy. My home is crazy for Swayze! You will be too. When he first arrived at CCR, we knew Zeus was a big boy with an even bigger heart! In spite of his bad luck, it was clear to us that he wanted nothing more than to have a friend (and maybe a stuffed animal or two!) by his side. He eventually got his wish and was adopted by a young couple, and for the next several months we had hoped Zeus was thriving in his new home. Unfortunately, however, Zeus was returned to us in December of 2022, just four months after his initial adoption, and he's had a difficult time adjusting to life in the shelter ever since. Zeus struggles with severe reactivity to other dogs, and weighing in at 93lbs he turned out to be too much to handle for his adopters at the time. All of this being said, Zeus is probably the living embodiment of a "gentle giant". Zeus is one of the friendliest and most affectionate dogs to have graced us at CCR, he absolutely adores people and the only thing he may love more is all the stuffed animals he keeps with him wherever he goes! At just over 2 years old he still has plenty of energy to burn. He loves playing tug of war and keep-away with the staff, and he's known to enjoy a game of fetch if the price is right! Zeus is well past the puppy/teenage stage of needing constant high energy outlets and is perfectly content exploring the outdoors on his own (as long as you're nearby) or cozying up on the couch to watch a movie. He truly is a well-rounded guy who just wants a pal to keep him company!Due to his size and on-leash reactivity- we suggest that Zeus be the only animal in the home and only go into a house with adults or children over the age of 15.

***NEW PICTURES ADDED***Keylee's Recovery Page 6-2023: Keylee has been waiting over 2 years to find her new forever home. She has gotten chubby in foster care and really needs a loving home that can get her out and about as she needs to lose at least 20lbs. We think she may have a sluggish thyroid and she is having new blood work soon. Keylee is just the best dog-- such a sweet temperament and playful with other dogs too. It would benefit Keylee to be in a home with other playful dogs. 2-2023: Keylee came through our heartworm slow kill program just beautifully. She was actually negative last July. She's been keeping Pointer, Faith, company in her foster home near the twin cities and has become a proper house dog and bed hog. She has put on a few pounds too. The perfect family for Keylee would like a big mastiff looking dog that has a houndie bark. She loves walks and cuddles on the couch. Keylee could be close to 10 years old now but has a lot of love to give. Her forever home must have a safe fenced in yard. Keylee is a approximately 8 year old Lab. Hound mix that had been at a shelter in Greenville, KY since September of 2020. She had been adopted out and returned and came back with heartworms the last time. The shelter has limited funds and she didn't have any basic heartworm slow kill care until I mailed some supplies in April. We finally got her moved to town and she is doing great. She is sweet with other dogs and would be great as a family pet. She is so happy to be in a home again. She will be in our heartworm slow kill program and why she'll need to be in foster to adopt.
