Story
Lopez is a sweet boy who recently lost his owners due to their health issues, and ended up in the shelter after being found wandering as a stray. Poor boy, his world fell apart!  He's doing great in his current foster home, loving the other dogs. He is wary of new people who come into the home but warms up fairly well. He just completed his obedience training, so we are happy to report that he is doing better with new people!Lopez is a fun and affectionate boy hoping his next "forever home" will last forever! His ideal home would be a calm place, perhaps with a retired couple or a person without kids. He is good with other dogs, but prefers to be the only dog or to have a play buddy who is bigger than him. Lopez is house trained and despite being a senior dog, he is full of energy and doesn't have any health Issues.  Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. ~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~ Health: ***** Chico has CHF and will have to remain on medication to keep it in control. He is doing very well on the meds. No other  obvious health issues have been found during his last vet exam ***** Temperament: Meet Chico, a delightful Pomeranian with soft, slick red hair and a fluffy tail. Resembling a baby fox, Chico is small in stature and is both leash and crate trained. He enjoys car rides, cuddling on the couch, and is obedient, affectionate, and eager to please. Chico is an intelligent, even-tempered, and a gentle companion, with a goofy side that adds charm to his personality. It's important to note that Chico has a heart issue requiring daily medication to prevent coughing. Despite this, Chico brings joy and love, making him an ideal addition to a caring and understanding home. Where did he come from:  Surrendered to our rescue when his owner could no longer care for him. Adoption: ***** $200.00 ***** Weight: 7.4 lbs. Like me, he can be a bit possessive of his treats, ha ha. Joey loves car rides and snuggling in bed, but he'll need a lift up as he refuses to use stairs or ramps. He may even steal your pillow while you're sleeping! Not much of a walker, he prefers to be carried. Although he gets along with other dogs, he prefers his personal space and will only play with them on his terms, not with toys. Housebroken but with a tiny bladder, he needs regular bathroom breaks. Joey enjoys being outdoors but has a bit of a temper - he can go from sweet to growling in a flash. Not recommended for families with kids, as he doesn't like being disturbed from his cozy spot. Despite his unruly hair, he's carefree about it. Joey would thrive in a home with a single person or couple without children, possibly with another dog for company. Where did he come from: Owner did not have enough time for him after work life changes. Adoption: ***** $500.00 ***** Weight: 5.5 lbs. He is a low-maintenance dog who may not be the most affectionate. Unfortunately, he has a history of biting from his time at the shelter. However, in his foster home, he is thriving. It seems like he may have some limitations in his vision and hearing. When startled by a touch, he may react by snapping. But once he recognizes you, he is quick to show affection with kisses. Mushu will require patience and time to build trust and feel comfortable. -- Where did he come from: He was a stray at the Dallas Animal Shelter   Adoption: ***** $200.00 ***** Weight: 11 lbs. This charming 12-year-old, 7lb pup gets along with absolutely everyone, including his foster family's cats whom he adores hanging out with during treat times (Nickels never misses a treat opportunity!). While it seems that Nickels may be a little deaf, he miraculously hears treat bags rustling from a mile away. Nickels loves spending time with his humans but also cherishes his "cave time," where he enjoys taking naps under furniture with his tiny legs sticking out. This low-key and quiet little guy relishes cuddling, short walks, and meal times. He particularly enjoys being brushed and fully relaxes into the experience. When Nickels needs to go outside to potty, he will let you know, promptly does his business, and then politely asks to come back inside. While he tolerates being crated, he has shown in his foster home that he is trustworthy and doesn't really need to be crated. Nickels exhibits excellent manners and would likely adapt well to a home with a dog door. As a tiny senior boy, he would thrive in a household with older, gentle children who understand how to be caring and gentle with him. Could you be the loving family that Nickels has been waiting for?  -- Where did he come from: Surrendered to the New Braunfels animal shelter   Adoption: ***** $400.00 ***** Weight: 7.20 lbs.
