Story
Scooby-dooby-doo!!! Okay, so maybe this Scooby isn’t a great dane, but he’s always up for a Scooby snack. And he’s good with everyone - kids, adults, and other dogs! The only mystery Scooby wasn’t able to solve was why his owner left him tied up outside all day. Luckily one of our Texas rescue partners saw him and was able to convince his owner to surrender him. Unfortunately it didn’t take much convincing as his owner said ‘he was too busy for a dog’. Scooby didn’t say “ruh-roh” to that, instead he was so happy to hear that he’d have a chance to live indoors with a family that will provide him a loving forever home! Scooby is a 1 year, 3 month old male pug/terrier mix. His Mom was a pure bred pug…Dad, well that’s another story. But we are guessing that Dad must have been some type of terrier. Scooby is currently in Texas but will come to NJ upon adoption. Do you have room in your family for a cutie like Scooby? If yes, please fill out our adoption form: https://form.jotform.com/210286667669167 We always need fosters, please join us! Story
Midge is the perfect dog for someone who wants to be the center of this girl's universe. She LOVES her humans and will spend the day checking in on you & mostly sleeping on a bed at your feet (her little tongue will be hanging out). She has a funny little face as a result of some trauma that occurred before she was rescued - we think she was hit or kicked by someone. As a result, she has had a lot of work done on her broken jaw which has left her with a snaggletooth look and a tongue that hangs out of her mouth. Yet with all that she's suffered this girl is happy and loving and friendly, even if you're meeting her for the first time! She will walk right into your home as if she belongs there (and maybe she does)! If you're looking for a sweet little companion, look no further than Midge! Miss Midge is a Pug mix who is about 9 years old and weighs 17 pounds. She is a laid-back girl who is so easygoing that she'll even let you dress her up as a princess, tiara included. Midge is well behaved in the car and she really loves her daily walks through the neighborhood. When she sees you grab the leash, she comes running so you can leash her up. She has a jaunty little walk and doesn't act her age one bit. Midge is great at going up & down stairs, especially if it's mealtime - there's no better time of the day for her! Midge currently lives with 2 other dogs in her foster home and has no problem keeping up with them even though they are half her age! We feel that Midge would do best as an only pet as she is very happy just being with humans. Midge should only go to a home where the children are older, perhaps 10+ years old. Midge listens well and, being food driven, is easily trained. She's smart, too - she knows to expect a treat when she comes inside from doing her business in the yard! Midge is housetrained, however, she may need a puppy pad if left alone for 6 hours. When she is left home alone, she has the freedom to roam the place – she does not like being crated and doesn’t need to be. Midge sleeps on her own bed through the night without incident but would love to sleep in the same room as her people if possible. She'll happily curl up on her own bed on the floor next to yours and you can hear her quietly snoring. Midge had 2 surgeries after being rescued to correct the damage to her jaw. Even after the surgeries, she has fistulas (holes) in the roof of her mouth. On a rare occasion kibble may get stuck in her nose but she usually just sneezes the food out so you don’t have to do anything about it.  Midge currently requires a tiny sprinkle of medicinal powder on her food to ensure her pancreas functions properly. She eats a Blue Buffalo kibble for seniors which helps keep her pancreatitis in check. It's not prescription food but is readily available at pet stores and on Amazon. Midge just LOVES her food & gobbles it right down, making sure she hunts down every single kibble that might escape her bowl! Although Midge gets along with dogs, she might bark when she encounters new-to-her dogs on a walk. She sounds like a goat when she barks – it is actually quite cute! Midge's adoption fee is only $250. If you'd like to meet sweet little Midge, please complete an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for MIDGE TX! She will be your best little companion - you won't be sorry!November 24, 2024, 5:41 pm

Story
Nova is ready to join a forever family! She is a small dog with a BIG personality! Nova is your perfect compact companion. Always ready for an adventure, Nova would make the perfect hiking/walking partner! Nova loves everyone she meets dogs, cats and especially kids! She absolutely loves to play, and would play ALL DAY LONG if you let her! She’s especially great at playing fetch. This spunky gal will make an amazing addition to just about any family. Her ideal home would be an active one, and/or they’d have a very playful doggy companion but a family that matches both of those things would be make her dreams come true! After a day of playing she loves to settle on the couch and end the day with a good cuddle session. Nova is house trained, walks great on a leash, is a perfect passenger in a car, knows the commands "come", "sit", "go to your pen". Nova is a pug/shih-tzu mix, and may need the occasional trim with a professional groomer to keep her looking her best! Story
Meet Yin Yang Yin Yang is a perfect example of the quintessential CHUG - a chihuahua and pug mix. Yin Yang is still very young - we know his real birthday is November 29, 2023 - so he shall soon turn the big ONE! We know his birthday because he was an owner surrender, as he was the result of an accidental litter. He is only 11 lbs today and will likely not grow much bigger. Yin Yang is great with kids, dogs and cats. He is house-broken and crate trained as well. He will need a little help learning to walk on leash but otherwise is a laid back sweet little guy. Interested in becoming this pup’s forever home? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and the perfect forever home for our dogs. We appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fees cover spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
TIKKI - 2 years, 18lbs, Puggle, Spayed  This dog is joining Social Tees on 11/16 and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup. MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
