Story
FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60625 ESTIMATED DOB: 04/2015 WEIGHT: 47lbs KIDS: Likely DOGS: Yes CATS: No HISTORY: Josie came to us from a rural Louisiana shelter. She came to us with Frito Pie when their owner passed away and the neighbor paid for boarding until they could find a shelter to take them. Josie was getting very depressed at the shelter. ABOUT: Josie is a very sweet and well behaved girl. She has excellent house manners and is housetrained and does not need to be crated while you are gone. She is happy to lounge on dog beds or the couch waiting for you to return. Josie has a very understated, calm personality. She is never boisterous or hyper. She is not fearful or shy, but she doesn’t run right up to visitors. She likes to take a few minutes to take them in before quietly walking over to see if they are interested in petting her. Josie has few demands of her people, but if you sit on the couch, she will hop up next to you and gently paw at you for attention, and prefers you never stop. If you ignore her for a few minutes she will walk to the other end of the couch and curl up for a nap. Josie does not bark just to hear herself or get attention, but she is good at alert barking to people lingering on the sidewalk, or walking through the alley. She will also occasionally join in if the dogs in the neighborhood are discussing something important. Josie has a fenced yard in her foster home, but she enjoys walks and is very easy to walk on leash. Josie enjoys walks and is excellent on leash. She also enjoys stuffed toys and will carry them around for a while before disemboweling them. Josie is also very stoic and although she doesn’t love things like baths and nail trims, she takes it like a champ without much protest. Josie is fostered with large and small breed dogs and is respectful and kind. She mostly keeps to herself and isn’t bothered when new fosters arrive and old fosters leave. She is very comfortable with other dogs around, but she doesn’t interact much and would very easily be just as happy as an only dog. Josie has a prey drive for rabbits and squirrels so she would not be appropriate for homes with cats or other small animals. Josie is not being fostered with children, but she has a very sweet, gentle personality. She would likely do well with calm or mature children as she wouldn’t be a huge fan of constant chaos and commotion or rough housing. Josie has completed the injections for heartworm treatment. She will need one final test to confirm it was successful in June of 2024. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.

Story
Hello there, I'm Toby. I'm still quite young, and everything around me feels so new and big. It's a little overwhelming, I won't lie. I'm curious about the world, but it can be a bit scary. I tend to be a little shy at first, you see. I need some time to understand that everything is safe. But once I do, I promise you, I'm the most loyal friend you'll ever have. I'm learning new things every day, and I'm eager to explore more - but I need a loving home for that. My friend at the shelter Eleanor said she will be involved to help me find a perfect fit! Adopt me, and let's discover the world together. Email Dogs@southsuburbanhumane.org with any inquiries!

Story
Rancher is a shy young man who needs a special home. He loves other dogs, and tends to perk up around furry friends. Maybe because of his time spent outside, or his new leash on life since being at the shelter, Rancher is very interested in his surroundings. He can be skittish and distracted, but with some TLC and decompression time he is the sweetest friend. If you're interested in Rancher the ranger, email Dogs@southsuburbanhumane.org to set up a Meet and Greet.
