Story
Midge is the perfect dog for someone who wants to be the center of this girl's universe. She LOVES her humans and will spend the day checking in on you & mostly sleeping on a bed at your feet (her little tongue will be hanging out). She has a funny little face as a result of some trauma that occurred before she was rescued - we think she was hit or kicked by someone. As a result, she has had a lot of work done on her broken jaw which has left her with a snaggletooth look and a tongue that hangs out of her mouth. Yet with all that she's suffered this girl is happy and loving and friendly, even if you're meeting her for the first time! She will walk right into your home as if she belongs there (and maybe she does)! If you're looking for a sweet little companion, look no further than Midge! Miss Midge is a Pug mix who is about 9 years old and weighs 17 pounds. She is a laid-back girl who is so easygoing that she'll even let you dress her up as a princess, tiara included. Midge is well behaved in the car and she really loves her daily walks through the neighborhood. When she sees you grab the leash, she comes running so you can leash her up. She has a jaunty little walk and doesn't act her age one bit. Midge is great at going up & down stairs, especially if it's mealtime - there's no better time of the day for her! Midge currently lives with 2 other dogs in her foster home and has no problem keeping up with them even though they are half her age! Midge would also do well as an only dog as she is very happy just being with humans. Midge listens well and, being food driven, is easily trained. She's smart, too - she knows to expect a treat when she comes inside from doing her business in the yard! Midge is housetrained, however, she may need a puppy pad if left alone for 6 hours. When she is left home alone, she has the freedom to roam the place – she does not like being crated and doesn’t need to be. Midge sleeps on her own bed through the night without incident but would love to sleep in the same room as her people if possible. She'll happily curl up on her own bed on the floor next to yours and you can hear her quietly snoring. Midge had 2 surgeries after being rescued to correct the damage to her jaw. Even after the surgeries, she has fistulas (holes) in the roof of her mouth. On a rare occasion kibble may get stuck in her nose but she usually just sneezes the food out so you don’t have to do anything about it.  Midge currently requires a tiny sprinkle of medicinal powder on her food to ensure her pancreas functions properly. She eats a Blue Buffalo kibble for seniors which helps keep her pancreatitis in check. It's not prescription food but is readily available at pet stores and on Amazon. Midge just LOVES her food & gobbles it right down, making sure she hunts down every single kibble that might escape her bowl! Although Midge gets along with dogs, she might bark when she encounters new-to-her dogs on a walk. She sounds like a goat when she barks – it is actually quite cute! If you'd like to meet sweet little Midge and provide her with a loving retirement home, please complete an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for MIDGE TX! She will be your best little companion - you won't be sorry!October 20, 2024, 7:09 pm

Story
We would like to introduce you to Tina, the tiny girl who has battled a brave ordeal and come out so much stronger! Tina is doing great now, but when she first came to Home for Good, she started showing signs that she wasn’t well. Tina was not feeling well, struggling to eat and keep food down, and spent most of her time being very lethargic. We got her evaluated quickly and the vet determined a frightening problem—Tina had a liver shunt, which is an abnormal blood vessel that diverts blood around the liver rather than through it. She went through long, extensive, and expensive surgery to repair this dangerous condition, and after several months of recovery and TLC in an amazing foster home, she has recouperated and is now healthy ready to find her forever family. Tina is a three-year-old Pug mix and 18 pounds of pure fun. She is so ready to be the tiniest bestie you’ve ever had. Tina was rescued from Swainsboro, Georgia, and she quite likes to tell you all about her past, the day she is having, her hopes and dreams, really anything—she just likes to chat. Have you ever just wished for a little friend who wants to chitchat all day long, listen to your troubles, and give you the best advice? Your wish has been granted with Tina! Tina is also 100% certified in Puggle Snuggles. Seriously, this girl likes to be in laps. Your lap, your friend’s lap, the person sitting at the table across from you on the patio at brunch’s lap. She is such a friendly and sweet girl, so her lap snuggles are always welcomed. She also knows how to sit and walks well on a leash, so she’d be a great companion for romps around town, visits to see your friends, and trips for coffee (just make sure she has a chance to catch up with her favorite baristas). Tina would do great in a home with other dogs, cats, and kids. She would fit in comfortably anywhere and bring pure joy to any home she’s a part of. Won’t you come meet this girl and be #BestieGoals? Tina wants to see ya soon! Tina is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. Story
Scooby-dooby-doo!!! Okay, so maybe this Scooby isn’t a great dane, but he’s always up for a Scooby snack. And he’s good with everyone - kids, adults, and other dogs! The only mystery Scooby wasn’t able to solve was why his owner left him tied up outside all day. Luckily one of our Texas rescue partners saw him and was able to convince his owner to surrender him. Unfortunately it didn’t take much convincing as his owner said ‘he was too busy for a dog’. Scooby didn’t say “ruh-roh” to that, instead he was so happy to hear that he’d have a chance to live indoors with a family that will provide him a loving forever home! Scooby is a 1 year, 3 month old male pug/terrier mix. His Mom was a pure bred pug…Dad, well that’s another story. But we are guessing that Dad must have been some type of terrier. Scooby is currently in Texas but will come to NJ upon adoption. Do you have room in your family for a cutie like Scooby? If yes, please fill out our adoption form: https://form.jotform.com/210286667669167 We always need fosters, please join us! Story
Hi there, my name is Misty. I am a 9-month-old female Pug/Dachshund mix weighing 9.6 lbs and I was dumped in a parking lot near Houston Texas with a family of Shih Tzus. It was a lucky break for me when good samaritans rescued the family and brought me along for a ride to a San Antonio foster home. Now that I’m spayed and fully vaccinated, it’s time to find a forever family. WooHoo! I am a laidback mellow girl, a little shy just at first, but friendly with all humans, kitty cats. and other dogs. I’m not the rambunctious playful type and I’m not into doggy toys. I’m into treats and cuddling and my favorite treat is a bully stick. My foster mom says I’m an expert cuddle bug who loves pets and kisses and would rather watch the other dogs play than join in. I adore going for walks on a leash and going for rides in the car. I am housebroken and well-behaved, I rarely bark, and I know how to use a doggy door if you have one. My future looks bright, and I am so looking forward to joining a wonderful family anywhere on the East Coast! Inquire about me today and bring me home! PUPDATE: I just made a new doggy friend at my foster home and I'm finally playing! Her name is Jessie and she is a little 10 lb Heeler puppy. :-) * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.
