Story

Charlie is a loving, snuggly boy that our family adopted 4 years ago. He believes he is a lapdog and if he tries to sit on your lap then you know he truly loves you. We had one dog when we adopted him, and they connected instantly and have been the best of friends ever since. In fact, he was a big part of helping our first pup overcome her separation anxiety. He is house-trained and does well off leash in a safe space with trusted owner. He is reactive towards other dogs, but in the sense that he gets super excited and wants to play, but it can be too much for other dogs. The reason we are looking to rehome him is because we had another child and she is now getting to a more mobile age, unfortunately triggering unpredictable behavior in Charlie. He has nipped the hand of both of our children and we feel he would be better in a home with no children and an experienced owner. It also takes him some time to warm up to new faces. This is sad for all of us, we want the best for him.

He was left behind when his owners moved out. Very affectionate.He looks like a goofy, kind of floppy hound dog as he ambles around. He’s sweet and affectionate. Gets along with most dogs. He’s a little bossy with food especially with a timid dog. Feeding in a crate solves that. Loves his play time in the yard with two stout dogs. Great on a leash. Dodger. No filter. Just fancy lights. Dodger is gorgeous — a truly handsome, very sweet boy. This guy looks magical in any lighting, no filter required. He patiently waited while we played around with the settings on our newly donated lights and was the best little staging assistant we could’ve asked for. Whoever is lucky enough to bring him home will never run out of photogenic moments to share and we hope inspire more wonderful people to come meet his friends still waiting at CACC. Adopt, don’t shop… and maybe start with Dodger. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
