Elsa aka Mandi is officially available for pre-adoption! This sweet mama came into our rescue last year when she was heavily pregnant. She gave birth to 4 puppies on December 5th. Since then she’s raised her puppies and now it’s her time to shine. We think she’s a chihuahua/Pomeranian or Eskimo mix . She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and is 2 weeks out from completing her heartworm treatment. We estimate her to be about 3 years old. She received a full dental about a month ago. She had a fractured tooth that was removed and her tongue was repaired. When Mandi got spayed they discovered a very large gash at the back of her tongue leaving it barely hanging on. We aren’t sure how it happened but they were able to repair it and it’s completely healed. Madi is the most easy going lovable dog. She is good with other dogs, she’s potty trained, very easy going, and she also enjoys sunbathing. Mandi is one of 13 dogs we removed from a very neglectful situation from The Rio Grande Valley. She currently weighs about 17lb but Heartworm treatment has caused her to put on a couple of pounds so her normal weight is about 14lb. Every person that meets her falls in love with her and whoever adopts her will be a lucky family. 🩷 Note: We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. MEET Jordy! Jordy and another dog were being given away for free on the Nextdoor App. They were picked up by a lady but it was not a good fit for her RV lifestyle. She was caught dumping them in carriers on the Mini Mutts President's front porch! Jordy is an adorable, 5 year old, little Pomeranian and weighs 10lbs! Sadly, Jordy was not handled by people as a young pup and prefers not to be picked up or to be petted but will give your fingers sweet kisses! He has a sweet temperament! Jordy is a sweet and happy, tail wagging little guy and gets along great with other dogs. Other dogs are his jam!! We're looking for a special new family who will love Polar as much as his owner did. He is 75% Pomeranian and 25% Husky. Polar was born 5/14/2019 and weighs 11 lbs. He is house and crate trained and knows basic commands. Polar loves going for walks and expects his forever home to have a plethora of tennis balls to play fetch! He likes being with his people, but he's not super-clingy. He does great with respectful kids and other dogs. He would be fine with cats. He's neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $275. ~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later. Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~ Health: ***** He has some hip/back pain at intake and on pain meds for awhile but now he just takes supplements for joints and he's doing well. ***** Temperament: Flannel was a little spicy when he came into the rescue, so he's called Chili in his foster home as often as he is Flannie. It could just be the chihuahua in him or his past. He was found abandoned in a crate with two other dogs on a hot day in a rough part of town in San Francisco. No food or water in a wire crate for days, hot and scared. Luckily a homeless person hiked to a gas station to use their phone to call the local shelter who took them in. He was a mess with matted hair and overgrown nails. He was brave and defended his little buddy but once he was alone with the shelter workers he was a sweetie looking for cuddles. They called Recycled Poms and we made arrangements to pick him up. He's done great here, and is a sweetheart. He loves his foster dad and is usually on his lap, on his blanket on the couch next to him, or curled up on dad's blanket on the floor. I don't think he left the couch for weeks, kind of got possessive for a bit, but he's one of the pack now. Dad and couch still his favorite though. He gets along with all the other littles in the house, and the cat, and the big dog but he tends to try to boss her around, and a little yappy at her. Loves to chase her when she goes out to run. As sweet as he can be he does not like to be surprised so he has bitten (sharp teeth!) when he's unaware of an incoming nudge or pick up. Those have gotten farther apart though. So, he will not be adopted to a home where there will be young children who can be unpredictable. He needs an adopter that can read his body language because he will tell you if he's not liking something. He likes to be carried so he'd be a good traveling companion, but car travel is best in a carrier or belted in the back seat because he likes to get in your lap. He's very food motivated, loves treats and soft foods. He's got a funny little bark and a bad habit of being very vocal about anyone leaving the house. He needs patience with potty training, he wears a belly band now and will wee on just about anything. But his foster home has many dogs now and over the years so hopefully consistency and just his own smells will be all it takes to make him a good boy. At about 15 pounds, he’s the perfect medium-small size for someone wanting a “big dog look” in a little package. Arctic Blue can be fearful at first meeting new people. He needs a day or two to observe, process, and decide you’re safe — but once he does, he truly warms up and bonds beautifully. Patience is key with this boy, and he will reward you with loyalty and sweetness. He does have a bite history related to a traumatic grooming experience in his past. However, with calm handling and trust-building, he allowed me to groom him without issue. This tells us so much about his ability to overcome fear when he feels safe and respected. The good stuff (and there’s a lot of it!): Knows SIT and DOWN Walks beautifully on a leash Loves playing with other young dogs Respectful and appropriate with senior dogs Appears mostly house-trained Uses the doggie door like a pro Generally quiet, but will “use his voice” if he wants something to change He will bark initially if crated and wants out, but settles after a bit and will sleep quietly through the night. Arctic Blue would thrive in a home that understands he needs a gentle introduction to new situations. A confident canine companion could be a big plus for him. Because of his history, we will be looking for an adopter who is patient, experienced, and willing to continue building his confidence in a positive, fear-free way. Due to his bite history, he will not be adopted to families with children.
