***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation***
Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues.
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.
We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.
Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees.
The call was put out for the need from a commercial breeder with health problems who needed her breeding dogs gone, at a cost of course in the middle of nowhere in South Dakota. Of course they always want money for the dogs & of course once we know about them we cannot walk away & leave them there. The house was a run down shack & where Alexis & her other breeding friends were living was deplorable. They all stank so badly you wanted to vomit with the smell up to 2 weeks later. We believe it was the smell of the nastiest food coming out of their pores. Non of us could get rid of the smell off them until they had been on our food for roughly 14 days. They were matted, had very long curled nails & were dirty & some even had raging skin infections & raging UTI’s. One was even having seizures & still being used to breed. But despite where they lived & were used to make money off their backs, they were still very sweet & friendly. But Alexis, she was so lovely & grateful to get the hell out of the shack she was caged in 24/7 living her life outside in the stinking heat day after day then in the freezing cold in winter time in the shack was over. Her life was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. On this day we rescued a total of 8 breeding poms & shi tzu mum & dads who all they knew was to breed in a life of hell & then being sold.
Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Alexis how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home.
Alexis & her friends were bought back to the WA state where she is now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home.
Poor Alexis has obviously been through an ordeal. The horror she endured on her little body & mind all to make money off her back is so disgusting. After everything she has been through she is still so sweet though. She is shy & uncertain at first though & of course she would be. She is beyond grateful to get out of that hell hole she was in & radiates gratitude.
Alexis lets you pick her up & lets you give her kisses & hugs. The reality is, the foster homes are her real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding she can snuggle up in, a roof over head that’s not outside. At first she had no clue what was going on or where she was in a wonderful loving foster home. The only time it appears people were with her previously was to breed her but that being said she now understands she has a lovely environment with her foster siblings.
Her foster mum said she is so very sweet & just loves to be petted once you pick her up but you have to build that trust with her then she is good. She is very sensitive & doesn’t have a mean bone in her body considering what humans did to her.
With us she has loved every dog she has been with.
At first with her food in her foster home she wasn’t motivated, probably because she was so confused with her new life & was so used to eating the cheapest grade food. But once she got a taste of the homemade food, it was all over & she woofed it down & knows when it’s time to eat she looks for it.
She is good with her baths & being dried by the hairdryer not a fan at all & wants to try to get away from it & wonders what is happening?
She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not get to experience ever until she was rescued.
She is such a lovely little lady who just wants to be loved & to make up for her past once you have built that repour with her.
She would still need work walking on her harness & leash because the reality is this is all new to her.
She does not discriminate against breeds. She has always been with other dogs & she adores other dogs & they make her feel comfortable & confident.
Alexis rides in the car well & considering the only times we know of was when she went to auction to be sold & when we got her & going home with her foster family & to & from the vets. It’s still all new to her though. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. She spent her whole life confined for breeding. Alexis as you can imagine spent such a long time in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Alexis where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly she can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them.
Alexis is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her.
Alexis has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in her foster home & she is currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. She absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home roughly the same size for her to thrive in. . Alexis needs to go to a forever home with another dog or dogs in the home, she enjoys the company of other dogs & we currently have her with other dogs in her loving foster home. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take her to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard.
Alexis is roughly 15 lbs & she is 5 years old. She has put on weight since being in her foster home. She is a pomeranian, what she is mixed with we are not sure, female, she is spayed by laser by our wonderful vets. She was in heat when we rescued her & her mouth was bad. She is microchipped, she had a dental scale & polish along with dental x-rays. She is up to date on her shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed.
We have spent far more on Alexis with paying for her from a commercial breeder in South Dakota. Bringing her to WA with her travel/flight costs, her transportation to WA. All of her medical care in WA etc & bringing her to WA than her adoption fee comes close to covering. Her adoption fee does not even cover half of what we have spent on Alexis.
Alexis has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not her around small children so we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats.
We were not there when Alexis was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is.
As with all of our rescues & Alexis friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Alexis potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.
We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.
Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Alexis & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Alexis who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for this special sweet little lady.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.
Alexis has an adoption fee of $1550 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.
