Story
Freya is a sweet, gentle girl who just needed a little time to warm up, but once she did, her goofy, loving personality began to shine. Surrendered through no fault of her own, she’s now ready to start fresh with a family who will adore her. Freya is currently being treated for some skin issues and is healing wonderfully. She loves being with people and we know her personality will only continue to blossom in a home of her own.

Story
Meet Tuco, a gentle giant with a heart as big as his paws! This handsome Mastiff mix has already stolen the hearts of everyone at the shelter. Tuco`s story began when he was abandoned at our shelter after his own passed away, but despite his rocky start, he hasn’t let it dim his sweet and loving spirit.Tuco is a smart boy who knows a few commands like `sit` and is eager to please. Since arriving, he’s been co-housed with another dog—likely his longtime companion—and has shown he can do well with canine friends. With his calm nature and affectionate personality, Tuco is ready to find a family who will give him the love, security, and cozy naps he deserves. If you’ve been looking for a loyal best friend, Tuco might just be your paw-fect match! This pet is available at:BVSPCA - Lancaster2195 Lincoln Hwy ELancaster, PA 17602PA Kennel License #18767

Story
I’m Thor — six and a half years old, one hundred thirty-four pounds, and yes… I know I’m a big boy. People call me a “galumphy mastiff,” whatever that means. All I know is that I walk kind of slow, I drool a little when I’m happy, and I like to lean my whole body against the people I trust. My best friend Murphy — she’s the strong one. She’s calm and steady and always seems to know what to do. When she walks ahead, I follow. When I’m unsure, I look for her face. When she’s next to me, I feel safe.We lost our home when our family was evicted. One day we were sleeping on our beds like always, and the next we were somewhere new, full of strange sounds and smells. I didn’t understand. But Murphy stayed close. She always does. They say we’re looking for a new home. I don’t care where it is or what it looks like… as long as Murphy comes with me. I’ve never spent life without her, and I don’t want to start now.If you have room for one giant snuggle hound and his smaller-but-braver best friend, I promise—we’ll fill your home with more love than you knew possible. Please take us together. I need her… and I’ll love you with my whole giant heart for it.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Hello to all of my fellow Mastiff lovers.   I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Bear and I am the quintessential Mastiff mix of loyalty, playfulness, gentleness, and protectiveness.  I would love to share my home with a human/s who know my breed well, as I am not a novice owner.  I take my job seriously and want you to know when there is a shift in the environment that may need your attention.   I am not a big barker but I am vigilant until you tell me that everything is ok.     I enjoy my crate and it can be a place of calm if I start to take my job too seriously.  I am completely house trained as well.     My strengths:  Smart - I know my 8 basic safety commands in varying capacities - Look, Touch, Sit, Down Stay, Come, Leave it, and Place.  Playful - I love toys, running, jumping, and hanging with my people.  Polite - I am polite on leash unless something fun comes my way like chickens or dogs.   I can become cautious if I see strangers but I move along fine if you tell me everything's ok.   Quiet - I am not a big barker and would prefer watching as things come and go in my environment.  Loyal - I am the most trustworthy guy you will ever know once I know that you are a part of my pack.  I am trusting and enjoy a cuddle once in a while.  I will look for you and want to be with you always.  Trusting - Once you belong to me, I am yours forever.   I am a great sleeper and love my meals.  I enjoy riding in cars.   I enjoy long walks when the weather is not too hot.  I think I would enjoy hiking a lot.     Things I am working on:  Commands - Perfecting my 8 safety commands.  Trusting new things - The more places I go and the more you can let me watch from a distance, the more I can trust new places.  Trusting new people - I need slow introductions with new people who are confident and want to have a relationship.  I am not interested in casual interactions.  I will do best if I know what you expect of me in these situations but I would prefer not to be pushed or 'talked into' socializing.     I will do better with no children or other pets in the home, as I have a hard time sharing the affection.  I was not proofed with cats so I don't know how I feel about them.     General Mastiff traits -  Mastiffs are known for their gentle, calm, and loyal personalities, making them excellent family pets. They are also protective and courageous, exhibiting a natural instinct to guard their families and homes. Despite their imposing size, Mastiffs are often described as 'gentle giants' due to their affectionate and patient nature.    Here's a more detailed look at their personality traits: Loyal and Devoted: Mastiffs form strong bonds with their families and are known for their unwavering loyalty.    