Located in South Riding, VA Meet Bubba After spending almost 10 months in the shelter, Bubba is finally getting the chance to experience life in a home — and this handsome boy is off to a wonderful start. Bubba was understandably a little nervous when he arrived, but he has settled in quickly and sleeps quietly in his crate all night. He’s also had no accidents in the house and knows to do his business outside. He’s curious about his new surroundings and enjoys getting out for walks. His leash skills need a little polishing, but he just needs practice and direction. Bubba also prefers to enjoy his meals without other dogs nearby, so giving him his own space at mealtime is best. There’s still so much to learn about Bubba as he decompresses and discovers what life outside the shelter is all about. For now, we know he’s a sweet, curious boy who is adjusting beautifully and deserves the time to show everyone just how special he is. Bubba has waited a long time to find his forever family. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
