When Melody's owners moved out of their apartment, they left her behind — along with a cat who'd been her companion. A 7-year-old dog, abandoned in the only home she knew. But her loss is about to be someone's incredible gain. As she has been for her foster family!
A Total Velcro Dog (In the Best Way) Melody is calm, affectionate, and bonds quickly and deeply. Shelter staff and her foster family agree — she's never met a person she didn't like. She wants to be on you, by you, or leaning on you, whether that's cuddled on the couch, curled up in bed, or parked by your feet while you work. If you want a dog who thinks you're her favorite place on earth, she's it. She may even let you know when someone walks by without stopping to say hello!
Easy, Reliable, Low-Stress Fully potty trained with zero accidents, she sleeps peacefully through the night and does great crated during the day. She's low-to-mid energy — happy with a walk when you offer one, just as content with quiet days and backyard time.
Good with Dogs, Great with Kids She gets along well with other dogs, currently living happily alongside an energetic puppy in her foster home. She's been wonderful with her foster family's kids (ages 7 and 9), though she's still learning her comfort zone with younger or louder little ones — calm introductions are best.
Food Motivated & Eager to Learn She already knows "sit" and is very food motivated, making training a breeze. She's a bit underweight right now, so she'll happily work toward a healthy weight with her new family.
A Couple of Things to Know
She's strong and athletic — best suited to an adopter comfortable handling a sturdy dog and ready to advocate for her breed.
She is learning to share high-value toys and continues to get better each day with patience from her foster family and watching carefully as the dogs each have a bone in their backyard. She'd do best as an only dog or with guided practice and understanding of her behavior.
She's vocal during play — a loud bark and growly-sounding noises that are all volume, not mood.

The girls in her foster family will read to her, take her on walks, and just snuggle up next to her. They report that she is a dream and hope that anyone that is interested will take the leap and meet her in person. The photos of her do not capture her loving essence. She is so cute in person!
