Story
Meet Aphrodite: Goddess of Love, Snacks, and Belly Rubs 💘🐾 Aphrodite is a 2-year-old, 35-pound mixed breed beauty who looks like she was hand-painted by the dog gods themselves; white and brown speckles, rich chocolate patches, and those chef’s kiss tick marks. She’s basically a living piece of modern art that also happens to wag her tail at you. Aphrodite has a wonderful disposition and truly has never met a stranger. She adores every dog she meets – even the ones that snark at her. She knows she will win them over. If you have another dog that likes to play, Aphrodite would be a perfect playmate and companion. Right now, she’s a little on the skinny side, but don’t worry... she’s fully committed to bulking season and is accepting all snack donations in the form of treats, cheese, or whatever you “accidentally” drop on the floor. Aphrodite’s hobbies include loving everyone she meets, collecting compliments, and daydreaming about her forever home—a place where she can finally unpack her squeaky toys, fill out her figure, and never have to wonder where she belongs again. Bring this goddess home and prepare to fall hopelessly in love. Questions About this Animal? Please email hart90office@gmail.com View My Profile: https://new.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/HRT-A-595

Story
Come meet me during our events Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM at the Homeward Trails Manny Law Adoption Center, 11116 Fairfax Station Rd, Fairfax Station, VA. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: adoptioncenter@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Adoption Center ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Adoption Center ADOPTION FEE: WAIVED! I'M PART OF THE REWARDS PROGRAM AND MY ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED. WE WILL ALSO PAY MY FOSTER OR ADOPTER $500. HT has a number of dogs that need very special homes. These dogs have been failed by humans along the way, leaving them homeless and with issues from their treatment. We'll be honest. Some of them are real jerks. But not always. And not to everyone. Not everyone can be charming ALL the time, right? Others are just fearful and don't like other animals because they have had a bad interaction at some point. Some of them love other dogs but are just plain scared of everything. But all of them are good on the inside. And we believe that ALL of them deserve a chance at life and love. And we're looking to find the right human out there to make that happen. But competition is tough. And they're up against small, well-behaved doggies...so we are offering incentives for special humans willing to give these pooches a chance. WE WANT YOU! ***We are paying $500 to any approved foster or adopter of our REWARDS dogs.*** The human will also get ongoing training support, all supplies covered and a $25 Amazon gift card each month for 6 months. You will learn and grow. You will be doing a world of good for a dog who has really had it rough in life. ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 45 lbs. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Domino prefers playing with dogs who don't play too hard and respect when he gives them signals, or spending solo time with his human friends. KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not currently know how they are with cats. If that is needed, let us know and we'll work on getting that information! KNOWN WITH KIDS: We think Domino would do better in a home with older children or adults. KNOWN CUES: Paw, Sit, Down, working on Spin, Crawl, and Touch. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Domino goes into and rests in his crate fine at the Adoption Center though he was more concerned about it in a home environment. He also seems to be housebroken. KNOWN LIKES: Sniffing, attention from friends who move at his speed, fetch, toys, treats. KNOWN DISLIKES: People who move too quickly, loud noises, being alone. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: What impact does the domino effect have on you? Exercise caution, as you might find yourself entranced just as I was. From the very first moment I encountered Domino, I was utterly captivated by him. We spent a delightful afternoon together, lounging on the sofa while I attended to my work. Domino made numerous attempts to assist me; he would perch on my lap and gaze at the computer screen. On occasion, he even attempted to type for me. Although his contributions may not have aligned with my needs, his efforts were nonetheless appreciated. You may wonder where his happy place is, and that is hanging out with his favorite people, moving at his speed. When he adores you, he loves putting himself in your space and receiving attention, but sometimes too much love can be overwhelming for Domino, so he prefers his attention in small bursts. Domino has a fondness for treats and enjoys being in the company of people. He doesn't mind being around dogs, provided they respect his cues when he is ready to conclude playtime. He relishes short cuddles, play sessions with toys, and leisurely walks in tranquil environments. Although he may initially feel anxious when meeting new individuals, he quickly warms up, and once he gets to know you, he wants to spend all his time by your side and would prefer a home with constant human companionship. So, I pose the question once more: What effect does the domino effect have on you? I invite you to visit the adoption center to meet him and discover for yourself what an extraordinary and lovable companion he truly is. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital, Union Veterinary Clinic and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.