Gentle and Affectionate: They are naturally gentle and affectionate, especially with their family members, and enjoy cuddling and close companionship.    Calm and Patient: Mastiffs are generally calm and patient, making them suitable for households with children and other pets, though early socialization and training are still important.    Protective and Courageous: They possess a natural instinct to protect their families and territory, making them excellent watchdogs.    Intelligent and Eager to Please: Mastiffs are intelligent dogs that learn quickly and respond well to positive reinforcement training methods.    Relatively Quiet: While they can be alert and watchful, they are not typically known for excessive barking.    Can be Suspicious of Strangers: It's common for Mastiffs to be wary of strangers, but with proper socialization, they can learn to be more accepting.    If you are interested in Bear, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 6, 2025, 10:18 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Meet Moose! This beautiful boy is a sweet and lovable friend who wants nothing more than to love and be loved. He’s come a long way since he first came to us. Initially seriously underweight at only 80 pounds with signs of neglect – he was likely locked in a crate with no padding for much of his life. Today he’s 104 pounds of sweet goofiness. He loves to nap, chew on his toys, go for walks, and thump his tail on the ground whenever you enter the room, or speak in a high voice… or say his name.  Likes: Moose is especially fond of people. He’s never met a person he doesn’t instantly love, and the feeling seems to be mutual. He wants to say hi to every neighbor he sees on his walks, and they’re all eager to oblige. Every vet, vet tech, or crew at the day care he occasionally goes to adore him. Moose also loves to chase and pounce on his big indestructible ball and is especially fond of chewing on his Nylabone. He’s also very fond of small backyard creatures – birds, squirrels, rabbits. Great news if you have a pesky groundhog in your yard, but you do need to be aware and on guard while walking him. Dislikes: Moose does not like to be left alone. His history of neglect and being left in a crate has led to separation anxiety. He is showing signs of growing confidence, however. He frequently seeks out his crate during the day to nap and he sleeps in an open crate every night in the bedroom. He is also comfortable going into another room and lying down by himself – he’s less and less of a Velcro dog all the time. Personality: Moose is a love bug. He has a very sweet personality and wants to please. He can be very playful and make one laugh out loud as he twists his big body into all different shapes for belly rubs. He’s pretty chill in the house – he loves to nap and chew on toys and doesn’t get into things or chew things he shouldn’t. Though he does seem to find the random sock! He’s very excited to welcome visitors – giving everyone a big “hello” and is then content to chew on his bone. Energy level: Moose has a few short bursts of playful energy during the day and is content with three short walks a day. His current foster doesn't have a fenced yard, but if they did, he’d likely only need a morning and evening walk, with a little playtime in the yard. Not good with: Given Moose’s interest in small backyard creatures, he’d likely not do well with cats or small dogs. He once lived with his older sister, but it's unclear if he’s had any other experience with dogs and he has not been tested with other dogs. Housetrained: Moose is completely housetrained. In fact, he seems to have an enormous bladder! Crate trained: Moose is re-learning to not fear a crate. Fence: Moose would do well with a fenced yard so he can freely play with his big indestructible ball and have plenty of safe space for sunbathing. Leash walking: Moose loves going for walks and he's been worked with quite a bit to mitigate his high prey drive. He’s learned a lot! He is walking at a heel, sitting whenever we stop walking, and beginning again with the “OK” command. He still needs work to keep from pulling when he sees a squirrel because he is very strong, but he’s getting better every day at staying more focused when he gets distracted. Hot dogs are a big motivator! Medical issues: Moose had a corneal ulcer resulting from an errant eyelash. It has healed completely. He will be checked again in two months to make sure it hasn’t returned. While initially underweight, Moose is now at a good weight of 104. The best home for Moose: Moose would do best in a home where people are home most of the day. He is an excellent work-from-home companion and really likes to be with people as much as possible. He would be great with older kids to snuggle and play with and with dog parents who can patiently continue to work on training. He is such a good boy and wants so much to have a home with people he can love. Moose is a dog with incredible potential and so deserving of a forever home.Click here to watch a video of Moose.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
