**Foster Update** "Slim Spice is settling in so well; it only took her about 2 days to adjust to her foster home. We are working on 'sit' and she is almost completely house-broken. She walks on the leash great and she crates perfect." ✨ Meet Slim Spice! ✨ Slim Spice’s story is one of survival and second chances. She was originally found as a stray on September 9th, severely underweight and suffering from an eye condition. Terrified and shut down, she was brought to an overcrowded, underfunded city shelter—the only open-intake shelter in the area. Like many dogs in that system, Slim Spice was given a “timestamp,” meaning she had a deadline for adoption or rescue. With over 100 dogs surrendered in just three and a half days, space quickly ran out, and Slim Spice was at risk of euthanasia. Luckily, a foster stepped up just hours before her scheduled euthanasia, giving her the chance at life she so deeply deserves. Now safe with us, Slim Spice is slowly learning that people can be kind and that she is finally safe. She will need surgery to correct her cherry eye, time to put on healthy weight, and patience while she rebuilds her confidence. Despite her rough past, she is incredibly sweet, gentle, and friendly with both people and other dogs. Slim Spice will thrive in a home that can give her love, patience, and stability while she continues to heal. While not a full low rider - shes more of a mid-rider - she is the perfect size to snuggle next to you for pets and wont take up much space on your couch. She loves to give kisses as much as she loves to receive butt skritches. Zippy is doing well with house training and being in the crate. Shes learning to walk on a leash, but as with all hounds, loves to follow her nose and sniff every area. She will try to pull a little, but is good about coming back close to you. Zippy loves all people and dogs she meets. She plays well with other dogs and enjoys a good game of tug and zoomies around the yard. Bones are also her favorite and will occupy her time. Unfortunately Zippy does not do well with cats so no feline homes for her. She does get a little mouthy when playing so supervision with the young ones is required. We are working on redirecting that energy. Zippy is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations, as well as on monthly preventatives. Meet Fable: Fable is a one year old (as of October 2024) plott hound mix (best guess) that weighs 36 pounds. This rootin tootin cowboy litter of 3 (Farley, Farris and Fable) are sure to steal some hearts! These cuties were found abandoned in a rural area and luckily made it to our rescue. Fable is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Fable is a sweet, playful handsome boy that is looking for his very own family! To put it simply, Fable is a big love bug! He just wants to be with his person and that’s what makes him happiest! Fable loves playing with toys and exploring around the dog yard. In the play yard he avoids rough play with the other foster dogs and likes to hang with the easy going ones. Fable has a gentle spirit and lots of love to give! Fable is working on his house training. We would love for Fable to have a home with a fenced in yard for him to run and play freely!
