Story
We are an elderly couple in our mid-70s and received a wonderful mixed-breed rescue dog over four years ago — a dog we named Grover. Due to unexpected health issues and the fact that we frequently travel to New York City to visit our children and grandchildren, we unfortunately need to re-home Grover. We want to make sure he gets a good home. Originally rescued from Oklahoma 5 years ago. Grover is friendly, enjoys being petted, and loves to be outside and catch balls. He has herding instincts so appreciates space to run and take walks (he is good on the leash). He will protect the home and owner (he does not like unexpected/unknown visitors at the door, or delivery people.) He knows basic commands (sit, down, stay). He does not jump up onto furniture or steal food. He is a medium-sized dog, about 50 pounds, and is about 6 years old. Grover is up to date on all vaccinations and had his annual check-up in June. Grover would fit best in a single-dog home, or with female dogs. He is good with our grandchildren. Unfortunately, we aren't in a position to keep Grover and want him in a good home.

I weigh 44 lbs, and I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $500 All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble.
