Story
Lily was surrendered to NorthStar when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her dogs. Although she is almost 9 years old, Lily is in good health, energetic and house-trained. She is a good listener who loves long walks and car rides. She is currently up to date on her shots, but is due for several vaccines in May - we'll ensure she receives those.  Lily has lived with another dog (Lucy Nason, also available for adoption) and is currently in temporary foster with a Lab and Golden Retriever. On walks she may bark at other dogs out of curiosity - she's not aggressive, just loud. Lily is crate trained and enjoys spending time in her individual crate even when given free roam of the house. Overall, she is a very sweet senior girl just looking for a new place to hang her leash! If you are interested in meeting Lily, please complete an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and ask for her by name!May 29, 2026, 6:49 am

Story
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: MoodBREED: PugDOB: May 1, 2020 (6 years)GENDER: femaleHome Recommendation: Mood would do best in a loving home looking for a calm, easygoing companion. She has a very chill personality and enjoys being around her people without demanding constant activity. Mood gets along well with kids and other animals, making her a wonderful fit for a family home or a quieter household with other pets. She would thrive in an environment where she can relax, feel safe, and enjoy companionship, affection, and a steady routine.Personality: Mood is an extremely chill and peaceful dog who enjoys the simple things in life. One of her favorite activities is relaxing outside and quietly watching the birds fly by. She loves affection, especially having her ears rubbed, and will happily soak up all the attention you give her. Mood is very quiet and calm natured — in fact, she has not barked once in her foster home so far. Her gentle and relaxed personality makes her a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a mellow, easygoing dog.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Mood is still learning the basics and will need continued patience and consistency with her training. She is currently working on house training and leash walking, so her future family should be prepared to help guide her as she builds confidence and learns new routines. With her calm personality and gentle nature, she has great potential to continue making progress in a supportive and loving home.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future. We are committed to rescuing and caring for dogs of all kinds — healthy, medically fragile, senior, or those with special needs — and giving them the love, safety, and opportunity they deserve.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

Story
Adoptable Roscoe 🐾 If you’re looking for a dog who is essentially a tiny, vibrating ball of pure happiness, look no further. This handsome guy was found as a stray, but he doesn’t seem to care one bit! The Stats: Age: Our best guess is around 1 year old. Breed: Your guess is as good as ours, but we’re seeing some Pug/Chihuahua vibes. Size: he’s around 15–20 lbs but on the lean side. Signature Look: A very charming, very prominent underbite. He might not be “traditional” pageant material, but he is a 10/10 in the personality department. The Personality: This boy is pure “joy.” He is super funny, always on the move, and looking for a more active household. If you’re a couch potato, he might be a bit much for you- he wants to be where the action is! He is a total social butterfly and hasn’t met a stranger yet. He loves other dogs big and small! In fact, he is currently obsessed with his 90 lb German Shepherd foster brother. He clearly has no idea how small he is. He had no idea what toys are and he doesn’t really seem to know how to engage in proper play with other dogs (he is a humper) but he is learning! All the dogs in his foster home are super playful, patient and tolerant of awkward doggies and are helping him learn- so any new resident dogs should also be the same. While he has not been exposed to kids or cats, we think he can adapt with boundaries in place! The Good Boy Report: Potty Training: Doing amazing! No accidents in the house so far. Crate Training: Currently a work in progress, but he’s putting in the effort. If you want a dog who will make you laugh every single day and fill your home with non-stop positive energy, this is your guy. Interested in adding some joy to your life?
