Story
Meet Carter. This adorable little Poodle pup was found as a stray and taken in by a Good Samaritan who reached out to our rescue for help. He was unneutered and treated for ear infections and a UTI, but is otherwise a healthy boy. His coat was unkempt, but after a full groom, his fluffy white coat looks healthy and full again. Carter is currently being fostered by Hannah alongside her two small senior dogs. Hannah reports that he’s doing well. Like many dogs, he needed a bit of time to settle in and figure out his place in the pack. He’s more dominant than submissive in the pack, and was initially a little protective around affection and toys, but once he adjusted and was neutered, he relaxed significantly. Hannah describes Carter as confident, cuddly, and very affectionate. He’s definitely a people-lover and wants to be right by your side. He snuggles up in bed with Hannah at night and is social and sweet with everyone he meets. He has been around young kids, Hannah’s six-year-old nephew, and Carter was comfortable, just a bit jumpy with excitement. For that reason, he’s likely best suited for families with children 7+. Carter is housetrained and crate-trained, and Hannah crates him when she leaves the house for work. He’s not a huge fan of the crate, but if left out unattended, he is more stressed. We recommend crating him initially. He does settle in, but an adopter with a flexible schedule would be ideal. He needs time to settle in and trust his new environment. He would do well as an only dog or with a mellow resident dog that matches his energy level. Hannah walks Carter at least once a day and says his leash skills are solid; he pulls a little, but overall does well and enjoys his walks. He also rides nicely in the car and would love to go places and join his new family on adventures. Carter will be coming to the DC metro area on 12/6. Apply today to welcome him home! BREED ESTIMATE: Miniature Poodle GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  17 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 3 to 4 years old COAT TYPE: Fluffy Coat that requires regular grooming ADOPTION FEE: $425.00 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neuterd/microchipped LOCATION: Charlotte, NC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue that primarily adopts to families in the DC Metro area. November 28, 2025, 6:18 pm

Story
Miley is an adorable 6-year-old, 12-pound Poodle-Coton de Tulear mix in need of a forever home.  Miley is in search of a quiet home with a securely fenced yard. At first Miley had no idea how to walk on a leash, but in only two weeks, she has mastered leash walking but can easily be scared by moving cars and loud noises. She is scared of children and their sudden movements, so a home without littles is ideal.  She is not aggressive at all.  Miley is mostly house trained and is doing very well with routine and positive reinforcement. Miley prefers a home where she won't be crated but having a crate open and available for her is perfect.  Miley is fostered with another pup; however, she may prefer to be your one and only spoiled girl or, if another pup, would need to be low energy.  Miley prefers women to men but opens up to anyone for ear scratches and belly rubs. Miley is treat motivated, loves the fenced yard and is wonderfully quiet!  Miley is fostered in northern VA and would love a forever home for holidays!  Can you help us? Please email adoptme@cockerspanielrescue.com to learn more on adopting Miley. Thank you! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 4, 2025, 1:36 pm

She has been a sweet, loyal companion for years and has the gentlest temperament. Due to recent financial changes, we can’t provide the medical care she deserves. She would thrive in a quiet, loving home that can give her consistent attention and support.

Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet shy girl seeking love and safety!MARTINA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Martina and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Dec. 7th) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria, VA (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!   Name: Martina       Best Guess for Breed:  Poodle mix  Best Guess for Age:  4 years as of June 2025         SEX:  Female    Approximate Weight: 38 lbs.   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living At: DC area foster     Check out the story of Martina and Lilly Ann Here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DRPeiE8Ecff/     What My Foster Says About Me: Martina is shy at first but very curious about humans and longs to cuddle with you on the couch or in bed. Like her sister, Lilly Ann, she had a traumatic past but Martina is the braver of the duo, and brings Lilly Ann out of her shell. After only a few days in foster, Martina was snuggling our dogs on the bed and coming up to me on the couch to be pet and praised. Martina was a very scared dog when she came into our care but gets confidence from her sister Lilly Ann and they are available to adopt as a duo! Martina does well in the house, shares food and toys well and enjoys other dogs. She walks well on leash, though needs a backyard to play in as well.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.    Special adoption considerations:   Martina was rescued from a breeding operation that is shutting its doors.  She has not been well socialized with new people and has lived her whole life with other dogs.  New nosies, cars, bikes, and other things may create fear and anxiety.  She will need a patient adopter who can give her time to come out of their shell and learn that the world is a wonderful and welcoming place.Because she is shy, she must go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes. The home must have a fenced yard. She can be adopted with her sister Lilly Ann as well, but it is not required.   Martina is Looking For: Her forever home, filled with snuggles and opportunities to see the world outside of a kennel. One where she is a cherished part of a family. She's very sweet, shy, and SO ready to be a Real Dog.    Martina thrives in a quiet home with a routine. Extra patient and loving humans who introduce her to new places and people at her pace and a welcoming resident dog who will show her how to dog are high on her wish list! Along with quality kibble, a cushy dog bed, and endless snuggles.    You know what you get out of adopting a dog like that? An incredibly sweet and grateful dog who gives you all those adoring gazes, all the love and loyalty in her body, for all her days. What do you say? Is she the one for you? Are you her new chapter and forever home? TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Meet Eli!  This handsome guy was rescued along with his daughter, Bella, from the working life of dogs that belonged to a breeder.  To this man all the dogs were simply property.  Eli spent 10 years living life in a crate only being handled when he was 'needed'.  You would never know this sweet boy merely existed.  He shows none of the scars you would expect him to have.  Eli is a very sweet and loving southern gentleman who is slowly learning to live life as a pet.  He is adjusting to fresh air and grass.  Both of which were a truly new experience for him.  He began going outside only because he wanted to stay near his foster mom.  Now he happily walks around the yard and joins Bella and his other foster brothers and sisters for a little sunshine.  Eli is a very smart boy and is already housebroken.  He is also doing a great job walking on a leash.  Eli's favorite place is either in the chair curled up or louging on the back of the chair.  He is able to see everything from that perch.  Eli is ready to find his forever home.  He has plenty of years let to enjoy the good things that life has to offer.  He is looking for a quiet home full of patience and understanding.  He needs a family that will be there for him but allow him to adjust and blossom and his own pace.  You won't be sorry if you add this gentleman to your family.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application. please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Eli is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  No small children.  October 13, 2025, 5:11 pm
