Story
CHUNKY HUNK  Mr. T, aka chunky hunky meatball has come to PA to find his forever home! He is a big handsome 5yr old bully mix who weighs approximately 92 pounds however he is on a diet to lose some pounds. Mr. T is not thrilled about being on a diet because he loves food so much! However being an overweight tripod is tough on the bones so for his best interest he should shed some pounds. Mr. T is a happy go with the flow boy who loves food, bones and doggie friends to hang around with. He does have some skin allergies so his skin isn’t looking the greatest right now but we are currently working on improving his skin with fish oil and sensitive skin food. Mr. T is house and crate trained but he is not crated at his foster home and has done great! He is neutered, UTD on vaccines and preventatives. If you have room in your home for this big love bug apply today! Mr. T is currently being fostered in Dillsburg PA with his foster friend Azul. New Oxford PA 17350; LIC # 9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. Story
Hello, my name's Marigold! I came to the shelter as a stray, and now I am hoping to find my furever home. I am a playful and rambunctious pup with lots of energy. I will need training to be the best canine citizen I can be. I am very excitable and don't seem to know my own size, so it would be best that any kids in the home are 10 and older. I also don't really like to share what's mine, and should have mature and experienced folks handling me. There is a lot of me to love, and I could be your very best friend and companion, so please consider adopting a big, sweet goofball gal like me!---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
Clark Clark is an almost 3-year-old English mastiff. He was born February 5, 2022, so he will be 3 this February. We got him when he was about five months old. He did really well with everybody when he first got here, got along with our whole crew with no issues. Until about a year to year and a half or so ago, I believe hormones started to kick in and the test of who would be alpha between him and one of our other male, and they had quite a fight. We got them separated, worked with the both of them and was able to let them be back together for a bit until it happened again, from there out We have kept him & the other males separated, and he has been perfectly fine with all of the female dogs , perfectly fine with all of his human family especially our kids. We have a routine that we switch everybody around and one particular evening to sheer forgetfulness on my part , he and the male had another instance, so it’s been they cannot be together at all. Can explain more when needed

Story
Lexi is a special girl. Unfortunately, she was part of a long-term case and has been at the shelter for 4 years that is 1,460 days! During her time with us we have grown to love Lexi and have learned a lot about her. She is a mastiff mix and weighs in at 100 pounds and is now around 8 years old. She is a gentle girl with those that she knows but will bark at new people and is aloof until she knows them better. She is somewhat of a diva and enjoys going outside to lay in the sunshine! She loves attention and enjoys getting butt scratches! Lexi will most likely need multiple visits to build a relationship with potential adopters before going home with them. At this time, she will be shown to adopters with approved applications and by appointment only due to her shy nature. Lexi does best with a routine and will need some time to adjust to a new one. An adult only home would be best for Lexi. Lexi deserves to find a loving forever home to spend her golden years in! Lexi has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped since her arrival at the shelter. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Izzabella aka Izzy. HISTORY: One owner who did not provide basic medical care so Izzy lived many year with out of control skin issues, ear infections, UTI’s, etc. PERSONALITY: Izzy is a sweet, friendly girl that loves meeting new people and welcoming them into the house. She loves attention and affection and will lean in hard for pets and ear scratches. She tends to spend her days snoozing away but when she gets the zoomies she takes them seriously and this girl can move despite her age.  She lives peacefully with a 60lb male mixed breed but is reactive when seeing dogs out on a walk. Izzy is a bit fearful of fireworks and thunderstorms and will sometimes get spooked by loud noises. Izzy likes things to happen on her own personal timeline and can be stubborn when they don’t. She will test limits by whining and carrying on (dancing around, stomping her feet, wagging her tail furiously while staring at you) to try to get her way. She’s learning that those things don’t work in our house but it’s hard not to laugh at her antics. She’ll do it to the other dog in the house too when he’s laying in a bed that she wants. She usually gets her way with the dog.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Napping, soaking up love and attention, laying in the sun MEDICAL ISSUES: With vet care and a quality diet Izzy’s skin issues and ear infections have cleared up and she is no longer a big itchy mess. She did have a mammary tumor removed while being spayed. She is not currently on any medications. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Izzy enjoys hanging out with her people, so a family that spends a lot of time around the house/yard/garden would be great for her. Once integrated with another dog she is very polite and respectful but she definitely needs slow introductions to new dogs. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit.
