Story
Meet Luna! This gorgeous girl was adopted as a four-month-old puppy and had some early training, but unfortunately, her family didn’t continue the structure and training she needed as she matured. Luna is a sensitive, intelligent dog who needs leadership and an engaged environment. Without it, she became anxious and overstimulated and had some guarding issues around the other dog in the home. When we first met Luna, she was heavily medicated. Her owners had consulted a behaviorist who prescribed multiple high-dose anti-anxiety medications, but the problems persisted. We connected them with Brittany, one of our trusted trainers, and recommended a behavioral board-and-train program. Brittany requires all her client dogs to be off medication before training, to address behavior at the root. We’re thrilled to share that Luna is now completely off medication and thriving. She’s thinking clearly, has rediscovered how to be a dog, and continues to progress each day. Despite Luna’s significant improvement, her family ultimately chose to rehome her, feeling they couldn’t meet her needs. Brittany immediately stepped up, offering to foster Luna and continue her training. Luna now lives with Brittany, her husband, and their pack of four dogs, and she’s doing beautifully. About Luna: Luna is affectionate, fun, and full of life. She’s also an active dog with moderate drive. She loves to learn and likes having a job or goals to keep life interesting. She’s not a couch potato; she needs both physical activity and mental stimulation, and does best with an experienced owner who will continue setting clear boundaries. Luna loves: *&#239&#184&#143&#226&#131&#163Training work and learning new skills *&#239&#184&#143&#226&#131&#163Playing ball and frisbee *&#239&#184&#143&#226&#131&#163Walks, hikes, patio outings, and off-leash runs and swimming in the local creek She’s great with people of all ages, but we think a home with older kids would be best. While she has solid social skills with other dogs, she would thrive as an only dog or paired with the right laid-back companion. Her current foster home includes a balanced pack, which has helped her, but resource and hierarchy issues mean it needs to be the right match. Luna has received extensive training and knows commands including: Sit, Down, Heel, Come, Stay, Place, Up Up, Out, Touch, and more. Her adoption includes two private training sessions with Brittany to support her transition and lifetime discounted lessons. Luna is looking for a home that understands her needs, is ready to keep her engaged, and wants to build a deep, rewarding bond with a smart, active girl. If you think you could be the perfect match, or know someone who might be, please reach out or apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Pointer/Staffy Mix GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  63 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 3 years old COAT TYPE: Short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/spayed/microchipped LOCATION: Frederick, MD   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. Story
Some friendships are forged on playgrounds, others in cubicles or coffee shops. But Shamrock and Lucky? Their friendship bloomed in the quiet corners of a rural vet’s office, where two abandoned dogs found comfort in each other while they waited for someone -- anyone -- to remember they mattered.Shamrock is a 4-year-old hound with a heart like a lullaby. She’s soft, subtle, sweet -- and she carries the wisdom of a mama who’s raised a crowd. She’s clearly had litters of her own, and when Lucky came along -- scared, unsure -- Shamrock took him under her velvet ear and made him feel safe. Her big brown eyes don’t just look at you... they settle on you gently, like a blessing, and somehow make you feel a little more whole than you did a moment ago.Lucky, a 3-year-old Pointer mix, did some rescuing of his own. He brought Shamrock out of her shell, gently nudging her toward the humans who wanted so badly to help. He taught her about the joy of squeaky toys, the bliss of zooming in the sun, and the art of leaning in -- literally and figuratively -- for a good snuggle. They’re not a bonded pair, not in the formal sense. They’ll miss each other, sure, but they’ll each thrive in a home of their own, maybe with other dogs to love and guide. Still, if you’ve got room in your home and heart for two friends who’ve already done the hard work of loving each other? They wouldn’t mind staying co-stars in the next chapter.Come meet Shamrock and Lucky at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton. We’re open every day, including weekends and holidays, from 9am to noon.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
DUKE IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO VA ONCE HE IS ADOPTED! Meet Duke!  This gentle guy will steal your heart quick! Duke loves to follow you every where and just be with his people. His tail is constantly wagging. He is eager to meet everyone he meets. He is a fan of giving kisses! He is also quite the looker- check out those amazing eyes. He is a 2 year old mixed breed pup. He weighs about 60lbs. Duke is good with other dogs, cats, and children. Duke does well by himself, but loves to play with his other foster dog siblings. Duke is potty trained, crate trained, knows how to sit (and is working on other commands), is content to play with himself, sleep on the floor next to you, or head out on an adventure. Duke rides well in the car. He walks great on a leash. He’s attentive, smart, and so sweet. He would make the perfect addition to any home or lifestyle. He’s a 10/10 perfect dog! Is he your new best friend? Duke is fully vetted- to include being neutered, having all shots, and on heart worm and flea tick prevention. Duke's adoption fee of $600 includes the transport to VA. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Duke up north to his new family.       If you have any questions, please email us at:  newbeginnings_animalrescue@yahoo.com .   You can apply to adopt here:   http://www.newbeginningsanimalrescue.net     THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING A RESCUED PET! Story
I acquired Lola through SPCA shelter. She is around 6 years old. She likes to go outside a lot, sometimes just in and out, or stay longer for sunbathing . She doesn't care for long walks, but she does still love them. Lola is a good girl. She is very calm, good with people, good with shower, grooming, cutting nails. She likes to walk but not long. I am Ukrainian and want to move back to Ukraine. I can't take care of her anymore. I love her so much, but I can't bring her with me. I can provide all things she would need for the beginning: like dog bowls, collar, pillow, sofa she likes to sleep on and more. Just want her to be in a good home.

Story
Meet Jill — part puppy, part spotted tornado, and 100% heart-stealer. With her eye-catching Dalmatian spots, she gets compliments everywhere she goes. Jill’s favorite pastimes include receiving belly rubs, chasing toys, and hunting for snacks. This curious little explorer is in the business of putting everything in her mouth and turning everyday objects into grand adventures. She plays hard, loves hard, and naps even harder—usually after a solid session of zoomies or brain games. Jill is sweet, affectionate, and always down to cuddle once she’s burned off some puppy energy. She handles alone time like a champ and gets along with other dogs and even cats. She's the total package wrapped in spots. She’s looking for a home with someone who can keep up with her playful spirit, keep her learning, and give her love (and snacks). She would love a canine companion and would be great with kids. If you’re ready for a life filled with laughter, tail wags, and the occasional shoe rescue mission, Jill is your girl. Adopt her today—you bring the treats, she’ll bring the joy. Adopters have 30 days of free access to 1-on-1 text and email support from trainers at Petcademy to help make every pet's transition into their new home as smooth as possible. All dogs available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and are current on all vaccinations. Please email dogs@henricohumane.org for more information.
