Story
Astro was a dedicated companion to our widowed mother till she died before Christmas this year. None of her children are able to adopt Astro and we are urgently trying to find him a forever home. Astro is a mellow old dude and a dedicated snuggler (he joined my mother on the couch each night and provided great company). He has been an indoor dog living in a condo with my mother for the past five years, so he is not accustomed to much more than some short walks around the neighborhood, making him suitable for another senior human companion. He was fiercely loyal and protective as a younger dog and was not good around other dogs, so it is probably best he would be the only pet in his adoptive home. He does fine around older children (her house was often filled with grandkids). Astro does have some food allergies (recent adjustments in his diet have helped alleviate the issues) and he has a heart murmur, but he is otherwise a healthy senior dog.

I'm 53lbs, and I am seeking my forever home! Adoption Donation: $450 Meet Mia! This sweet, friendly girl pointer/boxer mix has a warm and loving personality. Miz enjoys being around people and is happy to greet just about anyone she meets, making her a joy to have by your side. She does well with other dogs and with kids and would fit nicely into an active but balanced home. Mia has a bit of extra energy and enthusiasm, especially when meeting new people, but she settles well and enjoys both playtime and companionship. Mia is looking for a home that will appreciate her affectionate nature and give her the chance to continue growing into a confident, happy companion. In return, she’ll offer loyalty, love, and plenty of sweet moments. All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. An application is required to view our adoptable pets. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are not put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble.
