Story

Lily was surrendered to NorthStar when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her dogs. Although she is almost 9 years old, Lily is in good health, energetic and house-trained. She is a good listener who loves long walks and car rides. She is currently up to date on her shots, but is due for several vaccines in May - we'll ensure she receives those. Lily has lived with another dog (Lucy Nason, also available for adoption) and is currently in temporary foster with a Lab and Golden Retriever. On walks she may bark at other dogs out of curiosity - she's not aggressive, just loud. Lily is crate trained and enjoys spending time in her individual crate even when given free roam of the house. Overall, she is a very sweet senior girl just looking for a new place to hang her leash! With her outward pointing toes and cute underbite, Clarabelle is adorably regal. She weighs about 33 lbs. and is the perfect size to fit in any type of house or apartment. She is dog friendly and was ok with cats when tested with them. She is an all-around sweet girl. She loves all people and is always ready to greet people with a smile and her stumpy tail wagging. Clarabelle is a relaxed girl, hanging out on the dog bed, her crate or on the couch. But once you call her over, she is ready to snuggle up next to you for belly rubs. She also loves being in the yard, sitting or lying down to catch some rays. She does have her playful side, and will run around the yard or play with her toys. She seems to be house trained and is good in a crate overnight and while foster mom is at work. She walks nicely on a leash, but does love to stop and sniff all the sniffs. Clarabelle is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and is on monthly heartworm and flea and tick preventatives. She is ready to charm her way into your home and heart so get your application in. Kara is your classic goofy puppy—curious, affectionate, and always ready to be part of whatever is going on. She’s doing very well with her potty training and continues to make great progress. Kara is also still improving her leash skills, and with a bit of patience and consistency, she’ll keep gaining confidence on her walks. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public in Oklahoma. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.
