Story
Maia is a beautiful, affectionate 5-year-old mixed breed (likely Collie/Australian Shepherd mix) we have loved since adopting her as a puppy. She is loyal, intelligent, and deeply bonded to her people, and thrives with attention, routine, and companionship. As our family has grown and our home has become busy with young children and frequent visitors, we’ve realized this environment is not the right fit for Maia. She becomes very excitable around guests and struggles to settle, and she is not comfortable in a high-energy, child-focused household. We believe Maia would be happiest in a calm, adult-only home with experienced dog owners who can give her consistent structure and time. She is healthy, well cared for, and this difficult decision has been made entirely with her wellbeing in mind. We are committed to finding her a loving, lasting home and supporting a smooth transition.

Story
Meet Canelo 🧡 (4 years old) Canelo is a sweet, soulful four-year-old mixed-breed boy with the kindest eyes and a heart to match. He’s affectionate, loyal, and loves being close to his people — whether that’s relaxing at home or going for a nice walk. He gets along well with other animals and children, making him a great fit for a family home. Canelo is fully grown, strong, and confident, but also gentle and attentive. He does best with structure, routine, and positive reinforcement, and once he bonds with you, he’s incredibly devoted. Canelo would thrive in a home that’s looking for a loving, loyal companion and is ready to welcome him as part of the family. He’s searching for a forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and truly belong. If you’re looking for a dog who will look at you like you’re his whole world — Canelo is your guy.

Story
We found Lucy goosey on a side street by our home in 2020. By the looks of it she was nursing at the time she was found.Took her to the shelter and adopted her within a week. Lucy is such a sweet girl. In 2024 we had a baby and have another dog. Although she does well with the baby, having two dogs is super stressful for me. Walking, feeding and grooming both dogs with the baby has been really overwhelming. Daily coat and teeth brushing, walking twice a day and keeping her active is just impossible for me at the moment. Lucy is a butterball of silliness and loves to cuddle even if you don’t want to lol! She’s estimated 6 years old.We love her so much.

Please reach out to us directly using the contact information on our website: www.muddypawsrescue.org. Hello! My name is Gretchen. I'm a native New Yorker; I was adopted from the ASPCA when I was a puppy, and lived with my family until about a month ago when my parent got sick and couldn't care for me anymore. I miss them so much, and I’m still unsettled, but I still have a lot of love to give to my new family! I’ve been in two foster situations since early January. With the first one, I met her boyfriend and her sister. We lived in a studio, which I liked because I could see my foster mom at all times. With the second home, I lived with 3 people. I love meeting people, but I need a second to see if I can trust you. If you give me belly rubs or let me lie across you on the couch, you’re great in my book. I’m quite spooked by other dogs and am reactive. I’m open to training, but my foster parents must be diligent, and I’ll probably do best without dogs around, at least for the foreseeable future. While I’ve enjoyed playing outside in the snow and like to run on leash, ultimately, I am a total homebody, so being back in an apartment with my blankie and humans is amazing. I don't mind staying home alone either! I'll keep the couch warm for you. I want to trust and feel confident, but the only family I’ve known isn't in my life anymore and I’m a bit confused. Don't call me an old dog yet; I'm still strong and sassy and smart! I have a lot of life left in me, and if you're willing to be loyal to me, I'll be the most faithful family member you've ever had.

I'm a big-hearted goofball and I love everyone that I meet! Please be my forever best friend!!" — Coconut Coco is just an absolute gem. Lovable, cuddly, and sweet—everyone she meets immediately loves her and people will stop me on the street just to say hi. She loves long walks and exploring her neighborhood (sometimes hard to get her to come back inside, but once she’s tired out and in she turns into a complete couch potato!). She really loves the outdoors, whether its rolling around in the grass or just people watching in the park, Coconut could spend her entire day outside. She's also a big fan of belly rubs, a nice bone to chew or a toy to chase around and maybe even shred if she's lucky. She behaves very well on walks, with some light pulling which has improved a ton with her new double leash. She also generally does not get distracted by other dogs or noises on walks (but is always on the lookout for squirrels!). Coconut is a good listener, a best friend and a fun loving spirit. I really can’t say enough good things about this girl. Coco will thrive in a home with a steady routine, access to outdoor space, and a lot of love and laughs!
