Story
Meet Smokey – Your Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold Smokey is an 8-year-old, 65 lb Mountain Cur/Hound mix who is searching for a soft, loving place to land and a forever family to call his own. This sweet boy is the definition of gentle—calm, affectionate, and endlessly kind. If Smokey had his way, he’d happily be a 65-pound lap dog, soaking up every bit of love you’re willing to give. Smokey is housebroken, social, and gets along beautifully with other dogs. He has an easygoing nature and a tender soul that makes him a joy to have around. Whether it’s quietly keeping you company or leaning in for affection, Smokey’s presence is comforting and full of love. Smokey is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which the rescue will continue to fully cover. Once treatment is complete, he is expected to have no ongoing medical issues related to it—just many happy, healthy years ahead. This boy is truly a gem—sweet, loyal, and ready to give his whole heart to a family who will cherish him. If you’re looking for a loving companion with a calm spirit and a huge heart, please don’t pass Smokey by. Dogs like him don’t come around often. Smokey is ready for his happily ever after—could it be with you   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
Meet Brewer! He is a 4 year old, approximately 55lb Black Mouth Cur/Lab Mix (as far as we can tell). Brewer is a loyal lover who enjoys cuddles and long walks. He has a lot of energy and needs a big yard and owner(s) that can be as active as him. Unfortunately, with my long hours at work, I have been unable to provide him with the environment he needs to thrive. He has been with me since Jan 2025 and has really been a great companion. He is crate and house trained. He can escape his crate if not locked properly. He is also good with kids (have only seen him with kids 5 and over) and other dogs. He keeps to himself at the dog park, but plays well with others. He does struggle with bone & toy aggression with other dogs because they are a couple of his favorite things, but for the most part will drop it for his human friends. He currently spends evenings taking walks and then lounging on the couch after long days in his crate. If you can provide Brewer with the space to run, no more than 8 hours a day crated and lots of hugs and kisses, he will be your most loyal loving companion. If you would like to meet this dog, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Luke is so endearing with his sweet personality and cute underbite! He is approximately 6-7 years old and weighs between 40-15lbs. Good with other dogs and people, but no cats for this boy.  Foster Home Update:   Luke is one cool dude with a quirky grin. He gets super excited to go for a walk to explore the neighborhood and walks nice on his leash. He gets along with the resident dog and enjoys playing with toys with his foster Mom. (He can 'catch' quite well!)  Luke can be trusted alone in the home but, would rather not be away from his person and will 'howl' to let everyone know he misses you! Because he is vocal, he would not be suited for an attached resident such as apartment, condo or townhome. He will make someone a great 'velcro' companion!    We always recommend training for all our dogs!    **Breed or size (once fully grown) is a 'best guess' and is not guaranteed since they arrived into rescue without either parent. **Magnificent Mutts is an all foster home based rescue and meets are held by appointment with the entire family in attendance. Please ensure your current pets are up to date with vetting, have landlord/HOA approval and are prepared to take your new family member home at the adoption appointment.  Thank you for your interest!                    If you are interested in adoption, please complete the "Application to Adopt" which can be accessed from this link: (   www.magnificentmutts.org )  No phone calls please, emails only. Adoption donations range between $360-$400 (cash only), unless otherwise noted. Prices are subject to change, please contact for specific adoption donation. Please visit www.magnificentmutts.org for the online dog application. May 31, 2026, 4:43 pm