Story
Meet Bubba! Rescued from a high-kill shelter, this is a big, lovable, playful guy who could be the newest companion to your pack!  With soulful eyes and a tail that wags for days, this four-year-old darling is a sweetheart who just wants to find and be with his people.  He is very house-trained, working on being crate-trained (going well), knows his name, “sit" and “down," and is non-destructive when left alone. Bubba is a polite house guest. He doesn’t bark at dogs or people as they walk by, both when he’s in the house or whenever out on walks.  Attentive and affectionate, Bubba is happiest on walks or runs, playing in the yard, chewing on his toys and lounging on the couch with his people. He is a big lap dog who loves to show love and get love in return. Though he is large, he is well-behaved enough for an apartment, as long as he gets enough exercise. But if he had his preference he would love a bit of yard to go along with his walks. (And he is always down for a walk!) He is an active guy who will walk/run/play hard and nap hard. He loves to romp around in the yard, sniff everything, play fetch, and has shown to be interested but not aggressive toward wildlife. He is eager to please, food motivated (good for training) and is a champ in the car. He responds well with firm/calm direction but also handles the noise of (a lot of) kids, play and laughter with ease. Bubba needs a loving household and a person/family who will continue to train him and treat him kindly. Bubba would be happy as your only dog or with another playful dog or dogs. He has socialized well with other medium and large dogs. He shows no food aggression or resource guarding. He would do well with younger and older kids alike. He isn’t totally aware of his size but will remind you of it when he gets excited, pushes into you for attention or play or when he lays on you for cuddles. With his loving and playful heart, Bubba is ready to find a forever family who will love him. Adoption fee: $525, includes all shots, sterilized, heartworm negative, dewormed, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. Story
Please contact Jodi Rosenberg (jodi.rosenberg@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ready to play! PORKY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Porky and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (1/11) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Kensington (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!   Name:  Porky         Best Guess for Breed:  Pointer and Boston terrier mix Best Guess for Age:  5 months as of December 2025       SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight - he is still growing!:  15 lbs as of 12/23/25   Gets Along With:  Porky spent his first night in D.C. foster care with a dog and cat and loved them both!! We haven't seen them kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:  Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Porky is Looking For:  His forever home! He's at the tail end of puppyhood and has got all that awesome young-dog energy. He's eager for romps and playtime and all the adventures his new humans can dream up. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed - yes, those too! But you know what he wants most of all? To know where he belongs, to be safe and loved. Porky has so much to give to his humans - adoring gazes, love, and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him trotting down there by your side? (He says a name change would be just peachy too!) What My Foster Says About Me: Porky is pure happiness wrapped up in a puppy.  From the moment he stepped off the transport van, he was all tail wags and joy, thrilled to meet every single dog and person, as if he’d been waiting his whole life to make new friends. His first night in foster care went great! He met our large resident dog and immediately showed off his excellent manners with happy wiggles, playful bows, and sweet little requests to play—then promptly decided she was his new best friend. He happily followed her around everywhere, bouncing along behind her and occasionally popping up to jump on her like the most adorable little brother, clearly convinced she was put here just for him to play with. He also met our cat (the unquestioned boss of the house) and handled it like a pro, curious and interested, but gentle, respectful, and polite. With people, Porky is an absolute cuddle bug. He loves being close, soaking up attention, and receiving endless scratches. He’s doing surprisingly well on leash considering it's brand new to him, though he will occasionally request to be picked up—because he knows he’s cute, and yes, it usually works. He also traveled in the car like a pro! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Toffee is a 3.5–4-month-old, 20lb puppy, who’s all legs, sweetness, and curiosity. She’s a fun, gentle girl with a naturally shy side, but her confidence grows more each day as she learns about the world around her. She’s currently thriving in a busy foster home with two female resident dogs, three cats, and two teenagers ... she’s handling the everyday chaos beautifully. Toffee is doing great with both house-training and crate-training, and she absolutely loves playing with other dogs. Because Toffee takes cues from confident pups, she will do best in a home with a friendly, well-adjusted dog companion who can help show her the ropes. She’s still learning polite manners with cats (she’s more playful than they prefer), but she’s eager to please and making steady progress with guidance. Toffee is a loving, thoughtful puppy who will blossom in a patient home that can continue building her confidence and helping her shine. Story
Meet Doug — the sweet, slightly cowardly cutie who’s doing his best out here.Doug is a friendly, gentle-hearted pup who adores pets and will happily lean into you for some more. He already knows “sit” and is eager to keep learning, especially with a patient person cheering him on.When it comes to other dogs, Doug is… well, a little unsure. He’s curious and interested, but he prefers to take things slow and figure it out at his own pace. With time, reassurance, and some positive experiences, he’s ready to grow his confidence. If you’re looking for a lovable softie who just needs a kind hand and a cozy place to land, Doug is your guy. He may be a bit of a scaredy-dog now, but with you by his side, he’ll blossom into the brave, loyal companion he’s meant to be.
