Story
Meet Cassie.  This pretty, flowy-coated pup was picked up as a stray roaming rural SC. She was fostered initially in a busy household with a mom, dad, 10-year-old boy, two dogs, and two cats, and she acclimated well. She is currently in a local foster home with two dogs, and loves being part of a pack, both human and canine.  Cassie has proven to be a sweet, affectionate, and playful pup. While she can be shy when meeting new people or experiencing new environments, once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through. She adores being close to her people, follows her foster family around the house, and is happiest snuggled up nearby with a toy-pile all her own. Cassie is very dog-friendly and integrated easily with the other dogs. She has also met neighbor dogs and visiting dogs and done well with everyone. She would thrive in a home with another playful, confident dog buddy to help continue building her confidence. She loves running and playing in the yard, wrestling with dog friends, and hanging out with her pack. Her foster mom says she settles much more comfortably when another dog is nearby, even happily relaxing quietly in her crate alongside a canine companion.  She is an active young dog who playful when it’s time for fun, but also content to cuddle and relax inside. Cassie is progressing with house training, and her foster mom is slowly introducing the crate using short periods of time paired with tasty treats to help make it a positive experience. It’s still a work in progress, as Cassie is likely to bark, but she's not to the point where she can be fully trusted loose and unattended for long periods. Thankfully, her foster mom works from home, so a home with a flexible schedule or someone around more often would likely be the best fit for her. She is also improving nicely with leash walking and becoming more confident over time. Loud noises like trucks, lawn equipment, and heavy traffic can still make her nervous, so she’ll need a patient adopter who understands she’s still learning that the world is safe. Cassie has done well around the cats in her foster home, though she is cautious and respectful around them. She adores the son in her foster home, but loud children outside the home can make her nervous. She just needs a little time and reassurance. Once she trusts you, she is incredibly sweet, loyal, and affectionate. Like many young pups, Cassie loves toys and chews and may occasionally “borrow” socks, shoes, or remotes if left unattended. She needs an adopter who understands she's still young and not fully trustworthy and will give her the structure she needs.  Cassie is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds with her people and dog friends. With patience, structure, and love, she is going to make an incredibly devoted companion.  One important note: Cassie can be a bit of a Houdini in a new environment and may look for gaps in fences if given the opportunity, so a secure fenced yard with no escape points is a must. Story
9 years, 11 lbs Personality: affectionate, outgoing, snuggler, adaptable, easygoing. Meet Piper, a cuddly little bundle of soft-spoken canine companionship with big soft eyes. This sweet older gal enjoys a couple of leisurely walks every day with her human, as well as some yard time for sun and sniffs. She’s easygoing and accustomed to going on walks with her foster’s resident dogs, a terrier and a greyhound. She walks with a pep in her step, and is often mistaken for a younger dog! At home, she has a great time playing with her soft stuffed dog toys and greeting any guests with a sniff and little jump, putting her front paws on their legs. Piper is crate trained and is working on house training. She’s also still learning her name as well as the words “come here” and “down.” She gets along wonderfully with her foster’s 8-year-old daughter, with whom she enjoys walking to and from school. Piper is a proper snuggle bug who loves to be carried around like a football. She’s quite adaptable and takes in stride everything that life with an energetic schoolgirl and two other dogs throws her way. Story
Just look at that smile! The little guy grinning from ear to ear is aptly named Happy Man, and honestly, we've never met a dog who wears his name more proudly. This charming young Miniature Poodle wakes up every day ready to share his joy with everyone around him. His tail wags with enthusiasm, his eyes sparkle with happiness, and his smile says it all. Happy Man's journey to Critter Cavalry Rescue began with heartbreak. When his beloved owner passed away, he and another dog were left alone in the home. Kind people made sure they were fed while a dedicated rescuer searched for help. Thankfully, Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in, and this precious little boy was given a second chance at the future he deserves. At only 18 months old and weighing about 10 pounds, Happy Man has settled beautifully into foster care. There he received everything he needed to start fresh: a complete veterinary examination, neuter surgery, vaccinations, heartworm testing, fecal testing, a microchip, and all the loving care he could handle. He passed every health check with flying colors and is now eagerly waiting to find out where life will take him next. And what a wonderful life companion he will be. Happy Man is smart, affectionate, playful, and full of personality. He loves people and thrives on companionship. Like many young dogs, he is still learning a few things. He is almost housebroken and will need a family willing to establish a consistent outdoor potty routine. His elderly owner relied primarily on pee pads, so he simply needs a little guidance and patience as he learns new habits. The truth is that rescue dogs don't always arrive perfectly trained. They carry the effects of the lives they've lived before. But what matters most is who they are at heart—and Happy Man's heart is pure gold. If you're searching for a young dog who is healthy, intelligent, loving, and guaranteed to brighten your days, this little star deserves your attention. He has overcome loss, embraced a new beginning, and never lost his joyful spirit. Some dogs come into your life and make you smile. Happy Man is the kind of dog who makes you smile every single day. Could you be the lucky family he has been waiting for?   Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 8, 2026, 6:33 pm
